Is that what bikes are for then? I did wonder.

Any bike riders on here?

I ride a bike most days but wouldn't describe myself as an MTBer or a cyclist. I'm just an adult who still likes riding bikes.

I've a bottom 'o' the range Marin for XC use
Do you have a beard and wear tracksters?
Posted 2 years ago # -
I'm wearing lycra right now and about to jump on the bike so I guess that makes me a cyclist who will ride the crap out of my bikes once I choose to road or mtb it.
So I'm on this forum as I'm a cyclist.
Crap one at that...right forum then!

Drat rain.

You have more bikes than most people on here. You have a bike for jumping, a bike for riding along and a bike for going downhill.

what's the issue with people buying "exotic" bikes or otherwise? Nothing wrong with grown men/women spending cash they've earned.

There were some pretty exotic bikes on the Kielder 100, some were quite muddy too. No riders that I could see . . .

What's the need for 3 different bikes then? Sounds like 'fluff' to me.
3 different styles of bike though. Marin came first. Used for downhill, xc and jumping but it wasn't suitable for the type of terrain/speed which it was subjected to. It is a good bike and didn't deserve to be consigned to the busted bike bin so after a few years I got the Commie to take over the DH duties. The DMR is only 6mths old and again was bought to save the Marin. There are no trail centres here, so all the trails are much rougher (and shorter) than any i've ridden on the mainland. So the need for specific bikes for varying terrain is more pronounced.
100% Fluff-free. Bottom of the range bikes one and all, with the only upgrades being due to breakages. No XTR, no Ti, no Chris King blah blah blah...

I only ride my bikes so that I can splash around in the mud and puddles......and at 36 years old, there really aren't that many opportunities to do it...

I rode Cheddar last weekend on a bike with an £80 ceramic BB, £30 ceramic jockey wheels, £80 Nokon cables etc. then spent the night after the race sleeping alongside it in the back of a 20 year old Rough As Funk Land Rover while everyone else slept in their posh tents with their shiny new cars parked outside.
Am I allowed to feel smug because I don't go in for motoring and camping fluff ?

All 3 bikes are 'bottom of the range', but I don't see any saracens in there
You've still spent a lot of 'fluff' money on those three
Too much 'fluff' for my liking, you should join the rest of the fluffy riders that you adhere to

If I was wanting to spend some money, I couldn't think of many better ways than a two month biking holiday. Have a good'un.
You other guys can go fluff yourselves

3 isn't enough..
I ruthlessly cut my collection down a few years ago to...
1x DH race bike
1x mini DH bike (4.5" travel, DH race geometry)
1x dirtjump hardtail (also my XC bike)
1X rigid mtb for towing trailer
1x BMX
1x Roadbikeno fluff on any of em, plenty muck tho.

Finding this thread rather unnerving
Fluff

Bunch of fluffers

As you seem to revel in bottom of the range mediocrity, why do you need to upgrade when you bust or wear something. Surely you should replace with the same part, otherwise you will yourself be guilty of "fluffing" up your steed.
WTF are you doing one here anyway, shouldn't you be out "riding"
