Please could someone give me some advice? I just trying to plan our annual visit to Afan, however after a few years of great times last year was a real disappointment. The Drop Off Cafe seemed to have morphed into something from a Russian Gulag, closing early and the menu seemed to have been somewhat reduced along with the portion sizes.
The trails all seemed to either be closed (Penhydd) or partly closed (Skyline) or subject to felling (Whytes Level).
What is the condition of the trails and which ones are open?
Also has there been any improvement in the cafe facilities?
If anyone has any recent first hand knowledge that would be great.
Happy riding
Hi i visited Afan last week an had an awesome time some of my pic's
All trails seemed fine for us, all open except Penhydd but i believe thats been closed for some time.
We done the W2 trail one day then just did bits and bobs from Skyline, whites and mainly Wall the next.
we stopped off both days at the skyline cafe lovely food as this was open (the wall one next to zig zags trail looked deserted)
All seemed tip top condition and we loved it, and i can not wait to go back.
hope thats helped a little
in fact, its rare to see someone finish a meal at the cafe there. I had cheese beans on toast today and needed a kie down after.
Full skyline is open and riding nice. W2 is also fully open and riding even finer. But its worth checking on penhydd. There is a St Davids day video from Cognation that shows someone going down some nice new berms at penhydd. It cant be far off opening.
Cafe has had renovations. New trail next month (green + blue), Penhydd re-construction atm. All open bar Penhydd. Tree felling in full swing though but not affecting trail closure.
