I’ve got the dhb ones and also the race face flank with removable d30 pads. Very pleased with both

Is it recently that they’ve got smaller?

I’m a size 10 and have several pairs in size 10 from approx 3 years ago and they feel spot on

  • I’m just over 6 foot 2, running a Giant Reign XL at 495mm reach. Also have a YT Tues XL at 470mm reach.

I guess the Reign at 495 is not as long as some on here. But I’m not sure I’d want to go too much longer due to handling on tight sections

I noticed that in the manual and reckon it’s way too low. I run mine at 30% as I do with any other fork

Akers – hard to say for me if it’s better than a DHX2 as I’ve not tried one on the same bike.

I do think the Storia has a lot going for it though. First of all the hydraulic bump stop gives you that extra bit of support that you wouldn’t normally get with a coil. Second, it’s super light, I think its one if not the lightest coil shock you can buy…[Read more]

  • jk1980 replied to the topic Finale or Garda in April? in the forum Bike Forum 2 weeks ago

I’ve been to Finale loads, probably my favourite place to ride.

Although I haven’t been to BPW for about 18 months (so don’t know if it’s got a load of new stuff) I would rate as being much harder and more technical than BPW. Trails such as Cacciatore, Madonna, little champery and cavatappi are definitely a step up.

From what I hear of Lake Gu…[Read more]

I’ve also been helped by Jack at Mojo, their customer service has been amazing.

After buying my EXT Storia from them in September I’ve been tweaking and can’t quite get it right. They’ve been great on the phone, swapped a spring for me FOC, then also re-tuned my shock for me this week FOC with a one day turnaround time. Really impressed.

  • Spring rate I think is correct as I get 30% sag.

Part of my reason for the question is that I’m just wondering if this is part of the inherent ride characteristic of the frame – as I said it felt pretty similar on the super deluxe R coil. Maybe if that’s the case then it can be tuned out.

  • Thanks all, that makes sense now.

The Storia does have a hydraulic bottom out but it’s unfortunately not adjustable. I don’t think that’s the problem though, landing off drops the shock feels amazing, you barely notice the landing. The problem is in general riding, the shock almost feels like it’s on lock out all the time, just very firm, despite…[Read more]

  • Thanks everyone, all really helpful.

So am I correct then to interpret the leverage rate as progressive, but not overly progressive? I.e. if the curve starts high (3 in this case) does that mean the shock will move easily at first, moving through to the lower points on the curve, such as a value of 2ish, where the shock will meet more resistance…[Read more]

  • Thank you,

That’s not the one I remember, as I thought it was a spreadsheet, but nevertheless I’ve found the info I was after so thank you.

Can someone please help me understand the linkage ratio / an issue for my bike? Just want to check I’ve understood it correctly. I have a 2018 Reign. The Reign historically, pre 2018, as I understand it, has…[Read more]

  • I remember a while back on here there was a link to some online content that provided a comparison between different linkage designs.

Does anyone have that link please?

    Cheers

I’ve got the Joe Blow large pump, think it’s the Booster. Brilliant, great for general use and great for inflating tuneless.

I’ve also got a reasonably expensive Leyzne one which does in fact have a wooden handle. Would never buy one again though due to screw on valve head which is an absolute pain. Plus the gauge failed.

Thanks – I didn’t know how the negative chamber worked, hence the question over compatibility.

Although will it be able to recommend setup based on both high speed and low speed rebound?

Damascus – thank you I’ll do that. It’s for an older PP Shan so I just need to check I can get some dropouts first

  • jk1980 started the topic Hope pro evo hub in the forum Bike Forum 3 months ago

    Hi everyone

I’ve got a Hope Pro evo in 135mm QR. Does anyone know, can I convert this this to 142mm bolt through?

If it can be converted, does the wheel need to be rebuilt?

    Thanks

  • Sounds like I’ll be able to do this cheaper if I stick with Shimano.

My reasoning to want a full sram groupset was a sort of stop gap towards a new hardtail. I’ve got renewed interest in using it, but I know ultimately it probably needs replacing as it may be on the small side for me. So I thought if I end up using it enough and get back into…[Read more]

  • Thank you both for the help

Northwind – thanks that all makes sense and I think there seem to be a few reasonably priced on pinkbike at the mo.

What will make it or break it terms of price is if I need to change the cranks. Currently has a 2x setup and I’m hoping I’ll be back to bolt the sram chainring to the Shimano cranks
