OK, just checked and excuse me for being dumb but it’s not a maxle at all.

    It’s actually a suntour q-loc like this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/suntour-15mm-qloc-axle/rp-prod140259

    Apologies for the duff inforation!

The symptoms are the same, the axle seizes in the forks and I need to use a mallet to release it. The lock at the end opens correctly.

Odd, do BC tie them to accounts on crc? Definitely not used that one but I have done with a few in the past with no problems.

When you get home 15 minutes late because the brand new XT rear mech you fitted yesterday is bent and causing the chain to skip between gears. (As when you changed the tyre last night after indexing the derailleur it was late and you forgot to thread thread the chain round the pulleys).

Iceland seems to have a better way to solve the problem

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/stories-41973296/how-one-country-persuaded-teens-to-give-up-drink-and-drugs

That’s brilliant, one of the most positive things I’ve heard about recently.

Could never in my wildest dreams see either UK parents or government doing anything remotely similar (maybe I’m too jaded?)

I take it back. looking at the cable again it is actually impression stamped “shimano” every 15cm foot or so in in 2mm tall font.

It does seem to be greased too. Guess it is genuine but different to the retail packaged cable.

£45 for 80/20 FTTC With Arnold & Andrews includes line rental but no phone service
    150GB DL Cap

Pay a bit extra for this but would much rather give my money to these guys than anyone else I’ve found.

More details. Front lawn is ~40m^2, back ~180m^2.

    Honda is a 21″ petrol.

Any clues on the actual building cost (x * 1000)?

I cycle everywhere so no problem for me to loose the car.

The kids though cause a problem – I drive them to clubs 6 days a week. No way I/we could do this without a car, just not enough time.

We’re moving at the moment and the new mortgage is a 10 year fixed at 2.64%.

When we bought our flat 12 years ago we started out at 3.99 fixed for 2 years.

Our reckoning is with Brexit there’s only one way interest rates are going.

As long fixed as you can I reckon.

No suggestions here but are you sure an 8 year old wants/needs a 22 or 30 litre rucksack?

I use a 20L as daypack and this is more than big enough for me. I’d expect that someone half my size should carry somehthing smaller and lighter.

Carrying a fully laiden bag around for a whole day can cause the shoulder to ache, better to limit the size in my opinion.

6.9% Topcashback at the moment, plus you could get 10% off with British Cycling with >£100 basket (if you haven’t used your existing one this month already).

    £40 XT, £44 Saint btw.

    Was/is £40 for L+R m780 at JEJames!

    Depends on the price

Came down to this in the end.

m780 is £40 in JEJames at the moment (£45 + £5 off for code First5).

    No brainer…

Despite them never being waterproof I wouldn’t feel happy trying to claim a warranty on them as I’ve had them for some time.

I have just ordered a pair of the polaris socks suggested above, hopefully they work a little better.

Had the same recently, only way I could get it out was with a (rubber) mallet. Didn’t seem to do any harm.

So just tested them by submerging them in a sink of water and yes they let water in. It seems the water is entering at the toe on each sock.

I reckon you have a duff pair or VERY sweaty feet?

    Absolutely true this…

Not the sole cause though. :)

No, never tumbled. I have washed them a few times using Nikwax soap + proofer. They weren’t waterproof even before the first wash though.

No, definitely not rain running down the leg. I have worn them inside waterproofs with the overshoes over the top and my ankles will be dry but soles drenched.

Guess maybe I’ve just got a duff pair of seal skins?

Just looked at ours, it’s made by Trudeau.

I bought this in TKMaxx when we moved into this flat (12 years ago). It gets used most days and still works fine

Well that answers that I believe

I assume that refers to US license though which I’m guessing differ for UK/Euro ones.

Tesco current account will pay 3%.
Nationwide Savings Flex Direct saving account 5% (for the first year), you need to open a Flex Driect current account to get this.

Scrub that, this was the case a few weeks ago but looks like not anymore. Annoying as my current Nationwide account account ends it’s 5% period next week and doesn’t seem to be much good to replace it with.

I’ve been using a topeak drybag for a couple of years. Can’t fault it.

FYI I’ve done 11K in the last 19 months on an SP8X, mostly road commuting. Been faultless thus far (though the standlight on the B&M Cyo has failed).

    What impact is that?

Genuine question, especially in Scotland where, for example, you can get married to anybody by anybody (with a licence), anywhere you choose.

TBH I can’t think of anything connected to religion (barring the usual WoS OO pish) that has ever had an impact upon my life or that of my family.

My two daughters are primary 4 and primary 2. In each of their classes there are a number of muslim children. So far as I know neither they nor any of the other non-muslim kids in their classes haver every been invited to a birthday party or play day with any of the muslim kids (the converse is not the case).

Last week my eldest daughter had a class trip to the Glasgow Central Mosque. She had to cover her head, arms and legs to go on the trip, as did all other girls in her class.

I consider both of these examples demonstrate a negative affect on those involved and society in general. So far as I can tell, both are a direct impact of religion.

Some old innertube and your favourite seat post light…

For me 2 PlanetX Phaart and 1 Knog blinder. Phaarts are set to flash and blinder to constant

I’ve had a few people comment on how good visible this setup is, only problem for me is the blinder only gets around 3.5 hours between charges which is a bit of a pain.
