Just got back from a ride myself, felt like mid summer to me, easy 20 degrees here in Wilts.

Spent nearly 6 hours in the saddle, best days riding for months.

If I wasn’t at work right now, I’d definitely be making a B-movie style “ATTACK OF THE STEALTH SKIPS!” poster.

I for one want to see that. Please make in happen :-)

    Really?

Would you like some picture evidence to make you change your mind?

I don't think he is right. Only time will tell if the frame is or isn't affected. So could be good for another 10 years, or fold in half in 2 weeks.

Ultimately you paid and trusted the airline to transport you bike safely and they failed to do so. It's a service you have paid for.

If you paid a courier to deliver it on your behalf you would expect them to pay up for the damage yes?

I would charge accordingly like airlines do.

So £5 for opening a letter from them.

    £10 for sending a letter.

Then £40 if they don't respond within 7 days.
    :-)

I would claim for a replacement frame and labour, all well and good saying it won't cause any problems in the future, but can you be sure of that?

Sorry if this post is of no help.

I was about to ask where is it? I could do with a bigger desk for the PC.

Oh and do I spy SPD shoes and shinpads?

The new SRAM options might be cheaper, but not much.

    X0 £424.99
    X9 £249.99
    X7 £176.99

I'd go SLX double and change the rings at some point.

I would probably say Mondeo too, although the Civic above would be good, make sure it's a VTi, I had one for 3 years and thrashed the life out of it, other than service items nothing other than the clutch failed. Faster than it looks too :-)

My old housemate who came out of the bathroom with only HALF a haircut.

His clippers had stopped working halfway through cutting his hair, I cried with laughter for ages, he was so poor he could only afford half a haircut!

I, like a good mate made him drive himself to the hairdressers to get his haircut finished off.

Getting a Ti frame (not sure which one yet) and rebuild my Duster HT, just about to order a GT Distortion for play time in the woods, a first for me, always been a hardtail XC jeyboy.

Oh and maybe a Bianchi Infinito if cash allows.

And maybe a Charge Filter :-)

Yes and it's (as usual) factually incorrect.

Parking your car isn't a right, it's a cost you take on when you buy a car. Why should the LA subsidise the cost for you to park for free?

Also councils are becoming more like a business more than ever, do you think that businesses who own land would happily let anybody park for free when they could charge or even sell off it's land. I see no reason why non car owners should subsidise parking for car owners.
The previous government instructed councils to make money form assets or sell them on.

Not so many decades ago before supermarkets were the retail kings most high streets were made up of independent retailers who often also lived in the shop premises. Customers want good value for money and convenience to suit a modern lifestyle, not to spend most of the day trudging from shop to shop with lots of bags in their hands. The real issue now is the cost of leasing a high street unit. Whilst commercial property prices have risen alot of the decades, so the cost of the lease increases to reflect that. Margins for smaller retailers have also been squeezed to compound this problem.

Worth remembering that only a century ago alot of shops were houses back then, in fact in our own small town they have finally woken up to this and are allowing empty shops to become residential property again. After all if there are that many shops empty there isn't a demand.

Cheapo V brakes usually have really soft metal in the brakes. The part where the noodle locates usually splays open. Recently discovered it happens more on kids bikes, if the forks spin around the V brake often catches the down tube or the cable gets stretched tight and pulls out.

My pear tree is overloaded this year too.

Anyhow it's got 148 bhp apparently, either way I'm not getting a diesel, don't do enough miles for it. Octavia VRS is the choice, just have to find one now.

I've leave this thread to die a slow death.

    P.S. AWESOME

Speaking of mpg, so far only 33 average, not good, although it is a hire car

Think I've just found the issue with this particular car, it may have a 1.5 108bhp engine, I'm surprised it moves at all. Either that or a 148bhp 2 litre.

Forgot to mention the electronic handbrake, whilst great on inclines needs quite a few revs and slow with the clutch on steeper hill starts, can't do the clutch much good!

Glad it's not just me then, had a Type R previously so thought it might just need getting used to. Petrol all the way for the next car.

I have no problem with people who aren't clued up on bikes, it's the ones who want something for, or next to nothing, be they supermarket or bling bikes. I have to pay wages and myself, personally I don't like working for free.
I set my labour charges which I hope are reasonable and fair. Labour charges in bike shops are still some of the cheapest around in the service industry.

If bikes are really poor quality, or boxed new from internet or Argos etc I refer them back to where they purchased it. If I fix/assemble their bike has problems you can guarantee they will be moaning at me. We have been trading for over a century now and I see no reason to tarnish our image with substandard products.

Definately shop around! I just got a renewal for £565 (was £340 last year), their online price with the same details were £320!) So I cancelled and tried to buy it online, I then was instructed to phone them, which I did, the upshot is I went elsewhere as they wouldn't honour the quote.
In short I saved over £200 for looking around. Sod loyalty, you don't owe them.

    What he said.

What I would say is though Easton bars have reinforced clamping zones, those shifters and brake lever look mighty inboard, close to the bend in fact. You must have some seriously long thumbs.

I went for a kryptonite new york chain, can lock up to 2/3 bikes with it as 150cm long. Not very pratical to carry around though, weighs 8 kilos!

Yep, haven't been out in rain like that for years, or wind for that matter.

So wet that the bike was surprisingly clean when I got home, however first thing tomorrow the so called waterproof jacket I bought is going back. Soggy wet back for half of the ride :-(

Depnds on which parts you are after, shifters in late Sept, some chainsets in Oct, others in Nov. Which bits do you need?

Make sure you get liability insurance, one repair gone wrong could cost you dearly. Might be worth a visit to CTC to see if joining them might get you a good price on isurance. Otherwise go for it, you only regret the things you haven't done in life, not the things you have done.

We are starting up a mobile service soon, but on a pick up and bring back basis only for the time being. The issue would be if you did it on a bike would be carrying enough spares.

Also suppliers could be an issue if you're not in the trade already.

You'll need either a shim spacer or a BMX stem as BMX bars are 22.2mm dia.

However don't be too surprised if you get mocked for doing it :D

As above the freehub body will be different from Shimano, other wise yes it would have worked with a bit of respacing and a redish.

Edit, it's probably a Quando hub so you could in theory get another 8 spd freehub body but they are difficult to get hold of and lots of different fitting patterns.

LOL at someone who thinks he can decide how a bike will ride and guess the geometry.

Ooh yeah forgot about that BD, Charge is going anodise mad next year, no more crap paint.

Oh and did someone mention IRC Mythos tyres? Good job I kept my tyre pile :-)

Looks better in the flesh, amberwall tyres should be everywhere next year.

As long as it ends the trend for white parts I'm happy.

I couldn't comment on how nice the bike is, I've only had a car park test so far.
