Get him a trike with a big handle on the back you can push him about with. 2+ for a balance bike I’d say in general.

They’re £120. Seems a bit steep I know. Especially knowing how tight you are. But its so beautifully put together. I wish the bikes I’ve owned had been as well built. The perfect first bike. Just not for a one year old

Still tempted by an Isla for my little girl though, she’s 19 months now loves her trike good balance already might get her one before 24 months…

She absolutely flies on the Rothan. Keeps up with big sister on her 20″ bike no problem 😯

Be patient! Don’t get something too early.. it’ll just frustrate them (and you!). When they’re inside leg reaches 30cm then Islabike Rothan FTW 🙂

Our 15-month old no 2 likes sitting on ours, but isn’t tall enough to properly balance on it yet.

Jonathan, noted, various wheeled contractions around the house so another two wheeled one for her to grab when she feels the need is the plan, very aware of ‘motorcross dad syndrome’ it doesn’t matter whether she likes bikes or not as long as she isn’t a couch spud I’m happy 😀

Won’t he just sell it in a few months anyway and buy an identical one a few months after, repeat to fade.

My daughter is 2.5 yrs and only just showing interest in her Rothan.

She does love it though. She wanted it next to her on the sofa while she had her dinner the other day.

It is a beautiful thing.

I’d say xmas would be soon enough mate, we got our wee fella an Early rider lite at xmas (he was 18 months) and he’s getting to grips with it now 10 weeks later so think we timed it well. He just pads about on it and has just started gettig a bit of speed up and dragging his feet. 1st birthsay is a bit erly for the concept of steering and for most walking is only kicking in.

With binners on the isola balance bike, superb bit of kit. My lad had a lidl specia wooden one and ragged ut for years. When he got a real bike, 3rd bday, he rode it twice with stabilizers and took all of a minute or two to ride without them. Brilinat things.

LoCo, I’ve got the pink issue with my little girl. We got her this. She is very quick on it now. Frighteningly. She stared riding it at 2 but now at 2.5 the size is perfect.

My daughter (2) likes her spesh hotwalk but perhaps a bit too advanced for her. My 10month old loves it – keeps fiddling with it. Hoping he’s going to be into bikes 🙂

My Grandson is just 1 and I’m sure he’d be ready for a balance bike.
Being a grandson he is, naturally, officially, the most advanced and amazing kid ever. What’s the smallest one out there?

1st has to be a trike. With a step on the back and a bulb horn on the bars.

Mine had a Rothan which he loved, but he was 2 when he started riding it. 1 is too young IMO.

Does make them happy though:

too young can he walk yet?
balance bike or get a small bike – specialized rockhopper and take the pedals off so they are used to it when you fit pedals.

I wonder if I could get a carbon 456 full bike foer him oast the missus as one of his birthday presents? 8)

1 year old is going some, but with a wooden bike and some cutting/drilling you can re-positioning the rear “swing-arms”, shorten (ie deepen) the forks, lower the seat. Result shaves a lot off the inside leg needed. My little girl couldn’t touch the floor till I did this to the Lidl bike:

I got my son a Rohan for his second birthday and he had the odd scoot, but wasen’t really interested, despite us having a park 30 secs from the door.

Its only been a year later at 3 that he has started playing on it frequently – within a week he went from sedate walking to scooting and lifting both feet off the floor scooting (slightly) downhill.

Stopping (braking) and steering still leaves a bit to be desired, but the same could be said about me, so I’m not complaining…

1 is too young, but you could get it anyway, no harm is having it around. We gat a Rohan for our son when he was 18 months for christmas. He’s pretty tall so could reach the ground and liked having a go round the house. He rode the 600 meters (all up hill) to the park on Sunday. He’s 21 months now, found a nice steep grassy bank at the park and we could not get him away from it. Up and down up and down – ace!!

Had to carry him home screaming as he wanted to stay and session the bank! Wife sys he’s too young for the BMX track this weekend.
