it's been a really solid trail bike um I

of blown me away in any specific way

it's not an

amazing uh you know boundary breaking

geometry or anything like that it's

pretty kind of conservative in terms of

the geometry on this bike um so you jump

on it and it just feels like a normal

trail bike it doesn't feel like a mini

Enduro bike um it doesn't feel like a

CrossCountry bike with a bit more travel

it just feels like a tra bike it is very

efficient I think that's probably the

the most outstanding feature of this

well um they use that triple pH

suspension platform so uh basically the

suspension splits into three phases your

the UK anyway um but you end up seeing a

lot of people kind of sold on this

message of hey you can go ride huge

mountains and you need 180 mm of travel

um but then if your local Trails aren't

like that and don't look like Alpine

mountains um then you can be over biked

and to be honest ends up being a bit

boring a bit dull um as well as carrying

around a slightly heavier it's just not

as inspiring I think so a trail bike

like this is great as you said for

probably 90% of people out there um it's

a great Do-it all bike it is uh as I was

saying the suspension is really

efficient um you've got that really

plush initial bit of the travel but then

it firms up quite quickly through the

mid-stroke you get great efficient

pedaling platform um and also really

good feedback through the pedals at the

shop we call it the uro effect says

effect we're talking about people being

over biked and being tempted into buying

they need the reality is a lot of these

modern trail bikes are really really

good you can ride them really hard

really fast the geometry is improving

the suspension's improving rims are

getting wider tires are getting better

we've got wider handlebars on on this I

mean these aren't huge these are 70s but

compared to what a trail bike had a

couple of years ago that is wide um

shter stand you've got a much more

stable and uh confidence inspiring bike

uh which you can ride quite a bit harder

test on pressure gauges on tire pressure

gauges and I wrote an an accompanying

pressure because with a lot of these

modern tires you run them at quite low

pressures and the difference between 20

psi and 23 PSI is quite a lot it's quite

a big percentage in terms of overall

pressure because they're a low volume

look for if you jump on single track

have managed to uh put a different Fork

on this bike at the moment this is the

stock Fork um but do have my hands on a

sh offset of this exact same Fork so

this is 51 mil offset and I whipped the

fork off the giant trance which is a 44

mil offset and bolted it on here um and

that's been a really interesting

experiment to see how the offset um on

this Fork changes the handling um I can

say the 44 mil offset made a big

difference to that highspeed stability

made a lot more planted on the front end

of this bike um and it's something that

uh that I actually preferred over the 51

mil offset um it's horses for courses

though they do handle a little bit

the bike though the dynamic sag is how

sometimes be different so I found on

that indicates whether you've got um a

actually funnily enough um had a

um to get a feel for how much

the sled cuz that bike had a load of

I was finding that on really rough bumps

could feel the chain tension kind of

the chain did a few downhill runs it was

noticeably plusher without that chain on
