A quick question, why are the a2z rear disc adaptors recommended for aluminium frames. Why won't they work on steels?

where have you seen that?

they're made of the same stuff as all the other adapters out there so it can't be fear of galvanic corrosion can it?

I think its to do with the shape of the dropout plates. Steel frames tend to have small or cowled dropouts, whereas Aluminium tend to have larger flat plate style dropouts, which the adapter can clamp better.

I thought it was more down the mechanics of it. Aluminium frames tend to have larger, flatter drop-outs to clamp to

EDIT: too slow

Because steel mtb dropouts aren't usually made of flat plate. FWIW, what it really means is that it's recommended for al frames with plate dropouts.

This sort of thing.

My d/o isn't completely flat so it took quite a lot of fine tuning

ah, is this the run disks on a v-braked frame thing?

Sorry thought it was the standard 160-180mm type thing.

As above it's more down to drop out shape - as long as it's a flat plate you should be ok.

The Specialized one is much better IMHO. It bolts to the brake boss to spread the load and you can take the wheel off as normal.

Not sure where you can get one, ebay maybe.
