Well my experience of working today in my shop on a bank holiday went like this…

Open up early at 9am, get the coffee on the go.

    Finish off stock take.

11am sort out last 2 remaining repairs call customers.

11.10am look out window to see horizontal rain.

    12.30pm eat lunch.

12.50 pm first money of the day £9.98.

Plan which luxury yacht I should now buy with my new found wealth.

Accept to more repairs into the workshop.

2.00pm have a repair collected, second sale of the day, woo!

    3.50pm sell 2, that's right 2 helmets.

Go home as I've had enough now.

Honestly I have tried Sundays, late evenings, it just doesn't work unless all the retailers in a highstreet do the same. People go to out of town retail parks as they know the shop will still be open.

As he said, could just be the turbo hose.

Mind you having said that a mate just shelled out £1200 for a cat on a Volvo D5, and that was after shopping around a bit!

You could buy a garrett stage 2 for that money, does seem steep.

The Giro Skyla is smaller sized than the gents, it's adjustable from 50-57cm whereas a gents is 54-61 cm.

That huge post up there has reminded me of when we used to use Gateway shopping trolley handles for seatposts on our BMX's as kids

IIRC my brompton post is the size of an airplane fuselage

I once had the misfortune of once dropping a seatpost straight through the frame of a Dahon only to find my foot was underneath, it was like having a cake cutter driven through your foot.

Other than cleaning them, oh and maybe a bit of lube every 6 months or so when I can be arsed. Magura forks for me :D

I fix bikes for a living, I can never be bothered to fix my own.

Nope, a road mech (SS) will only cope with max rear cassette size of 28T, you could run a road GS cage mech but then you might as well buy a dedicated MTB one then.

The mechanic should have put the bike back together correctly. That is his duty and responsibility.

Absolutely correct, if I had done that as a mechanic I would without hesitation put everything right at no charge. I wouldn't expect anything less from a shop. An apology should also be given.

However I trust no other mechanic so always would check it myself.

    Why not?

Might be worth phoning another dealership and see if they can get you one, dealers are always keen to clear what they have already.

Check it is the same spec and model year as what you have ordered too because registration often has nothing to do with when the car was made!

Or haggle a discount for taking the car they have now.

Yep got one, find it much easier to use than a u lock, bit heavy mind if you have to carry it about, about 6 kilos.

I used to sling mine over my shoulder if I was popping to the shops until one day I had to stop in a hurry and the u lock smashed into my hips, I carry it in a bag now!

Yep watched it earlier, may even watch it again later.

You're lucky I charge £50 for a bike build from a box, and quite frankly I wouldn't be touching a POS like that anyway. You honestly expect a bike shop to charge a fiver? You have to pay a mechanic more than that per hour.

Prehaps you should get ASDA to build it for you, oh wiat they won't do that will they?

BTW it's the 21st century now and has been for some time

If you're having problems with shifting on a shadow mech it's almost certainly down to the cable housing length on the last run of outer casing, too long and the mech won't operate correctly. Seen it loads of times, I'll see if I can't dig out the Shimano documents and give you more info later.

Whatever happened to mint eggs? Same as creme eggs only with mint 'yolk'.

Also got some creme egg ice cream in the freezer yet to be tried.

What he said, however if she is in arrears with her rent until it is paid in full a housing authority has no legal obligation to help her out, so maybe get her out then let the LA know you're owed lots.

Don't pay your insurance monthly then cancel after a month, it's a credit agreement, insurance companies now issue defaults as you are liable for the whole years premium. Hardly worth screwing up your credit record for.

As above 850 estate, seen some around the £500 mark.

Trouble is I've got a broken window handle and my house isn't secure, the bikes live in a secure shed though.

This is almost as dissapointing as when I copped off with a bird from the pub only to find when I undressed her she had an inflatable gel bra

I'm going to have to stop reading the news, it makes my head hurt.

So it's ok for a pharmacist to use their beleifs inappropiately but you're not allowed to refuse two men a room in your own B and B?

Sounds about right price wise, I had one done on a Honda Vti and that was £485 from memory, it's the labour that makes it costly, something like 8 hours as the clutch is attached to the gearbox which then means they also have to change the gearbox fluid which is only available from Honda dealers.

No need for either, just buy the right tool and they won't come undone.

Lycra on an MTB is ok with me, pretty mcuh given up with baggies as i'm so stick like I could find any that didn't hook over my knees when riding.

Baggies on a road bike looks wrong though.

What about a CX bike though? Are MTB spd's/shoes and baggies acceptable then? Or only off road not on?

If the gun was hand held then ask them for a court summons, DO NOT ADMIT LIABILITY, unless it was mounted to a tripod or car then it is usually inadmissable evidence in court. They also need to be calibrated at regular intervals, which apparently they are often not. Information from a current serving officer friend.

I refurbed an 80's Raleigh once and ended up rebuilding it with a respaced and redished 130mm Shimano 7 speed cassette hub, having said that 7 speed cassettes are thin on the ground now in road ratio choices.

    Here's one on ebay

edit: be very wary when removing the old cassette, they get brittle with age and are usually tight as hell which usually requires some hammering sadly

extra edit: shimano stoppeed biopace because it was shit, nothing more or less :D

You may also need to contact your LA as a home used for business may also be subject to business rates. My mum fell foul of this as the neighbours told the LA, she was genuinely unaware of this. It usually applies to home businesses who have customers calling.

Yeah pretty much, decent fathers would happily (as I do) pay for the upkeep of theri children, apparently it's something like 68p per every pound is lost in administration costs. Another Labour jobs scam!

If you soon to be ex partner doesn't work then the CSA automatically get involved, sadly you have no choice in that. When your ex partner tries to claim income support she WILL be asked your details. This is pretty much what happened to me, they mugged me even though I came to an agreement with my ex.

The system is set to make fathers and not tax payers pay for single parents, also it is only based on your salary, they cannot include bonus, dividend or irregular payments. Hence I now get minimum wage with alot of bonuses and dividends :-)

OK, you guys are getting cassettes mixed up with freewheels. 6 speed shimano cassettes have a top sprocket that threads on and holds the rest of the cassette on, think the hubs were 600ex. However shimano also made a few years later a budget groupset with 6 speed freehub with a lockring like used on modern cassettes.
There are some cassettes on fleabay but only from the states with silly money.
SJS sold out some years ago now, bear in mind these were discontinued as spares about 15 years ago!
Have you tried a new chain on it yet? You may find it will be ok.

Just stick the whole car on ebay, I got £385 for a mega mileage 406 petrol that had snapped cambelt and mullered engine.

You'll get more than that for a VW.

As it happens some road Shimano chains are designed to only rotate in one direction.

I doubt rotating the chainring 90 degrees would make any difference.

There is some good deals going on L&M lights at the mo, looking about £250 for a Seca 700, which easily outshines my mates hope 4. Seca 900 should be about £320 if you look around.
