Mount Analogue by Rene Daumal and Micromegas by Voltaire are both amazing if a tiny bit shorter than Dune…

At risk of sounding impractical, Tobermory on Mull is totally fantastic. Great pub (mishnish) and cool places to stay. Beautiful coast walks and mountains. Boats trips and wildlife. Remote and compact.

Took a Turkish mate a tour of the highlands last year. Tobermory, then Portree then Ullapool. Tobermory was the absolute winner. Reckon that it’s still unconnected to the main land unlike Skye makes a difference.

Skye is also great but the weather always seems to be particularly fickle.

was bratislava earlier this year (half a day before flying home to scotland) nursing my worst hangover in years after a big night out in vienna (which is only an hour away on the train). don’t drink austrian beer with malt whisky when you bump into a musician you know in a bar thats open till 6am!

bratislava was nice place with a small but pretty old part of town. plenty small bars and restaurants from what remember as a couldn’t face food or even slip of beer.

im just getting easton arcs built up at the moment 45 on the front (to run a 29+) and a 40 on the back for a 29.

looking forward to trying them – replaced velocity p35s that have cracked at the eyelets after 5 years of abuse. no complains, just want to try something new.

i do lots of work with a sponsor of marks. he’s an impressive guy and cyclist but is an incredible planner as well. this has been worked on for quite some time.

i think even with support, this is a very tough one. i wish him all the best…

this weekend and last weekends big rides were both absolutely amazing. stunning blue skies and the trails drying out a little. a wee bit heat in the sun and nature waking up after a long gray winter. the best riding in months and im no fair weather guy.

getting out on my bike is really important to me – its time away from everything (not that im running from anything bad) and always makes me feel better. going out, im always solo and even managed to clear a couple of sections ive wimped out of before all have me buzzing.

    yup, mountain biking is awesome.

i manage a 30 minute spin on a very basic turbo most weekday mornings (i work from home). its part of my morning routine. its mind numbing boring but i really notice very quickly the difference when the nobbly tyre goes back on and hit the hills at that the weekends. its like extra gears!

i play some ‘motorik’ music and vary the intensity/resistance and i feel like I’m in a Kraftwerk video or something.

did i say its very boring? great way to keep in shape or get more in shape but very boring.

like many have stated, its different for everyone / height / type of riding but for me 29″ wheels are probably the single biggest difference to biking for me in the last 6 years. munched the miles, extended the time im out, generally feels ‘better’, more stable, smoother, faster.

totally not scientific but i still love the difference the big wheels have made after 20+ years previously on 26″.

however i absolutely love music my wife toils to even regard as music.

give me a unwavering metallic 3 hour drone any day – over any searching for the hero inside yourself…

Classic: judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind

    for me…
    The Holy Mountain
    Solaris (the original version)
    Enter The Void

All staggering odd but great. And brilliantly re-watchable.

to the op, i run my own one man design business and this stuff happens from time to time. id honestly say that for the amounts you are talking about its not worth doing much more than you have. and in future, get clients to pay 50% upfront and the remainder completion for the project. Minimise your risk – it’s been a learning experience for me.

i remain staggered how bad clients in general are at paying up (and on time) despite always needs stuff in a hurry… one client was 6 months late in paying for a massive project last year. And I had very little in the way of anything to ‘threaten then with’, in the end i played the common decency card and they paid up and Ill never go near them again. it took ages to stabilise things after that.

duplicate the background layer and edit what you want to remove in this new layer. you can then add this layer over any other colour/image you want to place behid it.

ill keep an eye out for your bikes.

Tim Presley’s ‘The Wink’, Oren Ambarchi’s ‘Hubris’ and ‘Quixotism’, Carl Stone’s reissue of ‘Electronic Music from the Seventies and Eighties’ the track Shing Kee in particular, all fried my brain. Robert Beatty’s ‘Soundtracks for Takeshi Murata’ also featured heavily. My poor wife!

2016 has been and totally astounding year for new ‘and new to my ears’ music!
