I find it very hard to believe that just failed from just riding over a root. As with all these things we can all sit behind our keyboards and offer an opinion but unless you were there…

Who’s to say an impact before the race didn’t already cause some stuctural damage?

As for the rider proving his skills with his results is nonsense, even the best riders in the world stack from time to time.

Just ordered £291 worth of white DT aerolites spokes. Oh and some DT Ceramic hubs to go with, £630 the pair!

    I was once a ‘Special’

It was really to see if I wanted to join the Police as a career.

While some days/nights were full of fun chasing baddies in cars/foot most of the time was spent sorting out pointless issues and clearing up the drunks from streets late at night.

For all of you moaning about the Police try getting in their shoes and then see if your opinion changes, you can often do no right when it comes to policing the general public. TBH alot of the work the Police do should be for social services!

Avoid them like the plague, customer has bought a set in, already leaking after 6 months, no spares available in the UK.

It’s postively encouraged where I work

The boss is up 5-2 so far

The employee count is an all score draw 1 a piece

The boss does however get extra bonus points for 2 angry husbands in the shop

Err well my business does, LBS, b2b is vital, saves time and money.

Not much food grown round these parts either, think you’ll find if you go to your local supermarket alot of food is imported anyway, because it’s cheaper.

It may seem harsh, but what to do? Can’t really have one rule for one and one rule for all the others.

I sent some documents to Jordan before, that was via DHL, took 36 hours to get there. Not cheap mind, £80, so expect to be paying £100 plus.

Welcome to privatisation, if BT were still public I believe all those would have already had broadband in. (unless of course BT engineers were striking over pay and conditions or any other reason they can think of)

The issue with the shifter is that a 7 speed shifter has a longer push stroke and pulls more cable, so the cog spacing would incorrect.

I’m not surprised the midges can’t resist you

It’s the swarms of sticky flying things round the range road that I hate, what the hell are they? You ride through them and they stick to you, you encouter them?

I had to read that twice over to make sense. In short, no.
The chain would be too wide, and the spacing would be incorrect for index shifting.

However you can run 7/8 speed stuff together if nessecary.

Good point, I was finding hard to believe that a set of heavy wheels would be as easy to ride up a hill as light ones.

A pedal stroke is definately not a constant input of power, well mine aren’t anyway :?

The most important thing to remember when bleeding Hayes brakes in point the levers upwards so that the bleed port faces upwards. Stops over filling.

Yes get some new stoppers adn push the pistons back as TJ says, however some Hayes do drag for a few miles with new pads, you can ride them for a few miles and let the pistons free up a bit and let the pads wear a bit. Ideally you should get the psitons out clean them all up and re lube before re fitting, Hayes seem prone to general cack build up at the edge of the pistons.

    1) you would never really notice it.

    2) i’m not a physics genius but i’d say that was a fairly daft question.

Sounds like you are tall so longer cranks would suit anyhow.

    :-)

Are those front rubber inserts designed to be replaced?

I remember those Nike Nugabas/Poobahs, the shop I was at the time replaced loads as they mostly fell in half where the cleat was bolted in.

Nike in those days were excellent with warranty, I’d take them back to the shop and ask them to get Nikes opinion on them, remember they are a multi billion pound company with lines across all sports and clothing ranges, unlike alot of half arsed bike companies I have dealt with over the years who were cowboys when it came to customer service.

They stand to loose money in other product areas not just in you buying your next pair of cycling shoes.

I’d take shimano over sram anyday.
My experience is that the failure rate of sram is far higher, mechs are particulary vulnerable. Play in the main pivot can result in up to 10mm of movement at the end of the the jockey wheel cage.
Seen plenty of sram cassettes shear and lose teeth. Low end stuff like sx4/5 by far the worst.
Truvativ cranks are just as bad, arms falling off regardless of torque used to fasten them, chainrings bending.
In fairness we’ve not yet had issues with the chains though, sell quite a few too.

Well if it was me I would tell the Traffic warden to piss off, he has no right to give your missus a ticket for using her phone in the car, he can however give her a ticket for being parked on double yellows, perhaps he was trying to gain an exra ‘sale’.

Yep second what tomo says, he’s a business not a charity.

Try going into a car garage and ask to borrow their tools.

The last time I lent some tools to someone (a track pump) he then accused me of breaking his valve off his inner tube as he didn’t know how to use the pump.

I couldn’t agree more with the OP, I have to say though I would of reminded him that he shouldn’t be smoking at work. Put it this way would all those posters above be happy if their kids were in there while he was chuffing away?

Don’t let the miso gits get you down Bunnyhop

Yep a customer has some on his bike, they have already failed within a year and spares are pretty much unavailable, he also said they are very flexy and the damping is piss poor.

I think collections should be charged by weight, as someone pointed out why should I subsidise other peoples excessive waste generation?

Our bins round here already have RFID chips in them so it’s not far away. It’s up to you then to choose weekly/monthly bin collections.

Make sure that cost also includes the timing belt tensioner, if it doesn’t then they are taking him for a ride.

Yep, duo stylee and 5 bolts, with outboard bearings. You will only find 2 more in the world.

The Duster is definately not a lighter 2010 frame either.

Yep, I occasionally take my lad to work in the shop.

He likes makes big mountains out of boxes of inner tubes, chopping anything he can with the cable cutters and occasionally going up stairs and getting force fed biscuits and lots of cups of sqaush from the senior (retired) member of the family business.

Like this you mean? It can be fairly lethal, very twitchy steering but worst of all your foot will sooner or later rub the front wheel when turning. How can someone not know they are on the wrong way round?

Bit more recent, hard to imagine we were under inches of snow only 4 months ago.

Don’t forget to whip out the tax disc as you step out of the car as well, I always do this and when questioned I point out the price is for the car.
They will only whip it out for a refund anyhow.
