Just taken a walk into town and it’s almost t-shirt weather! 13 degrees, warm wind, I’m sweating away in a hoody and t-shirt whilst people are walking around in big coats, scarves, gloves and hats 😮 going out for a run in a bit, if the trails weren’t under 1ft of mud it would be a lovely day for a ride…
See I hate, no, despise the on/off shimano feeling, my old deore 2 pots were fine but XT’s on a demo bike, in the wet, I felt the front was going to just lock instantly the moment I looked at the lever.
Power is nothing without control. ;D
It’s a bit rainy.
It’s a bit cold.
A bit rainy. Quote of the year.

And cold? it’s been below 10 degrees for only 11 of the 21 days of February, so far here, with 4 days at 13 degrees. It’s sodding February! I’ve leave for woth at 6:30 and I’m have to de-ice the car probably less than…[Read more]
My E4s look amazing, and as long as set up is perfect they feel great. I’ve had problems with sticky pistons, and if they’re not aligned exactly power drops off significantly.
That’s what I’ve found with setup, however it doesn’t take too much to set them up right, not had any piston issues but then the bike’s only done 130 miles, albeit all…[Read more]
I have V4’s on my 150mm FS 29er and once they’re set up properly with the pads properly centred (you know when it’s right as the levers go from ‘a bit squishy’ to ‘FIRM!’) I don’t see how anyone could say they’re lacking in power. They just have a nice smooth start and then enless grunt the more you pull.
I’d be happy running E4’s front and rear…[Read more]
Built my new bike at the end of September, it’s not had a single ride when it’s not been covered in mud.
Just been constantly wet for 5 solid months now, I’m not even bothering this weekend, after the storms and rain it’s just going to be a mudfest plus dodging downed tree/branches.
Then you get a few days of no rain and think ‘ooh, it might be…[Read more]
Earplugs all of the time, then a Sena 10s bluetooth headset in the helmet.
Tomtom rider on the bars for sat nav on longer trips, plus phone connected for calls (if needed which has been less than 5 over 50k miles) and music, either commuting or motorway work.
If I’m just going local and need sat nav, just the phone connected and I can control…[Read more]
Kingdom Vendetta, if you’re OK with Ti.
They’ll do custom Geo on the top of the line model, with a choice of dropouts, cable routing etc.
1249 euros for the base spec non custom model, to 1699 euros for everything ticked on the custom model.
There are other ways to make a front end without a traditional telescopic fork, motorbikes have been doing it for years:
hey could get rid of the ‘fork’ legs and make the front end basically another swingarm, pivoting from towards the bottoms of the frame, and then a linkage for the the steering on a hub centric system.

Week 7 completed, just 2 weeks left now. Back to my normal slighly hilly route, which is getting slighly easier at the ‘summit’ on the home leg. This weeks runs have all been within 0.1km so nice and consistent, will keep the same pace for next weeks runs.
2.87 miles / 4.62km
25:09 moving time
8:45 /mile / 5:26 /km average pace
I’m starting to…[Read more]
At 38, I’m currently the fittest I’ve ever been. Took up running (couch to 5k) to keep the fitness up during the winter, not being able to get out on the bike more than once every 2 weeks sometimes sucks for staying fit. I’ve got 2 more weeks of C25K left and I’ll try and continue and get in a couple of 5k runs per week with another run increasing…[Read more]

If they’re lightweight tyres and you’ve got pinprick bubbles on the sidewalls, make sure not to put too much pressure in them, and if there’s more than a handful of pinprick holes you might have to return the tyre.
I had the same on a wtb byway tyre, this one wouldn’t stay up.
Otherwise, once you’ve ridden it a few times the sealant will seal…[Read more]
The Honda Crf Rally I alluded to is a 24hp 250 dual sport/trail/adventure bike with a Dakar style fairing/front end. It’s £5k new from a dealers. Its VFM compared to any ebike (or most analogue bikes nowadays) is slanted in its favour although I accept it’s not a like for like comparison it’s still enough to turn my back on ~£1k forks, £2.5k f…

OP you absolute frigging legend!
I have been looking for this dvd for a couple of years now, I watched this so many times when I had it (93, I would have been 12 so they must have included it with MBUK a few years later) that I reckon I wore out the DVD!
Looking back, I may have watched it that many times for another reason..
I vividly…[Read more]
In defence of SC prices (I feel dirty already…) the price of an item isn’t just the item, its also the service, after sales, warranty etc.
But yeah, a badge can add a lot to the price of something that is very similar.
