Interesting about the a-c as I was hoping to increase my front end travel, that would put it past the recommended max, hmmm.

  • z1ppy replied to the topic Garage doors in the forum Chat Forum 3 days ago

I went for a two door system, using 3 panels, with a main door in the middle section. As I didn’t need to show the entire contents of my garage every time I pop into it or dragged a bike out. The door supplier was happy to upgrade/add locks as per your requirments.

For info, I can see your not local (and I used a fitter who was cheaper)..…[Read more]

  • I fancy some Yari’s and have found some “29+” model cheap, but don’t need the 29+ width. I’ve been looking for a while and the 29+ model are always cheaper then the normal 29 version, any reason why/not to buy them? (I want to upgrade them to lyric std at some point)

Off-hand all I can find of the recipe is a whole chicken cooked with 20 cloves of garlic, 20 bay leaves and 20 chilli’s… well I dunno what chilli’s he uses, but our normal (Apache F1) would kill me if I used 20

for me the Levo’s brose motor is so much better than the Shinao 8000 units*, added in the fact that you can get a 700wh battery for the levo, it’s complete no-brainer in my book

*I’ve not tried the ‘new’ bosch but the Spesh’s bigger battery is still a winner for me

  • sign up for the halfords emails, they have tool box sales regulalrly and the pro range is definetly better than most (though far from perfect)

Two of us have ali’s (& another 2 guys I’ve not met) and have carbon (one is an S-works) and you can’t tell any difference, unless you look closely at the welds. You can’t tell any difference in weight, & when there covered in mud, you can’t even see the welds. Spend the difference making sure you get a 700wH battery, as that a more useful…[Read more]

The Spesh is a great bike but is overpriced for the spec you get.

He’s not wrong, they are a fantastic package but expensive, so you should be looking for a reduced 2019.

  • z1ppy replied to the topic what petrol hedge trimmer? in the forum Chat Forum 6 days ago

    rail_rat
Worst use for battery is occasional use tools.
    Cut hedge twice a year.
Leave battery dormant rest of year.
Battery won’t have a long useful life.

BUT as batteries are inter-changable nowadays, if you have a couple of different tool to use it in, it won’t just be used twice a year & makes more sense.

    mtfu or is ptfu nowadays?
Though I remember standing on my the rim of front wheel, while trying to drag the front end up, was a lot of fun on rev’s.

PS: I got a ratio of 2.2 IIRC

  • z1ppy replied to the topic Going Sky free? in the forum Chat Forum 1 week ago

just a few months in, I really don’t miss it. We’ve freeview on the TV, which can record but it’s dodgy, as the scheduler does populate well. So were tending to watch stuff off more4, iplay, etc. We also have amazon prime, so aren’t without watchable boxsets.
If anything were just watching less TV.

  • z1ppy replied to the topic Yari RC vs 35 Gold in the forum Bike Forum 1 week ago

I assumed they were the Rev’s renamed, but I’ve read that the 35 is a complete new internals, not even motion control, & can’t be upgraded using other forks parts.
The Yari is the same chassis as the lyric, supposedly stiffer than the 35 or rev/pike. I go Yari & upgrade them to lyric standards over time (debonair & charge 2.1 upgrades)

  • z1ppy replied to the topic Ebay scam? in the forum Chat Forum 1 week ago

noting obvious, to my mind, you get cash, he take them away.. maybe ask for some identification and take a picture of that (& him) to prove it’s been collected?

  • z1ppy replied to the topic Winter Boots or what? in the forum Bike Forum 1 week ago

For me winter boots are the way ahead. I spent years messing with the cheaper ‘winter’ boots (really just wet weather boots), over shoes, sealskin socks & ended up wasting more money & still having cold/wet feet. Investing in some lake Mxz 303’s was the best thing I did, as there a fanatic winter boot & 4/5 years on there still a fantastic winte…[Read more]

  • z1ppy replied to the topic New biking jacket time in the forum Bike Forum 2 weeks ago

I keep looking for a replacement for my Deacathlon softshell, and have failed misearbly to find anything as good for 10 years, so I’m more than happy to recommend their kit… Will be going to check out that new MH500, as last year’s had tiny pitzips, and I won’t buy another jacket without decent pitzips.
