Know what you mean sbout hd on demand in the evenings and yeh their menus are poor. Didn’t know sbout TiVo – what’s that?
The way I seem to see it is that getting shot of virgin means I’ll loose the on demand thing and the ability to record 3 things at once but having sky would give me more HD and the red button function. Don’t know if there’s much else in it.
Last week I was trying desperately to chase down somone in the distance who was on a retro looking hardtail and wearing a white full face helmet. I finally caught up with him and it turned out to be an old guy with a White cap and massive White beard!
Damn he was quick.
Q1 . On one hand the full sus will offer more comfort at the rear end but on the other you’ll be sat down pedalling far more, where as on a hardtail you will stand and pedal more often. I’d say get a test ride in even if it’s not on that particular bike, just try a full suspension bike fit a few hours and see.
Q2 . Shorter is probably right – not too short though!
Q3 . Nothing wrong with Boardman bikes – good spec for the money.
Ran a slot drop inbred with gears for a couple of years with no hassle at all. Never needed a chain tug and removing/replacing the wheel was no great effort, although slightly more fiddly than normal. There’s a knack to it but once you’ve done it a few times it’s easy ( helps if you put the gears into granny ring and smallest sprocket to give you some more slack)
Just got back from a weekend in Cornwall myself! No idea on road riding but I’m going to take the mtb next time.
One word of warning for you though – it is bloody freezing down there at present!
I have one.
I have a normal lid for 90% of my rides but like the parachute for trail centre type rides – or rides where I am likely to throw caution to the wind and go faster than I probably should.
It’s not going to save my face from the worst of plants but seems fairly sturdy to me and would definately save my gob from a good portion of impact. If nothing else it also provides peace of mind and a little more confidence.
As someone else said , it’s not designed to be a full face helmet, more something that bridges the gap between that and a normal xc lid. They are not particularly comfortable and they make drinking awkward but in some situations I’m glad to have one. All you have to do is read the otb face plant thread from last week – besides I don’t like dentists!
Jacket gloves hat spare tube pump zip ties camera wallet keys chain tool multi tool penknife shock pump puncture kit jelly babies 3 litres of water and Jaffa cakes …… I’d need frikken big pockets!
Personal preference but I’ve recently changed my mule to a mule nv and the nv is definately comfier, the cover is handy as well. I seem to be able to fit more in it as well.
Yep – had a takeaway in their rather odd miner’s cave room. Loads of history to the place – I like it.
You are right though – plenty of room in that old building for them to cater for mountain bikers – they could make a mint and still keep the bar for the locals to enjoy……
Aye Grunka, have had a few good evenings in the hall. The locals are really friendly – Halloween was kind if interesting though! And for the love of god don’t go in there if X Factors on!
Assuming the road type bike is for commuting or similar – buy or build a singlespeed for as cheap as poss. Then spank the rest on the mountain bike , could get a damn good spec steel hardtail or the like?
