    Question
are spokes for the drive side of a wheel and disc side shorter then the non drive and non disc side?
    Answer: yes
so why is this? Any one!
Dont bother i already know and as this is the case when building wheels correctly equal turns either side will build a fairly true wheel.
you may need to adjust the dish side more but You will make that decision when your put the wheel in the bike frame or in your truing stand.
my first wheel build: aged 13.
My first job aged 14 in my local bike shop.
Time i have been in the cycle industry:17 years.
Wheels built: i couldnt even remmber.
Wheels built dead straight just using spoke key and tm1 tool: 3 this month.
Wheels built with spoke key and plumb line whilst a teenager: to many to mention.
Wheels built …… Well you get the message.

pit locks for wheels & stem cap boltt hen a abus granite plus normal size so you have to pay attention to how you lock it and where.
    Cost £100 for d lock
    £60ish for pit locks
And if you want more secruity a coil lock.
Lock the d lock through the seat post tube and back wheel and the coil lock though the front wheel and frame to a decent post or bike rack .

    THIS IS FALSE
    http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/wheel-tension-measurement

    http://www.sheldonbrown.com/wheelbuild.html

@tom hughes i would advise checking these two site and cross referencing them
@ superficail if you would like to do them same you will see that my post is not false :)

    Kind regards zoota

    [quoteThis is false]
When using a spoke tension tool to check the tension of spoke on one side of the wheel you are aiming to have the spokes all similer tension and same for the othe side, if dished both side can have differnt tension but as long as the tension is the same for that side it will produce a straight wheel assuming every thing else is correct.
If this is not true what is the point of a spoke tension tool??

wheel building has never been easier (he says as if wheel building was ever easy) with to days double rims and spoke calculaters.
Wheel spoke require the same tention through out the wheel this can be achived by simplely count the turns of the nipple for each spoke, this is best done by laceIng the wheel with all the nipples screwed down to the last 2 lines of thread then go round the wheel tightening the nipple 1 turn at a time on both side till starting at the valve hole and finishing there repeat twice now with helf turns then check wheel for tension if slack tighten again with half turns and repeat this process untill you are happy with tension.
NOW all being well and you used correct lenght spokes for eaxh side wheel should be true, dished and centred…
If you are using a mavic rim dont let the weld join fool you in to thinking your wheel has a hight spot!

Lastly the best lacing pattern is 1 over and 2 under. This how the spokes cross each other
Hope this helps or if you are local to essex il f do it for you

Drink from any tap that has a mains feed, dont drink from any tap that has water coming from any type of tank be it boiler or water tank in the loft.

i dont know what light you could use but as for where junior sleeps that would be intersting, if i was taking my jake who is 2 1/2 camping i would if possible take his travel cot as then he would be off the floor and would not be able to wonder off whilst you are a sleep or in another part of the tent Plus haveing his teddys in a familier cot like environment would hopefully help him sleep better.
This is what i have consider when thinking about camping with him aslo i would gps tag him some how

Thanks very much everyone for the input, me and the missus will be focusing on the airedale line for places to live between baildon and burly wharfdale, guiseley seems to a big attaction at the moment.
Just out of interest why is shipley a no go as on paper it seems ok, is it a ethinic or chav
    thing?

All these post are excellent info, the main reason for train commute is the missus will have to work in leeds to continue with her career and does not drive.
Northeast leeds looks very nice, a quick look a prop prices makes it a bit of a strecth for us.
Missus has halifax on her mind as she thinks the house look village-y !!! I suppose this is a clue to what she is looking for!
For my self I am more focused on what me and my sons can do outdoors and recreactional wise, im very friendly and easy going so a good communinty would ideal.

the question is why are the logs being put there! Is it to do with cyclist or illegal off road motor bikers…
Either way as previously said above it needs to reported before this vigalantee starts using more seriously dangerous methods.
you could star raising awareness with local horse riding club and local authority’s but unless there is a injurie or serious accident the police may not take much action.
Photograph as much evidence as possible and start keeping a diary of new obstruction.

erg valve could be a possiblety but on my mates mums zaferia I change the exhaust and the problem was fixed, if you use your car as a town car and do lots of small journeys then the exhaust back box gets clogged, best way to test this theory is disconnect the back box from the engine side some where under the car at the back and start and test revs.

i would not drive in to london as you would sit in traffic more then you would do anything else it would be best to come in to london from the a1 and find some where to park near the northern tube line or Piccadilly tube line alternatively you could come round the 406 or m25 a bit to mine in romford park on drive at mine my local station in 15 mins walk and travel to city of london is 20 mins where there are tube links in to the west end.
i also have a gold card that you borrow that would get up to 4 people when presented travel cards for all of london for the day for £5.60 each.

Wow Wierd one this, they safely escorted of there land in there eyes and in your eyes they forcibly did so.
If you was grabbed that would be assault regardless of tresspassing, any boby found tresspasing needs to be informed that they are tresspassing first then ask to leave or accompany the landowner/ landowners agent of the land

i find this thread a bit stupid!
if you are confident to cycle on the road and you are not worried about the recklessness of certain motorist then ride in the road, if you find it safer and do so courteously ride on the pavement.
until we get safer allocated cycle lanes that have barriers to stop vehicles entering the lane or parking in them then ride where you feel safe.

if the driver repeatedly try to ram your wife and bike i would say thats attempted murder not dangerous driving and i would go to the police station and request to speak to the inspector in charge plus i would not say the driver stopped short of my wife i would word it as luckily he did not actually strike my wife

i will second wwaswas comment as running the bike with 140 will change the geometry and would make the bike handle differently, best to check the cannondale site to see what they recommend for max travel for your model.

forgot to say the industry suggest kids be at least 9months old before carrying them in a seat but they also say as long as the child can hold there own head up by there selfs they should be fine, my son held his head up by himself from birth and was in the hamax by 6 months.
we also found that pram muffs and child carseat straps pads was good to use to add comfort.

i use a copilot limo with a ex1 disk rack and pannier mount seatpost clamp. before that i had a hamax siesta and fiddled it in to place to work
i find copilot and black burn ex1 disk more secure.
if you need i could post some hd pics of my set up so you can get a visual idea..

This evening I fitted xt brakes to my mates bike and he had g3 rotors The exact set up you are describing.
I fitted Them fine with his existing post mount but I did find the pads where very Close to his rotor as if the g3 was thicker then the shimano rotors and I fear if these had new pads in them they may be bind!
How ever I got them running freely.
I have a funny feeling they may be loud and squeal, a quick google showed a few people who used g3 rotors with xt brakes also found them noisy.

best to try some pain management, if pain is to intense then have your doctor prescribe alternate pain killer quarterly, this will be the safest way to avoid addiction however your liver and kidneys will have to process these meds so do your best to eat healthy and avoid booze, milk thistle will help break down the ensimes in food and meds to help take the load of your liver

Take the wheels of and take them in then try and take the frame in if not just keep the wheels in your room safest way to avoid a loss
