  • If you do want to go down the hardtail route then it’s a bit more of a minefield as cheap suspension is worse than no suspension. My recommendations here would be the Vitus Nucleus 26* (when it’s back in for Xmas – I hope) and the Whyte 403, bit of which we have in our Club.

    * I work for WiggleCRC and Vitus is one of our Brands – but I think t…

  • I’m fully with the OP on this. Also everyone getting on their high horse about cycling on pavements… 1. no law specifically exists for “cyclists” and pavements, it refers to carriages, and carriages under law include cycles..pedant. 2.the police were pro uded guidance about how the “law” is applied and that it should not be excessive where it…[Read more]

  • Sui replied to the topic The power grid in the age of EV's? in the forum Chat Forum 6 days ago

Simple answer to this is NO. There is ZERO chance of the grid being able to cope with a complete EV roll out throught Europe. There are some recent papers by the EU commission which are now publicly aavailble, that despite the 2050 “goal”, there will still be a 70% reliance on liquid fuels accross the entire energy markets (this inlcudes…[Read more]

Damn it i dont need one….

HOWEVER having just got a ROBOVAC (Ecovacs Deebot 950), im a convert to all things automated. like the floor inside, my garden is fairly large too and whilst it would make my rather lovely Toro lawn mower redundant and no more stripes, i like the idea of a mower busily scurrying around every other day – and putting…[Read more]

Tj, the rims were crap, most people knew this at the time but they replaced within 24hrs no quibbles with rims that are bombproof. The rear hub alone rrp was more than the entire set!

I know theyve ha some issues, but generally if your not an arse about things most companies will right their wrongs..

(excpet aquabliss who are an utter shit show)..

  • That’s a really impactful article from the ex fire bloke. The problem is not enough people Have this info to hand and make comments where they should simply keep schtoom. Very often I have this kind of discussions with normally well intentioned well educated people, but whereas I’m more likely to remain impartial without knowing facts, I find…[Read more]

  • Ah I looked at this when doing my house, everyone kept saying using salt, but frankly it’s environmentally dreadful.. Started looking at the “snake oil” type tui gs that use magnet type stuff, but couldnt find any evidence of them actually working.. Then, looking at filtration systems.. There are non that can specifically remove limescale in an…[Read more]

I can’t fault supers at either. Got a mega deal on som CK hubs laced to their carbon rims,. The rims were shiiit but they replaced them with some bullet proof dt 571s (I think-same ones that made it down a DH world cup without tyres). Been superb ever since. Spoke tension is tight, like really tight, but they work so I don’t care.. Only problem…[Read more]

The best quality and most comfortable boots that i have ever had are a pair of Lowa Elite desert boots.

Having used these in anger, i can confirm they are an awesome boot that doesnt’t fall apart (like Meindles do at the most un-opportune moment). Even better than Altbergs which are also awesome..

    However – not waterproof…[Read more]

  • No one seems to have actually answered this yet, but anyway. Rule 192 in the Highway Code states you

      should

leave a crossing clear in queing traffic. So whilst Mr Taxi man was being a nob , there are no legal requirement wording in the HC that rendered nob heads actions to be an offence so technically not in the wrong.

@cougar the risk of explosion is exactly the reason why they say no mobile phones. Whilst filling stations are not Atex rated, they do need to ensure that vapours have the least potential to ignite. Mobile phones can cause static sparking especially near a filling nozzle. You will have noticed the vapours when you fill up, they are a very real…[Read more]

The neoprene on the latest mw7s is split so a doddle to get feet in and out of. Also the rubber sole is proper grippy on wet slippy stuff. I’ve ridden through son axel deep puddles and my feet have stayed warm and dry even with the water dripping down my legs. It was the first time at the weekend almost ever that my feet were actually warm when…[Read more]
