Echo Spokescycles, SRAM vs Shimano, no contest. Shimano wins everytime.

We get far more failures on SRAM parts, seeing as the vast majority of bikes come fitted with Shimano that speaks volumes.

As for Avid brakes, they make me lose the will to live when I have to try and get them to bleed/work correctly. Avid Elixirs I fitted yesterday, needed bleeding out of the box, I mean WTF is that about? £400 worth of brakes.

RZ140 no longer made, only in shorter travel RZ120 flavour now, already ordered mine for spring. About 24.5lbs complete for the RZ120 with the lefty, you’ll have about £500 change from £3k too.

    That’s nothing, new M980 freehub…

£149.99 WTF? The hub complete is only £189.99 8O

Not smoother, just feels that way with all the flex going on.

But yes I’ve had a quick spin on my lads 18″ WTP BMX just to make sure it all works ok

Here’s a thought, what if Vettel lets Webber through, then for some reason Alonso has a mechanical or something to cause a DNF.

Would Webber then be expected to let Vettel through to win the chanpionship? (Vettel would win through more wins as they would be level on points)

If Alonso has a failure then whoever won the race out of Vettel and Webber would be champion.

TBH there’s nothing wrong with the industry standard Kestrel workshop stand. Why would you need to bolt it to the floor if the stand is stable enough already?
You can bolt Kestrel ones to the floor if you wish, although I’ve had DH bikes upside down and at all angles and never had any issues.
Also at times you do need to move a stand around so bolting it down would seem a bit pointless, unless it had QR mountings.
You won’t sell many though unless they were bargain cheap, my Kestrel stand is about 18 years old now, all I have done is replaced the rubbers a couple of times.

However that light idea up there is a good one.

ugly or not its overpriced and a waste of money

    In your opinion obviously ;-)

How many of the above posters have seen or even tried new XTR in the flesh I wonder.

All new bikes have to come with 2 working brakes to conform to BS 6102, the WTP bikes we sell sell come with a really crappy sidepull front brake so it’s legal to sell. alot of frames now have removable brake bosses.

As for the bike, I’d look at WTP, Kink or Fit, all are good value and of course most importantly, still cool.

My lad has now turned to BMX, don’t dispair though, of my riding buddies the ones who were BMXers are usually the first down at the bottom of the hill.

An iTouch for a 5 year old? Mind you they don’t call me victorian dad for nothing.

My boy is getting a blinged out WTP Arcade 18″, I would have killed for a bike like that when I was little :D

Yeah prices have gone nuts, I had until 2 months ago a Civic type r, worth £11k, only £390. Sadly white van man decided to pile into me, so for now I bought a cheap Mondeo, not even £1k worth, how much for the insurance?

    That’s right a bargain tastic £520 wtf?

Got down to £370 in the end, 38, 6 years ncd and a clean licence.

Yeah pretty much, not full custom, just took a hex core PC and added lots of lovely video cards, cooling and over clocking, oh and a big monitor.

Not really confident enough to build my own.

It doesn’t seem alot cheaper to build youself, although I guess it’s quicker!

Yeah looked at Novatech but my mate had issues with them too. Tried searching locally for a good specialist shop but they seem non existant these days.

Westbury is ok ish, not alot in the way of shops though. Horrific traffic in rush hour as a bypass has never been built. There are lots of surrounding villages though which might be worth looking at, Bratton, Upton Scudamore, Dilton Marsh etc.

I would say you need to get onto rightmove and look around, or get in the car and go and look at the areas for yourself.I’m off out now for a few hours on the bike, if I see any bargain properties on the way I’ll let you know :-)

Not really, as you edge towards the South coast it gets progressively more expensive.

You’ll need about £200k in your pocket at least for those kind of locations, mihgt be worth looking at towns as they are a fair bit cheaper, AVOID Trowbridge, Melksham and the likes, houses are cheaper there for good reason.

I live in Warminster, I would suggest the Wylye Valley or the Deverills/Mere, certainly lots of riding around. Don’t think you’ll get cheap though, it’s a sought after area. Teffont would be my choice, could look towrds the villages surrounding Shaftesbury, good riding round those parts as the terrain is steeper!

TBH if you buy a hot hatch you should expect a fairly firm ride, I had a CTR, that was definately firm but bearable. To rectify my comment above most hot hatches eat fuel, I used to get down to 12 mpg to give you some idea.

The fuel consumption will rape your wallet, however they are fairly rapid hot hatches.
    Dare I say Octavia VRS?

I predict that the word “surf” will be mentioned within 20 posts

Couldn’t comment as I booked this week off for half term. Saturday was wierd though, £3.50 by 11.45 then went nuts until we closed. Must be doing something right this year as we are 22% up so far on last year, which will help pay for my new bike very shortly :-)

The flux saddles and others are not the same as a spoon, it’s to do with the way the cover is laid and fitted plus the stitching. Must be true Nick at Charge told me :-)

I haven’t had black ones in stock for ages either, I would wait for the new Pittards leather versions out soon, very nice looking.

New external style cranks are only triple at the moment, a duo spider from standard rs7’s won’t fit.

I lost faith with Which many moons ago when they tested some MTBs, they didn’t take into account cost differences and generally didn’t have a clue.
Think it was a Raleigh Lizard vs some higher end Marin.
I just look on the net for reviews.

I know that it can be a right PITA if you need to get the back wheel out though if your dropouts are fairly short.

I would say that front pads should be cheaper than that to replace. I just had front pads and discs, rear pads done on a Mondeo for £170 inc. labour. Go elsewhere, it’s only an advisory, not a fail.

It is a great bit of kit, I was playing with a prototype this week.
I’ve already ordered one, really easy to use touch screen, the option to arrange how many/where the menu/shortcuts are, is brilliant.
Also nice to be able to see the map display on your PC/Laptop by just plugging it in.

3/4 bibs with 3/4 baggies over the top all winter pretty much for me, although I have to say if it goes sub zero again this year I probably will get some tights. It’s keeping the hands and feet warm that bother me the most.
