BWD +1 but then I don’t watch any sport so it’s all a bit weird to me that it has become such an industry. I guess the competitors are really just part of an entertainment industry partly fuelled by media companies and partly by nationalism.

But for a lot of us, sport provides the main entertainment that we watch/follow, so why not? I’d far rat…[Read more]

6 and 7 generally have the job of being the first defensive positions up to make a tackle following a set piece, and also being first at a breakdown to try to win turnover ball from the tackle. The openside (6) binds on the side of the scrum with the largest area of the field, and tends to be quicker, while the blindside is often bigger and…

The price of gigs is a little bit random, I’ve noticed. Locally, I can go to see Whitesnake and Foreigner on the same bill for £64, Stormzy for £50 or Barry Manilow for £64. Simply Red, however, are £75 and Crowded House are the same!

And I did wonder who would book tickets for the Billy Ocean/Heather Small thing at Burghley last year. £50…[Read more]

I don’t think my 90’s in and around Kingston/Twickers was really very different (including living on the Cambridge estate) … perhaps a bit of spill from London but nothing like today.

The Cambridge estate – that’s a blast from the past. I lived in New Malden from 89-91 and used to walk past the estate a few times a week. Never saw any troub…[Read more]

Also, the where did you have it last question, ‘If I knew that, I’d not need to look!’

That suggests that you have a degree of common sense, unlike my MiL who regularly loses her purse and spend the next hour ringing every shop or café she’s been in that day, ringing my wife to tell her she can’t possibly do whatever they were meaning to do,…[Read more]

According to someone on the thread linked below a cracked Orange is a rarity. 😀

Adam Jones – the master of “cleverness” at the scrum!

He’s not part of the WRU coaching team, is he?

  • IdleJon replied to the topic Rugby 2019 – 2020 Season in the forum Chat Forum 6 days ago

The team who has made a specialty about being “clever” at scrums and who has a coach to coach “cleverness” at scrums complaining others cheat!

What now? They have a coach in addition to the normal scrum coach(es)? And I can’t say that I’ve noticed Wales being any more ‘clever’ at scrums than anyone else.

You’ve got a very short memory (or have a very strong definition of proper winter kit).
2017/2018 winter was the “beast from the east”, even in the sub-tropical south east it was minus double digits.
    Winter 18/19…….. I

They were very short term events around here – how long did the Beast from the East actually last? All winter, or just a few weeks?

  • We currently live on Anglesey, so most decent mountain biking is 1.5-2 hours drive away despite being in North Wales.

    😀

You managed to live in the only part of Wales with no decent MTBing!

That Britain has rain isn’t really a new thing, we’re f****** famous for it.

One of the wettest, warmest winters follows 18 months of abnormally dry weather, with record high temperatures in the UK.

The rain outside doesn’t suggest that the climate is changing – the fact I haven’t needed my proper mid-winter riding kit for several years just might.

Yeah, in the scene in the garage when they were doing the prep I’m sure someone referred to them being a proper professional race team, then the hattery fails on the start line and the GPS doesn’t work. Very professional!

It did occur to me that maybe the BBC budget didn’t stretch to hiring a competitive car and team, but maybe went far enoug…[Read more]

What’s weird for me is they seem like a couple, they even seem, to me at least, to sell that idea, but they’re not they’re cousins.

  • There’s some half-decent trails at Thetford – nothing to test you as such, but they are good for a blast round. There’s a couple of waymarked routes and loads of off-piste stuff.
Depending on whereabouts you are going to be, you can get to the car park at Brandon in <40mins.

    It’s all just noise.

    Just noise, innit.

When you say it shelves steeply at the waters edge, you obviously don’t mean that the steep bit moves?
