come to fresh Goods down and my name's
0:02
will and I'm the tech editor for single
0:05
track magazine single track Worldcom and
0:08
broadcasting to live on YouTube and this
0:12
is a video that I'm trying to do once a
0:14
week every Friday in Australia or
0:16
Thursday night if you're in the UK or
0:19
perhaps you're tuning in from another
0:21
part of the world if you are watching
0:23
live then please let me know tell me
0:26
your name where you're watching in the
0:27
world from and perhaps you can join in
0:30
if you've got any questions about some
0:31
of the products that I'm going to be
0:32
talking about today I do have some new
0:34
products here some of them actually been
0:37
running for a little while and a couple
0:39
of others that have just turned up for
0:41
testing so we're gonna talk a little bit
0:43
about those but as always if you've got
0:46
any questions not just about the
0:48
products here but perhaps there are
0:49
other bikes that we're testing at the
0:52
moment or products that we're testing
0:53
you've got questions about all the stuff
0:55
that you'd like to see tested let me
0:57
know I am always looking for for good
1:02
ideas for stuff to test perhaps head to
1:04
head or group tests mini group tests
1:06
whatever you want to hear or whatever
1:09
you want to see let me know I'd love to
1:10
hear your thoughts so without further
1:13
ado I'm gonna get cracking on some of
1:16
these fresh goods so as always yeah got
1:19
any questions while we're doing this
1:20
live just let me know I've got the
1:22
camera right here I can see your
1:24
comments I can see your thumbs up or
1:26
thumbs down or whatever let me know what
1:28
you like what you don't like as well I'd
1:30
love to hear your feedback so as always
1:33
I'll be monitoring those questions so
1:34
just drop them in the comment section
1:36
right here I'll be able to see them and
1:38
hopefully you can answer them live for
1:40
you so we've got people tuning in now
1:42
welcome welcome to fresh Goods and
1:44
thanks for joining and I hope you enjoy
1:47
I guess I should probably talk about
1:49
this maybe I'll talk about this bike
1:51
here the canyon Iran which I've had for
1:54
a couple of weeks now and you can
1:55
probably tell through the dust on here
1:57
but a dirt booth yeah there was one
2:00
muddy ride that I went on and that was
2:02
absolutely horrific so yeah I won't
2:05
speak about that too much it was it was
2:07
terrible
2:08
yeah my friends in the UK you you'll
2:10
feel my pain I'm sure but I had made a
2:13
few changes to this test bike I've got
2:15
this for I think another month or so
2:18
that I'll be writing this for depends
2:20
when Kenny wants it back
2:22
but yeah I have made a couple of changes
2:24
to this I've actually put on a new front
2:27
tire now if you tuned in last week on
2:29
fresh boots Friday or fresh quits
2:31
Thursday night this is one of the
2:34
specialized tires that we had come in
2:36
last week so this is the purgatory this
2:39
is the biggest one out of the lot this
2:41
is a 2.6 inch tire so we did talk about
2:44
this last week if you did tune in then
2:46
you would have seen this so I've mounted
2:48
this up to the front of the canyon
2:50
neuron and yeah it's replaced a Max's
2:54
forecaster so they come stock and
2:56
there's one on the rear you can't see
2:57
that in the video but 2.35 inch rear
3:01
max's forecaster and all the front i've
3:03
put the purgatory 22.6 so bit more bi
3:06
bit more traction looking for something
3:08
a bit more substantial on the front of
3:10
this bike particularly for a lot of the
3:12
loose rocky conditions we have around
3:13
Bendigo it's really sketchy in a lot of
3:16
the corners some of the descents are
3:18
pretty blown out really rough kind of
3:20
rutted sort of washed out kind of trail
3:23
so just looking for something with a bit
3:25
more bite on the front of the bike the
3:27
other thing that I've changed on this
3:29
bike is actually the cockpit and this is
3:30
what I wanted to talk to you about here
3:32
so I'm gonna drag this over let's get a
3:34
bit of a closer look here can you see
3:36
this funky handlebars this is quite a
3:39
quite a distinctive look here now this
3:42
is a relatively new handlebar from
3:44
synchros synchros is owned by Scott and
3:48
it's the component of Scott
3:51
however Scott is really keen to kind of
3:53
keep the two brand separates and cross
3:55
is a component brand and they're pouring
3:57
a lot of R&D into that brand at the
3:59
moment to to bring out some really hot
4:01
product and this is one of them it's a
4:03
carbon fiber handlebar there's plenty of
4:05
those on the market but it's actually
4:07
integrated with the stem now I see if we
4:09
can get a bit of a look at that you can
4:11
kind of see that on camera there so this
4:13
is all one piece carbon fiber so it's
4:15
the stem clamp here all one piece
4:18
through to the handlebar so it's a very
4:20
very schmick piece
4:21
okay so you've got two bolts on the back
4:23
there and that's it so none of the full
4:26
bulb faceplate on here or anything like
4:28
that often you've got about six bolts in
4:30
total on a handlebar and stem combo this
4:32
has to that's it so it's really really
4:34
simple the idea of the one piece
4:36
structure aside from looking pretty damn
4:39
striking I think you'll agree actually
4:41
let me know what you think of this if
4:42
you like this style because I have met a
4:44
few people who aren't a fan of this what
4:46
do you guys think I see we've got more
4:47
people tuning in hello welcome welcome
4:49
to fresh foods Down Under
4:51
that's what I'm calling it now because
4:52
it's Friday in Oz but it's Thursday in
4:54
the UK and other parts of the world so
4:57
we're just going fresh foods down under
4:58
that might be a bit more simple but yeah
5:00
let me know what you think of this
5:01
handle bar so it has been on the market
5:04
for a little while but synchros is
5:05
increasing the range of options
5:07
available this is called now let me just
5:11
check my paperwork because the name is a
5:12
bit of a mouthful it's the Hickson IC s
5:16
Hickson IC 1.0 rise oh oh we've got a
5:22
comment come through shed life guy our
5:24
thanks for tuning in again know welcome
5:26
back to fresh goods Down Under
5:27
I think the bars look amazing yeah I'd
5:30
agree with you shed life guy I think
5:31
they do look pretty damn cool it's kind
5:34
of got a hammerhead shark kind of vibe
5:36
about it that's that's what this design
5:38
speaks to me I don't know what you think
5:40
it looks like but gives it a pretty
5:42
pretty stealthy kind of look and the
5:44
reason I put these bars onto this bike
5:46
is now wider so this is the rise version
5:50
of the Hickson handlebar it's got 20
5:52
millimetres of rise and OH Callum Ogden
5:55
evening will evening Callum thanks for
5:57
joining in thanks for tuning in to fresh
5:59
foods down under live and welcome back
6:02
again for for another Friday edition
6:04
hope you're well hope you're riding a
6:08
bike and getting a lots of miles on that
6:10
so yeah so I've decided to put this nice
6:13
wide hand bar on here the stop bars on
6:15
this bike is 760 which is pretty good to
6:18
be honest and you know bar width is very
6:20
personal preference so I'm not here to
6:21
say one width is better than the other
6:23
but I was looking for a bit more
6:24
leverage over the front wheel looking
6:26
for a bit more I don't know a bit more a
6:29
bit more of a dynamic kind of steering
6:31
feel so I've put on the wider bars so
6:34
they've gone
6:34
up to 800 these are 800 millimeters wide
6:36
you can get this bar in 780 or 800 these
6:39
are the big ones it's a 40 millimeter
6:42
effective stem width they call it
6:44
virtual stem length because of course
6:46
there is no stem this is one piece this
6:49
handlebar so in the traditional sense
6:52
it's not a stem because it's not
6:54
separate to the handlebar the 40
6:57
millimeter effective length so I've
6:58
shortened it up and I've also widen out
7:00
the handlebar and it's made a huge
7:02
change already and in fact I would say
7:05
that it's it's basically brought this by
7:08
to life for me I found steering a lot
7:10
more mobile responsive of course with
7:14
the wider by you you give yourself a
7:16
wider stance over the front of the bike
7:18
so for me that gives me more confidence
7:20
I feel a little bit more stable on the
7:22
bike but because of the wider bars I
7:24
also have more leverage over the bike so
7:26
that helps with for me for cornering I
7:29
can really kind of tip the bike over
7:30
lean it through the corners and get it
7:34
over around this kind of tight bends so
7:36
already this has had a really good
7:37
effect so that's the sink cross Hickson
7:40
I see one point I rise at the double
7:43
check the other name there now as you
7:46
can imagine for a carbon fiber structure
7:48
like this it's not cheap yeah in fact
7:51
it's very very expensive
7:52
this is 299 pounds I don't know the
7:55
Australian dollars figure so we'll try
7:58
and find that out for you but 299 quid I
8:01
guess your I mean if you were looking at
8:03
say an NV carbon handlebar and a NV
8:06
carbon stem then this is actually not
8:09
out of the out of the realms of the that
8:11
price point and of course the advantages
8:14
here you do have that clean look it is
8:16
quite lightweight as well claimed weight
8:18
on this is 270 grams which is not very
8:21
much for a handlebar in stem together so
8:24
yeah and then aside from that you've got
8:28
in theory you know better vibration
8:31
dampening and so on I've ridden a
8:32
narrower version of this bar on Scot
8:34
genius and Scot ransom and the vibration
8:37
damping is really really good it's got a
8:39
really good comfortable feel it dampens
8:42
out bars really well and of course
8:44
you've got better tuning capability if
8:46
you're building the house
8:47
and the stem as one piece then you can
8:50
control that whole structure but if
8:52
you're building a carbon handle bar and
8:54
it's going to be bolted onto any one
8:56
stem then you obviously lose control of
8:58
that particular area of handle bar some
9:02
stems why does some stem faceplates are
9:04
narrower some are four bolts I'm a to
9:05
bolt so some alloys some of carbon so by
9:09
building all this one-piece synchros has
9:11
more control over the end ride fuel so
9:14
that's kind of the advantage there
9:15
disadvantages you can't adjust the
9:17
handle bar role obviously without a face
9:19
adjustable faceplate and stem there you
9:22
can't bring the bars back or roll them
9:23
forward so some people prefer their the
9:27
hand of our sweep to go a particular way
9:29
depending on how you ride over the front
9:31
of the bike or if this is off the back
9:32
of the bike so you do lose that
9:35
adjustability so that might be a problem
9:37
for you for me I found this sweep on
9:39
this to be spot-on I really really like
9:41
it speaking of it's got six degrees up
9:44
sweep and seven degrees of back sweep so
9:48
there you go that's sort of the angles
9:50
of this bar you can get it in 40 or 50
9:52
millimeter effective stem lengths 780 or
9:54
800 millimeter width so so there you go
9:58
that's the sink cross kicks and
10:00
handlebar what do you think of that I'd
10:02
love to know what you think of this
10:03
crazy handlebar shape but yeah I think
10:08
it looks kind of cool but that's just me
10:09
I'd love to know what you think and if
10:11
you are tuning it we've got a few people
10:12
watching live here welcome welcome to
10:15
fresh goods Down Under
10:16
thanks for joining in and I'd love to
10:18
know where in the world you're watching
10:19
from what you're doing what plans you
10:21
got this weekend for riding I'm gonna
10:23
hopefully get out on my bike I'm going
10:26
to take out a good friend of mine Chris
10:27
who has not ridden a mountain bike for
10:30
something like 15 years and he's looking
10:32
to get back into it again so I'm gonna
10:34
take him out riding and hopefully get
10:36
him hooked so that's the plan right
10:39
moving right along let's talk about this
10:41
little thing this is also from synchros
10:43
I had a few bits arrive from these guys
10:46
and I want to show you this because I
10:48
think it's really cool I'm pretty nerdy
10:51
with with tools really like with
10:53
workshop tools and bike tools and this
10:56
let's give you a closer look at that
10:57
it's the cutest little mini rat
11:01
it's absolutely tiny and it's and it
11:03
comes in its own tool roll so you got
11:05
this green elastic band so that's quite
11:08
compact I mean that will fit in your
11:09
jersey pocket in the back of your Jersey
11:11
or it'll fit in a backpack I actually
11:13
run it in my little bum bag I've got a
11:15
Camelback bum bag and fits in the side
11:17
pocket really neatly so it's quite easy
11:19
to pull out and you can have that on the
11:21
trail really quickly now the deal with
11:25
this is it it's all built with this tiny
11:27
little ratchet here so if you can hear
11:29
this can you hear that
11:34
so that should little ratchet there
11:36
there's a little lever here and you can
11:38
flick that between modes so you can you
11:40
can reverse the ratchet for loosening
11:43
and you just pull out your little bit
11:45
here these are all stainless steel very
11:47
nicely made and you've got your formula
11:49
meter bit there we've got six five four
11:52
three we've got a t30 t25 T 15 I think
11:57
just check that one yet t 15 and we also
12:02
got a Phillips head screwdriver there as
12:04
well so really neat you've got all the
12:06
bits there you can whip those out and
12:08
check this out this is a torque limiter
12:12
so here you go see that on the camera
12:15
there seen that gold torque limiter so
12:18
this guy is rated to 5 Newton meters and
12:21
what you do is you plug that into the
12:24
ratchet head put your bit in the tool
12:27
bit thank you very much get your mind
12:29
out of the gutter and there we go we
12:31
have a torque wrench basically now it's
12:34
it's not adjustable this one here is 5
12:36
Newton meters and you can tighten away
12:38
let's that way uh-huh
12:40
so you can tighten up your stem bolts
12:42
we're hot on this hand about whoops
12:44
you're on a regular stem you could do
12:47
that brake brake clamps shifter clamps
12:53
seat post clamp whatever and at 5 Newton
12:56
meters this will stop turning sorry it
12:59
will continue turning but it won't keep
13:01
turning the bit I should say so it does
13:03
stop at 5 Newton meters so you don't get
13:06
a click like you would with some other
13:08
torque wrenches there is no click but it
13:10
will stop at 5 Newton meters so very
13:13
four-carbon handlebars lightweight alloy
13:15
handlebars basically anything you don't
13:17
want to crush with your huge power and
13:19
your muscly arms that's what I tell
13:21
myself anyway so yeah that's a really
13:24
neat little thing there these are quite
13:26
expensive these talk limiters so it's
13:28
nice to see that in this in this
13:31
multi-tool kit so I'll just show you
13:34
some of the other bits we've got a
13:35
really nice little tray here what have
13:37
we got here oh we've got some one
13:38
life guy has set a similar idea
13:41
to the talked toe pig bit yes you are
13:44
spot-on
13:44
in fact I'm relatively sure this is
13:46
exactly the same ratchet the the bits
13:49
look slightly different but I'm sure
13:51
they come out of the same place most
13:53
likely and that talk bit there that
13:56
looks identical to the toe pick one -
13:58
what I like about this synchros kit is
14:01
it does come with three talks heads to
14:04
15 to 25 to 30 the reason I like that is
14:07
more and more bikes are coming with talk
14:09
skis which is an entirely other thing to
14:14
itself that we could talk about for
14:16
hours I really am NOT a big fan of Torx
14:19
bits mostly because like why don't we
14:21
just stick to one style let's not have
14:23
two different standards for bolts I mean
14:24
yeah it's done right anyway it exists
14:28
that's fine they have their advantages
14:29
they are harder to strip than a hex bolt
14:32
for people who don't know how to talk
14:34
things correctly but there are more
14:37
bikes coming with these talks bits so it
14:39
is useful to have them in here
14:40
particularly Scot bikes and obviously
14:43
synchros and Scot come under the same
14:45
umbrella a lot of Scot bikes i've tested
14:47
recently do have a lot of talks hardware
14:49
so it's great to have them in your
14:52
multi-tool rather than being stuck out
14:54
in the middle of nowhere with a loose
14:55
pivot bolt on the upper shock mount and
14:57
realising that you've got nothing to
14:59
tighten up that's really annoying
15:01
hypothetically if that happened to you
15:03
on the trail I can tell you it's really
15:07
so yeah very similar to topic kit but it
15:11
does come in this lovely tool roll which
15:12
I quite like and it does come with a
15:15
chain breaker which is quite neat so
15:17
there's this little guy here you
15:19
actually drive the pin with with the
15:22
ratchet with a four millimeter I think
15:24
you can see in the end there that's a
15:25
formula metre hex
15:26
and hiding you hear the tiny little
15:29
thing there that's an adapter that's an
15:31
8 millimeter adapter so you can put that
15:35
over the 6 mil bit and you've got an
15:37
eight millimeter bit there that is great
15:39
for pedals most pedals use an 8
15:41
millimeter hex key particularly Shimano
15:43
pedals SPD and flat pedals they use an 8
15:46
millimeter bit to tighten and loosen so
15:49
this is great if you're traveling and
15:50
you want kind of like close to a
15:54
workshop kit if you have to build your
15:55
bike out of a box
15:56
so you've arrived somewhere you've got
15:58
to the airport bikes in a box or your
16:00
bike bag you get to the hotel you're
16:02
ready to ride this is a little kit here
16:04
compared to using like a flip-out
16:06
multi-tool is way easier to use you know
16:10
you've got that ratchet key there and
16:11
you can actually put the bit in the end
16:13
as well so you can so you can tighten or
16:15
loosen things quite easily from a
16:17
distance and then you can flip the bit
16:19
to the end and you've got more leverage
16:20
there plus the 5 Newton meter torque
16:22
bits so as far as having workshop kind
16:26
of I wouldn't say it's workshop level
16:27
but I would say that it's more workshop
16:29
functionality in a multi-tool that's
16:31
kind of what this provides so very very
16:34
neat oh and there's magnets here that's
16:36
pretty cool
16:37
you can put your chain link on here so
16:40
you can put your 8 9 10 11 12 speed
16:43
split links if you carry spares they'll
16:47
actually sit in here with magnets with
16:50
the power of magnets so that's pretty
16:51
cool
16:52
everyone loves magnets and in the pouch
16:55
here we also have glueless patches
16:59
because even if you have a spare tube
17:01
things can always get worse
17:03
unfortunately I've experienced that just
17:06
yesterday actually where I had a couple
17:08
of punctures on the same ride on the
17:11
same trail which is very very
17:12
frustrating so it's nice to have those
17:14
back up emergency spares in this little
17:17
kit so there you go that's a sync cross
17:19
it's called the guide toolkit and that
17:22
will set you back $64.99
17:24
so it's pretty expensive a lot of that
17:27
is to do with the talked bit that's in
17:28
there I think it's actually cheaper than
17:31
the topic kit but the topic one does
17:33
come with a couple of extra talk
17:34
limiters as well so
17:36
swings and roundabouts I suppose this
17:38
one does have the chain breaker so
17:40
that's neat and they're lovely tore off
17:42
as I said that's quite good for putting
17:44
a New Jersey pocket or backpack or
17:46
whatever right last thing I want to talk
17:50
about is is drugs let's talk about drugs
17:53
colorful candy chips what do you call an
17:58
pac-man pac-man no that's this is
18:01
nothing of the above these shocks bases
18:05
for Fox rear shock and you can get this
18:08
as a kit I don't know the pricing in
18:10
Australia I did get this sent from solar
18:13
sport which is the distributor for Fox
18:14
in Australia in the UK this will set you
18:17
back 2395
18:18
through silver fish and but wherever you
18:21
are in the world get in touch with your
18:23
local Fox dealer and they'll be able to
18:25
let you know this is basically a shop
18:28
volume spacer kit so these are designed
18:31
to go inside a Fox reshot there are
18:35
several different kits available
18:36
depending on the shock now if you've got
18:39
a float DPS which this Canyon does this
18:42
is the the shock on the back here and
18:44
this is the kit that you're after and
18:46
this is the kit that I requested so this
18:49
is really useful for me to have in the
18:51
workshop especially when test bikes turn
18:53
up and I need to change the volume on
18:56
the rear shock because it's either too
18:58
progressive or it's too linear and I'm
19:00
bottoming out too much you basically
19:02
depressurize the air can you uh that
19:04
pull it open remove whatever space is
19:07
inside if there is a space or inside
19:09
this clips on to the main air shaft and
19:11
then it sits in the top of the shop
19:13
right up in the top of the head and and
19:16
all it does is it reduces the air volume
19:19
so you can see we've got several
19:20
different sizes available all the way
19:24
down to this little one here it's
19:26
absolutely tiny and they're all
19:29
different sizes for taking up different
19:31
amounts of volume now another crucial
19:33
thing you need to know about shock
19:35
volume and using these spacers depending
19:39
on the size of the shock and depending
19:41
on the stroke of the shock and depending
19:45
on the air volume of the sleeve because
19:47
there are lv and X
19:49
the air sleeves and SV I think or maybe
19:52
they've got written the XP anyway
19:53
there's there's two or three different
19:55
sizes for the air sleeve there are
19:58
limits as to how many spaces you can use
20:02
or how few spaces you can use and if you
20:05
go outside of that limit you're gonna
20:07
cause some damage most likely sofox if
20:10
you're worried about what what spaces
20:13
you can fit in you're shocked or you
20:14
want to find out how many you can put in
20:16
etc etc go on the Fox website they have
20:18
a really handy chart you basically find
20:21
out the size of your shocks so that's
20:22
the eye to eye length so that's this
20:25
shock pivot to this shock pivot and you
20:27
find out the stroke so the travel of the
20:29
shock and there's a really handy guide
20:31
that will tell you what the limit is in
20:33
terms in the minimum number of spaces
20:35
and then the maximum number of spaces
20:37
you can fit inside now the reason I got
20:39
this kit as I said it's really useful
20:41
for me to have in the workshop in the
20:43
toolbox just to use on test bikes from
20:45
time to time I don't have any at the
20:47
moment because we've only been back in
20:49
ours for a month and a half now so still
20:51
kind of building up all the spare parts
20:52
and so on but I do want to throw one
20:55
inside the rear shock on this canyon so
20:57
let me just drag this over here and
20:59
you'll get a bit of a better picture
21:00
good sorry this is live so I haven't
21:06
rehearsed this one so this is oh gosh
21:10
I'm trying to remember the size this is
21:12
210 millimeters from eye to eye and the
21:15
length I think is I want to say fifty
21:19
millimeters on the stroke I've
21:20
completely had a mind blank on that but
21:22
I think it's about fifty millimeters
21:24
anyway there is a spacer inside this
21:26
shock but it is one of the smaller
21:27
spaces I think it might actually be this
21:29
green one or this pink one I'm not
21:32
entirely sure it's one of these and at
21:35
the moment the suspension is working
21:36
really well it's very effective on this
21:39
bike actually but every now and then I
21:42
am kissing full travel I should say so
21:44
on a couple of times a ride even at
21:47
about the right amount of sag there are
21:49
some times where I'm running through the
21:51
travel and I'm feeling that bottom out
21:53
so you're hitting full travel and you
21:55
can see the o-ring down here I can't see
21:57
that - well there it is
21:58
ooh Callum Ogden is that a shock wheeze
22:02
that is a shock whiz yes good spotting
22:04
I've left that on here I've been just
22:06
checking actually this is this has been
22:09
really good for validating that if
22:11
anyone's not used to shock waves before
22:13
I can highly recommend it if you're a
22:15
bit of a suspension nerd you'll love
22:18
this it's really really fun to play with
22:19
and and even if you've got no interest
22:22
in suspension whatsoever if you've got a
22:24
nice full suspension bike it's worth
22:26
getting one of these on here and a
22:28
number of bike shops out there are
22:29
actually renting these out so you can go
22:32
into your local bike shop and if they do
22:34
offer that as a service you can rent it
22:36
out for say a weekend spend a couple of
22:38
days playing around with it on the rear
22:40
shock and on the fork it will fit on the
22:41
fork tube with the longer hose and you
22:43
can get some information about how much
22:45
travel using and also what the dynamic
22:47
sag is so dynamic sag is quite
22:50
interesting because often it varies -
22:52
static sag and static sag is when you
22:54
sit on the bike and the suspension
22:56
compresses and normally you set up a
22:58
bike between 25 to 30% of its travel
23:01
with your weight on it so when you're
23:03
sitting on it and you've got your weight
23:05
on the bike and suspension compresses
23:06
you want the rear suspension to usually
23:09
sag about 25 to 30% of its available
23:12
stroke that's a general rule of thumb
23:14
please consult your brand of bike for
23:17
further details because some run less
23:20
sag or more sag than that this Canyon
23:22
runs 27 to 30 percent sag that's the
23:25
recommended setup for the rear shock on
23:27
this newer on CF so I'm running around
23:30
28% 29% so just under that maximum
23:33
amount but using the shock was has been
23:36
really interesting because when you're
23:37
riding the SAG can be a little different
23:40
to when you're just sitting on it so you
23:42
might actually have more dynamic sag
23:44
than static sag or in this case you
23:46
might have less dynamic sag than static
23:48
sag and that's I find quite interesting
23:50
a lot of that comes down to pedaling
23:52
dynamics and anti squats so when you're
23:54
pedaling on the bike and if there's
23:56
enough anti-squat in the system it'll
23:58
actually hold the bike up a little bit
23:59
more in its travel and then your dynamic
24:02
sag will be less than the static sag so
24:04
that's quite interesting so yes good
24:06
spotting there calendar that is a
24:07
Shoppers and very very handy it's also
24:10
good for knowing when you've hit full
24:12
full bottom out to be honest on this
24:14
shot I really know
24:15
it's it's quite easy to feel through
24:17
through the pedals through the frame
24:18
but there are some bikes out there where
24:20
the progression is so smooth and the
24:23
bottom out is so gentle that you can't
24:26
feel bottom out you know it's very very
24:28
difficult to feel that you know that
24:30
full travel so the chakras is quite
24:33
useful for that for measuring when
24:35
you've hit full travels so sometimes
24:37
what you're feeling what's actually
24:38
happening on the trail can be different
24:40
so this is a great little device to use
24:43
to to verify that basically so yeah
24:47
getting back to the spaces I'm gonna
24:49
bang a slightly bigger volume spacer in
24:51
here and the reason I'm gonna do that is
24:53
I want a little bit more ramp up towards
24:55
the end of the travel I want to avoid
24:57
hitting full travel on those you know
25:00
drop-offs or little jumps or you know
25:02
rapid kind of hits where you use full
25:04
travel and you and bottom out shock I
25:07
want to reduce that so I'm gonna put in
25:09
a volume spacer reduce the volume shrink
25:12
the volume down and with less volume
25:14
we'll get a more progressive end stroke
25:16
it also probably make the mid stroke a
25:20
little bit more supportive which I'm not
25:22
necessarily looking for because the mid
25:24
stroke in here is very very good it's
25:26
got a great platform really efficient
25:29
design and no problems with responsive
25:32
responsiveness or reactivity it's great
25:35
as far as pushing the bike through the
25:37
turf
25:38
excuse me through the turns pops out of
25:40
corners really well really really happy
25:42
with that but I just want to get a
25:43
little bit more in stroke compliance so
25:45
I'm gonna try a slightly bigger volume
25:46
spacer be interesting to see how that
25:49
goes because it might make it might not
25:52
be an improvement I don't know and so
25:54
I've got that kid in there to find out
25:56
but I just wanted to let you know that
25:58
get all these these colorful spacers are
26:01
available for you to purchase and you
26:04
can play around with this yourself and
26:05
if you're fairly confident with letting
26:09
all the air out of shock I'm threading
26:10
the air can and mixing these around you
26:12
do have to be careful obviously you
26:13
don't wanna get dirt inside here and you
26:16
don't want to put things in the wrong
26:17
place where they're not meant to be so
26:19
you do have to follow the instructions
26:21
very carefully but it's a pretty easy
26:22
thing for you to do at home I would say
26:25
easier than it is changing volume in a
26:27
fork because you don't
26:28
needing special tools to do it on the
26:29
rear shock so there you go that's some
26:32
volume spaces there I'll just get this
26:34
bike out of the way there we are and
26:38
those are 2395 in the UK and they are
26:43
available in Australia that's where I
26:44
sourced these myself I don't know the
26:47
price I'm guessing with the exchange
26:48
rate they're probably $45 or 50 bucks or
26:51
something like that so there you go
26:53
we'll have more information on
26:54
singletrack WorldCom fresh boots friday
26:56
on these if you want more information
26:59
but I'm gonna leave it at that I've got
27:02
loads of people tuning in here watching
27:04
live so welcome thank you for tuning in
27:05
I hope you've enjoyed fresh Goods down
27:08
under and if you like this format if you
27:11
want to see more videos like this let me
27:12
know because we're working on a few
27:14
ideas for our live Q&A videos and also
27:17
some other videos I've got planned over
27:19
summer so if there's anything you'd like
27:21
to see in particular bike reviews or
27:23
product reviews that you prefer to see
27:26
or perhaps a discussion about a
27:29
particular component if there's
27:30
something you want to learn more about
27:31
let me know I'd love to have your
27:33
suggestions because this is all very new
27:36
in terms of going live on YouTube so
27:39
we'd love to hear your feedback on
27:40
what's good what's not good and what we
27:42
can do better so let me know right I'm
27:45
gonna finish up I've got some some more
27:48
videos to do here and some pre-recorded
27:50
videos which we'll see on our YouTube
27:52
channel and Facebook page otherwise I
27:54
hope you've enjoyed watching and I hope
27:56
you've got lots of riding plans for this
27:58
weekend wherever in the world you are
28:00
I hope the sun is shining and if it
28:03
isn't doesn't matter
28:04
put on your raincoat get out there and
28:06
ride because you might as well and oh
28:09
yeah and this could be Christmas next
28:11
week so Merry Christmas or merry
28:13
whatever wherever in the world you are
28:15
and I hope you have a fantastic holiday
28:17
break I might see you next week I might
28:21
be a hugger I don't know it's gonna be a
28:23
big week to be honest for me so so we'll
28:25
see how things pan out but otherwise
28:27
I'll see you next time whenever that is
28:29
and thanks for tuning in guys all right
28:31
bye ciao end of my video
