If say the pub landlord was having a heart attack and no abulances were possible then I would say driving him to the pub even if pissed would be acceptable. You would have to order a taxi back though.

Instead of a willow chair you could make a willow saddle. You get an upgrade and a happy wife-sorted!

Edit spongingmachine, you just beat me too it!

Sound- that annoying squeek that you can't locate for weeks.
Smell- the smell of inner tubes as it means I'm probably changing a flat tyre

Damn damn and damn again. Away that weekend and it's right down my neck of the woods as well.
    Next time eh :(

Those early mornings when you Can actually smell the summer. The smell of pedros dry lube is quite somthing as well.
As for sound , the sound of the rear mech smacking itself senseless against a steel frame is nice if only just because it means I am enjoying myself.

    For me
    1 penmachno – it's just awesome
2 whites level – fun from start to finish
3 skyline- if only for the last descent

also liked tawr trail at cyb . Can't say I think much to brechfa either though seemed like a lot of fire road climbing for very little downhill action. The last section on the red was good but can't say I'd go back.

    Fishing
    kayaking
    watching football
    drinking wine

used to do loads of carp fishing but mountain biking took over. With fishing you can spend entrie weekends and get no fish, with mountain biking the downhills are always there after you've cycled up.

Really fancy giving climbing a go as well

My juicy 7s can sometimes be a little fiddly somedays it takes a bit of effort to insert the new pads and some days it's dead easy. Probably more to do with the pads than the caliper I'm sure.
Oh and for pushing the pistons back a wooden spatula works well – just the right size, good leverage and less likely to break bits than a screwdriver or knife.

had a stack of spacers on mine but since I've had the forks extended to 120 it works without looking so odd and it's changed the handling brilliantly. It's a 16 , showing a bit of post but fits me fine.

Have a shadow v . It's very light and very hard, not much padding. I like it though. Had a rocket v before had more padding and the stiching wore quite quickly , was also comfy though

Shame you are off the bike for a few weeks as a ride can solve most things. When I go a bit darkside I usually get out and ride, go for a really long walk or go for a run. The latter two may be an option for you. Ps I could ride fairly flat trails after about 5 weeks (with a wrist support) when I fractured a scaphoid, so won't be long before you can get some miles in.

    20 psi front and rear.
using nobby nics snakeskin 2.4s any more and they bounce you around a bit when the going gets rocky.
Used to use panaracer fires and always had to put a minimum of 25 in them to avoid pinchies, no such hassles with the massive nobby nics though ( although saying that has probably just jinxed me)
and am around 10 stone that helps

I've used superstar sintered in my juicy 7s and now Kevlar and no problems to speak of. I seem to get through them mind but the bike is used 7 days a week and it's quite sandy round here so I don't expect to get more than a couple of months out of them.
Anyone tried superstar rotors as one of mines a tad warped – or indeed any other recomendations?

She clearly should gave given them Both a damn good seeing to, to show them the error of their ways.

If your on a hardtail some tyres with big volume may be nice as it's fairly rocky. Other than that go with tyres thatyou have confidence in

Hmmm excellent. Made me want to strap some lights on and go back out on the bike. Done my share of biking today though

A skills course is seeming more and more a sensible option! But for today it will be a case of just getting out on the bike :)

    No that's right- not an ambi-turner? :)

It's weird as. Know I need to drop inside elbow and although I am normally left foot forward (although very right handed / footed) I always lower the outside leg in corners. Am rececently wondering if it's because I nearly always unclip my left foot when dismounting and feels a little weird dismounting to the right. So am practising that more to see if that helps. Prior to that I was putting it down to a week left knee but the knee is mostly fine now.

I need to figure out why I can't turn right properly. Left is cool- any tight right handers though and I'm done for. The better the rest of my riding is getting the more this one thing stands out.

Singletrack is clearly the best mtb specific mag and web forum (IMO) but not beyond criticism. Nice to see a quick apology for a knee jerk overreaction though.
Although I'm thinking a forfeit should be in order!

Hot water and degreaser somtimes does the trick. Wash the pads and rotors wth it and then rinse (numerous rinses may be required) then get them hot again by braking. It's worked for me in the past but I'd still change the pads if you have spares.

White van man gave me zero room between him and the metal fence to my left a few weeks ago. He ended up with a nice scratch down his van from my handlebar grips and looked somwhat suprised when I caugh him up about half a mile down the road at some lights and vented my anger! If my handlebars had caught the fence and not his van it could have been curtains on such a busy road.
He must have thought he would get to the bit with he fence before me if he put his foot down without considering that not all bikes travel slowly. Mind you commuting to work by bike Is a dangerous thing as many drivers just don't seem able to look and think at the same time.

Sounds like you didn't do anythink wrong so carry on and when you signal and move do it with confidence so dozy drivers can have no doubt about your intentions.

Red wine and coke. Weird but utterly wonderful. It's called a callimocho, got put on it by some drunken Spanish folk in Rioja.

The amount people pay for 2nd hand bike bits astounds me. I sold some used lx cranks a while back and they paid £5 more than what you can buy them new from crc for. Still I'm not complaining.
Advice as above though really . Especially on the end time. Oh and check your postage costs before listing as I've had some parcels cost a tad more than expected!

I would do W2 starting at whites taking in penythingy half way through w2 and then skyline. Except I wouldn't as it would most likely kill me.

The last descent is awesome. If it were me though I'd take the July shortcut and then use the extra time to do whites level, as it cuts out a load of fireroad and adds in some of my favourite bits of the whole of afan. Was up there last week and did the skyline( with shortcut) and there was still snow up the top , was bloody freezing up there as well so you'd do well to take more kit than you think necessary when you start! Have a good one :)

I use a neoprene jobby as it looks nice, but the chain and rear mech still make a noise. I tend to think though that if my bikes not rattling I'm clearly not going fast enough!
