So, Haskell’s in the Jungle on I’m a Celebrity. I might just watch it.

He’s also signed a contract with Bellator to fight in heavyweight MMA. He presented some of the UFC coverage last week. (Apologies if already mentioned!)

  • IdleJon replied to the topic anyone hear of Computershare? in the forum Chat Forum 3 hours ago

Good advice above, Computershare are a legit company (we use them for our company share scheme) but that doesn’t mean to say whoever contacted you is actually from Computershare.

I had a similar letter from a financial company this time last year. It was legit – I’d had a life insurance/assurance policy about 15 years ago that I’d totally forgo…[Read more]

Lots of my favourite albums already mentioned, and quite a few that I need to investigate further. I’ll suggest….

    Lloyd Cole – Rattlesnakes

He sort of passed me by in the 80s. I just didn’t get his music. I’ve been listening to this a lot this year, though, and think its genius.

  • We all sat down to watch it. The 12 year old disappeared about halfway through. The 8 yr old asked if it was real. 😂 All enjoyed enough to watch again next week.

Nitty Gritty comb in conditioner here even with youngest long and curly hair. Its not a popular task but does work.

    +1.

We found that the expensive treatments didn’t work particularly well, and if the kids got reinfected we were literally flushing money down the drain.

I would wash their hair, then put loads of conditioner in and use the n…[Read more]

try and earn more money to buy better ‘things’ that make us appear more successful?

Excellent, I can use the same quote as I put on the BMW/Audi driving thread tonight…. 😁

This planet has – or rather had – a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for…[Read more]

People have different priorities and spend money in different ways, it’s not waste to them.

I was chatting to someone at work the other day who was surprised that I’d just spent £250 on brakes for my bike and that I fly kites that are worth up to £1k.

Indeed. I wouldn’t for a minute tell anybody what to spend their money on.* But when you’re…[Read more]

  • They used Iggy Pop’s The Passenger. It wasn’t long before they had edited out the line about the city’s ripped backside.

I’ve known the lyrics to that for years, and just re-read them to make sure I’m not missing something, but I can’t see that they’re as rude as you think they are.

I agree with TJ about Walk on the Wild Side though. I’ve…[Read more]

Why is this always used as some sort of insult, of course they are leased who in their right mind puts cash into a depreciating asset when for a few hundred a month you can have one,

    How many hundred per month?

Someone I know spends over £500 per month leasing the two cars in the household. I’m not sure how much I’d need to be earning befo…[Read more]

Without going back to check. I did not forsee Japan beating Ireland at all.

I don’t think any sensible person would have predicted that Ireland were going to be so poor this RWC.

The English press, to be precise.

    No. The British national press.

  • IdleJon replied to the topic Rugby World Cup Thread 2019 in the forum Chat Forum 1 week ago

England losing works for a lot of people.

I don’t think so, in this case, being English media. The news report felt like they were looking for an excuse for England’s loss, other than SA were a better team on the day.

  • IdleJon replied to the topic Rugby World Cup Thread 2019 in the forum Chat Forum 1 week ago

I noticed that the news last night reported the game with words along the lines of ‘South Africa wanted the win more because Kolisi would be the first black captain to win the cup’.

If only the rest of the world could find something to motivate them, eh?

  • IdleJon replied to the topic Rugby World Cup Thread 2019 in the forum Chat Forum 1 week ago

It isn’t an old English team, the spine of it will be back in 4 years. You can take heart from that.

    It isn’t an old S.A. team… 😁

    Ok, I was wrong,

First team to win a World Cup having lost a game. Told you that Wales didn’t need to beat Australia. 😁

Beautifully set up try. (First ever for SA in a RWC final!!)

  • IdleJon replied to the topic Rugby World Cup Thread 2019 in the forum Chat Forum 1 week ago

That England assault on the S.A. line, there were at least 5 penalties, 3 neck rolls and Faf intentionally offside. How that wasn’t a yellow I’ve no idea.

Because the ref didn’t see them, or didn’t consider them penalties. This is the same ref I complained about last week and was told not to. He is immensely inaccurate.

    SA fans had actuall…[Read more]

South African Loosehead KEEPS collapsing the scrum, but referee keeps blaming Dan Cole!

That’s weird because Cole is complaining about Mtwarira driving upwards. How can he collapse the scrum by driving up?

(Back in 2009 the Lions test hinged on scrum penalties given against Vickery. His opponent was Mtwarira. I remember complaining on here t…[Read more]
