You *may* find this doesn’t fit, but it should. See how close your current middle ring is to the chainstay. You can get spacers to adjust chainline.
Ooooh, I hadn’t considered this. Do you mean a spacer to push the chainring over on the cranks, or like a BB spacer?
I’ve got a press-fit BB92 bottom bracket & not sure how a spacer would w…[Read more]
Following a thread about this a while back, I have been looking into this for my 2010 Stumpjumper FSR, which still has 3×9.
Someone recommended an upgrade kit & just sticking a narrow-wide chainring on the existing crank.
SLX 1×11 can be had for a decent price:

Just tried it on my phone and works fine for me – set a reminder in calendar for mid 2020 and it was in the reminder list for the same date/time.
I’ve got one of these:
although they sometimes come down to £50 or so, which is what I paid.
Still probably worth £70 to be honest.
Legs fold up & head collapses downwards. It ends up pretty compact & it’s all held together with QR clamps, so probably only takes 20 seconds or so to g…[Read more]
…oh, and regarding the reading….I would just get out and do stuff.
I use the technique of reading to tell myself I’ll start doing something just as soon as I’ve learnt a bit about it…
– Improved time management
– Training for fitness
– Using flash more effectively for photography

Nice write up – thanks!
I have it’s precursor (from 2 years back I think) the 1200. Same body / lens setup by the look of things.
I did debate the 1200, as it was even cheaper but was a bit wary of how bright just the road beam would be (I needn’t have worried) given that my old light is supposedly 900 lumens. I suspect that value is a b…[Read more]
Thanks for that. It’s a light that was on my radar, mainly because I saw a used one for the same price and there are few road-specific beams around of good quality and power. Can’t be paying a ton for one but just received a faulty Moon Meteor Dual which is annoying, so once I get a refund I’ll be back in the game to find…
Bought a new light, which arrived a couple of days ago:
and might upgrade my Stumpjumper to 1x in the New Yr.
Very tempted to buy a road bike more suited to our pot-holed crappy roads; adventure road/gravel whatever – but think an n+1 is probably not really required…[Read more]
Month old thread here….
I ordered a Ravemen PR1600 bike light from fasttech.com about a month ago. Dunno why, but it was reduced to just under £50. I’ve just checked the website and it’s currently on there for £93! God knows why it was so cheap when I ordered it.
It arrived yesterday & I know a lot of people have been talking about getting lights that are more suited t…[Read more]

I can’t remember the airport, but we’ve been to one with a gold vending machine. Seemed a bit strange.
At uni we had a Pot Noodle vending machine.

Well as an update in case anyone is thinking of ordering one, my Ravemen PR1600 arrived today; ordered on the 3rd Nov (a Sun) and arrived on 4th Dec.
When i bought it, it said it was gonna be plain packaging (no original box) to keep cost down, but it seems to have arrived in the full retail packaging.
Definitely not fake. I’ve only had a quick…[Read more]
I’ve done it a couple of times where I’ve made a route and mistaken a farm track for a single lane country road…..
With 23c tyres on, it’s not exactly pleasant & the first time I did it I got a pinch flat. The second time I did it, one of my rear lights bounced off the mount & was never seen again.
So – I keep eyeing up gravel/adventure road…[Read more]
I’ve got a cheap kitchen knife that I’ve had since university. It was a cheap one from Tesco – I think it cost me a fiver.
It’s a bit crap at holding an edge, but is comfortable to use & well weighted.
I decided to try & sharpen it a couple of years ago, so bought a whetstone from Amazon & set about with it one evening. I posted these pics on…[Read more]
…and what is the mechanism to get coolant water into the exhaust? I am a long way from an expert on engines, but don’t see how the coolant circuit would get anywhere near the exhaust.
And surely you’d notice a 4cyl engine running on only 2 cylinders….?

Order placed on 3rd Nov & have just had a text from Royal Mail to say it’s cleared customs & is in their system.
Basically 30 days to get here from China so far – hopefully it’ll be here in the next week or so.
Estimated delivery was 45-60 days, so should beat that. I’ll do a little review when it gets here…
