Way back in the ’90s the swimming pool in Hathersage did a good breakfast.

  • pyranha replied to the topic when to end a relationship? in the forum Chat Forum 2 days ago

I know you want to stay geographically close, so your son can easily move between homes, but I would be wary of buying too close – you really don’t know how either of you would react to the other starting a new relationship and if things get difficult Bumping into each other (and partners) could be unpleasant. Of course, it could be perfect.

Back to windysurfer’s question. GMPs are the part of the pension which your scheme provides to you in place of SERPS – if you have a GMP, your scheme was contracted out and you were a member between 1978 and 1997. GMPs are unequal because they partly mirror the SERPS calculation, so have unequal retirement ages etc.

For how long will the kids share a double. If you get to a point where they want separate beds, will they go to bed before you? If so you would need to sleep on the converted dinette. Would that work?

Or would you be better with bunks at the back – generally (I think) the lower one folds up to create a ‘garage’, albeit narrower then under a double.

Thanks, all. Think I’ll look at the cable tomorrow.

  • pyranha replied to the topic Satellite TV reception in the forum Chat Forum 1 month ago

Done an auto tune – get a listing, and can select channels, it’s just that the reception then is variable. Looks fine for a few minutes, then pixels, freezing etc.

The TV says it’s looking at “ASTRA 28.2E, LNB Frequency 9750/10600” (that’s how it came, I didn’t select it)

  • pyranha replied to the topic Satellite TV reception in the forum Chat Forum 1 month ago

It’s Sky HD. And yes, as far as I am aware, we can continue to view the free channels via the Sky box, but I was hoping that having a built in receiver would allow me to ditch the Sky box, and have just the one remote control.

There’s normally people here who know stuff. So I’m hoping someone can help.

We just bought a new TV, which has Freesat installed. I thought this might be a good moment, then, to ditch Sky and cut our costs. But I need to persuade my wife. This evening, I unplugged the input to our Sky+ box, connected it to the back of the TV and did a cha…[Read more]

  • I’ve used the Caledonian a few times, to/from Perth, Dundee and Edinburgh. There used to be some cracking ‘Bargain Berths’ fares (£11 each for me and my son) in the mid 2000s. I’ve also used couchettes between Ostend and Basel, Dover to somewhere near Zermatt, and Paris to St Gervais (for Chamonix), in the ’80s and ’90s.

We nearly used the one…[Read more]

  • Depends on your food boredom threshold. My current lunches (for a few years now) are a tupperware pot of raw veg (always carrot, cauli, tomato and mushroom, plus other stuff like radish peas, edamame, baby corn depending on what’s in the fridge), plus a bag of crisp type things. Then a banana mid afternoon. But you would have to prepare that…[Read more]

  • I have a feeling you don’t actually know what the AND part does. I presume what you want is for the formula to return the value in J3 if the entry in I16 is equal to that in I3. You are asking it to evaluate if (1) I16=I3 is true AND (2) that J3 is also true (and so on through the formula)

In which case the formula should be…[Read more]

Don’t rely on them stopping either, when you no longer have a qualifying child. On my return for last year, I stated that CB had ceased, and when but they still added it on at the full rate for this year’s tax code. The second person I spoke to was helpful (they aren’t all, and it’s not worth persevering if they’re not – just politely end the cal…[Read more]

The last sentence of the piece is really important – we had a strict policy of knotting the end of the rope unless you could definitely see that the end was on the ground. And, although I’ve been out of climbing for a few years , I’ve never seen people simultaneously abseiling on either side of an unsecured rope.

My wife fell over and hit her head on a rock (honest!) while hill walking in the summer, and was still feeling after effects weeks later. In particular, she said poor road surfaces made her feel sick as head felt like it was being really rattled around – as if her neck wasn’t fully isolating her head from the vibration.

My son has some, which has changed how he sees things in computer games quite a lot. He wears them occasionally , but they do put some extra strain on your eyes, so you can’t just put them on and keep them on – the literature Pilestone send you does say this. Whether they work is, I think, sensitive to the amount of light – so a screen, or a…[Read more]

Later I had an interview in the Bridge Inn in Kendal – got that one too.
