Thank you for all the replies. Will be ordering some stuff tomorrow.

  • Messing with R4 is one of only a handful of things that would get me out on the streets (probably with a grammatically correct banner showing mild disapproval).

Reminds me of the flood of complaints when someone on the news team used the phrase “one pence” a few years ago.

  • Happy to pay it as the BBC is still the best of its type in the world. People tend to focus too much on what BBC1 puts out (and yes much of it is tripe) but they fund and produce so many other top quality shows on TV and radio that probably wouldn’t be made otherwise as they will never have mass market appeal.

I would genuinely pay my licence…[Read more]

Will check out The Rutles album ta. And yes would be interested in what Bonzo albums stand out.

  • Salad in general but raw tomatoes in particular. Love them and have them almost every day one way or another. Mrs Kenny grows them in the summer which knock spots off most of the shop bought ones.

Was sad to hear he passed away last week. I loved the stuff he did with the Pythons (Protest Song is superb) and have heard a few other things such as Urban Spaceman and How Sweet to be an Idiot.

I quite fancy getting an album or two but with someone like him who had a finger in so many musical pies it’s hard to know where to start. Any tips…[Read more]

  • I don’t use one on my mountain bike (or cross bike on certain rides). Too much riding through sheep and other poo that gets flung up onto the bottle mouth.

Comedienne Lynda Smith summed them up perfectly as “Smelling of oven chips and disappointment”.

Has anyone, on either side of the debate, had their views changed by what they have read on this thread? Just this thread, not anything else.

My own views haven’t changed, but there have been a fair few things posted that have made me think.

    A lighthearted, but genuine, question.

  • Something to think about the next time you’re buying dirt cheap clothing or things like that. It’s cheap for a reason, and the reason is probably not a good one.

Indeed and I’m biking in the morning so off to bed. Have a happy Christmas whatever your views.

No but a majority for no referendum for at least the next few years. If the next Scottish election sees a change then fair enough but for now the voters do not want one.

The Conservative and Liberal manifestos said they were opposed to a second referendum. The Labour manifesto said they were opposed to one definitely in the first few years and not certain after that.

The majority of Scots voters opted for one of those parties. Therefore respecting the wishes of the Scottish people (as the SNP are very fond of…[Read more]

Don’t know why you guys are arguing about this. It’s a simple democratic right of a country to vote on its own future.

Totally agree. And in the election last week around 55% of Scottish voters voted for parties opposed to a second referendum.

Therefore all Westminster is doing is respecting the wishes of the majority of Scots rather than giv…[Read more]

A lot of you on your high horses here.

That’s a summer thing surely? At this time of year it’s more about being holier than thou.

I have all his books though haven’t read any for a few years. That’s only because they are so brilliant I knew them all almost off by heart.

If I had to pick out one though it would be the two way switch an the aircraft seat arm rest marked Wings Stay On and Wings Fall Off.

  • I think it could be but you’d have to be a good runner to carry your bike over the rockier bits. Also you would need the weather to be ideal for gravel bikes ie dry and above freezing to give you maximum advantage on the fireroad sections.

Overall though, as plenty others have said, a 29 inch hardtail is the best choice in general.

Do you have any data for that?

To be honest no, it’s just a gut feeling.

As regards the far right TJ, I would love it if you are right and I am wrong. I am not convinced though. When the Irish arrived on the west coast in large numbers they faced huge amounts of hostility and downright violence.

Re the polls question above. Yes they have moved a bit, but even as a unionist I’m surprised they haven’t shown a solid support for independence. Maybe as Brexit kicks in they will.

However if I was the SNP leadership I’d be worried that what may happen is that things settle down a bit, people shrug their shoulders and pretty much say “Ah well,…[Read more]
