Afraid not – but thank you for the suggestion :-)
All I have near there is a serial number but that doesn’t give a clue as to the year.

To make matters slightly worse… my only concern was the lower leg oil volume because the upper leg volume matched for both years.
Just after the index in both the 2009 & 2010 service manuals it lists upper leg volumes as 123ml for both years.

However, on page 31 of the 2009 manual it lists it as 110ml for the Reba!
I’m really hoping that is a typo because I’ve just finished the damper side

Mrs is due on the 18th Dec so I imagine well just get baby stuff from everyone else. Weve decided we arent getting each other anything due to the massive baby spend so far.

I wont be asking for anything just a healthy baby and the wifes speedy recovery.

That’ll be the best darn Xmas pressie ever!
All the best for the big day!

    Thanks for the responses!

I think £100+ Oakley’s are OTT for me. I want something I can chuck in my pack (in the case) but not worry too much about them getting scuffed (so scratch resistant lenses would be good if nothing else).

The Bloc Stealth glasses look good… and a decent price too.

Just read all these comments… Now feel the need to wrap myself in bubble wrap and not leave the house! (typical Sat night for some)

I haven’t been able to find any pressure guidance for the rear shock. Instead the Fox site just recommend setting sag and going from there – which means I don’t really know what the max pressure is.
I’m fairly heavy at 210 lbs which actually works out to about 210 psi to get 20% sag.
Is it possible I’ve blown something which has killed the descend mode?

It’s not the fork by the way… It’s the shock.
Still a common issue no doubt?

    Resurrecting an old thread here…

I wasn’t expecting a lock out like previous forks but was expecting it not to use 50-60% of the travel when I got out of the saddle.

So say 20mm of travel and that’s it.

There is pretty much no difference between Trail / Climb modes on my 2013 Performance shock. Loads of pedal bob… so there is definitely something wrong.

Not sure whether to take it back… probably should but it means I’ll be without my bike for a couple of weeks no doubt.

The job was just simply trueing a wheel. When I got I back the first time it sat totally skew in my forks. Turned out they hadn’t dished it. When I rang up to ask them about it they said it would be better if I took my bike in with the wheel (because I’d only taken the wheel in prior thinking it would save space in their shop).I would’ve thought their trueing stand would dish.

As for naming and shaming them… I suppose I’m reluctant to for a few of reasons… they’re decent guys (just not good at customer service), small local shop (and we’ve had enough of them close down in this town recently so don’t want to damage business even if it is a bit bad) and also they’re friends of friends… so it could be awkward if I bump into them in future :-\
Plus I’m just a pansy when it comes to complaining! ;)

I know what you mean about doing work yourself. In the last few weeks I’ve learnt to bleed brakes and I’m now having a go at servicing my forks because I blew the seals. Jobs that I would’ve considered taking to them if they are reliable. Anyway, I’m enjoying the tinkering :-)

Thanks for the comments. I’ll be trying somewhere else next time I have a job I can’t do at home.

@Shermer – Why not the Evans?
I’ve had fantastic online service from them in the past. Never used them for repairs though.

Twanging spokes happens on a rebuilt wheel it can be avoided by taking he wheel out of the jig and leaning quite heavily on each side and then tensioning again

It doesn’t surprise me they didn’t bother to do that.

Run for the Hills in Dorking?

Nope… a place in Hertfordshire. What make you think it was Head for the Hills?

I took it back to the LBS and they’ve fixed the dishing.

I noticed there was a lot of spoke twanging when I rode it for the first 30 seconds or so (twisted spokes) but it went away.
    Is that ok?

    Just re-thought about this.

Seriously fella, get a second opinion on the rim if it has a noticeable kink at the seam. I think most responsible wheel builders would tell you to write the rim off. A collapsing front wheel is not a fun prospect because when it does go, it will cease to fit through the fork, abruptly! You yourself will continue for a distance, until stopped by tree, rock, friction etc!

Hope it isn’t knackered, but there’s a fair chance it is.

    Thanks!
They said that it isn’t too bad that I need to write it off… just that they can’t get it back to perfect. I can see the kink but I don’t have anything to compare it with so don’t know what is considered too bad.

I’ll definitely take your advice though and get a 2nd opinion… I don’t want to become one with any other object on the trail!

I know what you mean about the Trance.
I’m fairly new to MTB’ing and due to an insurance payout splurged on a Trance 29er. Great all round bike… but doesn’t excite me very much. I don’t think there’s anything worth upgrading on it that will make me change my mind either :(
I’m going to abuse it for another year or so anyway :)

By the way… our first impression of the pub was that it’s a bit “local”. It’s actually an old railway station… seemed a bit rough but it was ok actually.
We went their for food after our 1st day riding and my gawd the food kept coming! Huge portions! :-P

This gave me some inspiration to take my little girl into town for some daddy / daughter time… But I’ve been reminded that we have to go to yet another 3yr old birthday party.
Is anyone else getting tired of birthday parties? My wife thinks I’m a “miserable git”!

I think Stoner’s suggestions are good!

I remember the same buzz when I started night rides earlier this year… still love it now!
Although like Bandito above – night time is the only time I get chance to get out really so it’s a good thing I enjoy it!

Let’s see if I can MTFU and keep at it when it gets cold…

Good to know that other ebay mounts are ok.
Didn’t want to end up with rattling or whatever on the camera’s first outing next week.
    Thanks!

Well the ones I’ve ended up with are TLR Team Issues.
I’ll weight them tonight and report back.

    Thanks!

I’m starting to think that’s probably the best way to go as well.
It’s certainly less hassle and means I’ll be able to get out and ride (on something rather nice) by next weekend! :)

This bike won’t be going in the shed… Not until I have a more solid one anyway.

    Thanks guys.
I know… it all seems a bit weird to me too and this is the first time I’ve been in this situation. I want to do the right thing that gets me as good a deal as possible and potentially someone else as well.

To be honest, I interpreted the policy small print as a lot worse. I was actually semi-pleased when they said that the policy states a maximum of £1000 p/bike. I actually thought it was going to be less.
Then, they said they could do a “deal” if I chose to replace the bikes instead. I guess it must have something to do with the discount that this dealer gives the insurance company or something… actually working in the customer’s favour!
I don’t want to question it too much in case I end up worse off.
This isn’t exactly a bad situation to be in (apart from the fact that some little scr*tes have come onto my property and helped themselves to stuff I work hard for and also made me question the area we live in even more :(

What mainstream bike/model between £2500 > £2800 would you say is the most popular? Ideally from Giant or Specialized?

I was thinking more along the lines of knocking about £300 off.
I wouldn’t register the bike… So warranty should still be okay shouldn’t it?

I know exactly what you’re going through mate!
had a a few jobs in the past and fairly happy at all of them.
I now work for a very successful global company that preaches one thing but goes about things a totally different way! Management are so tied up with pleasing the layers above them that they’ve lost touch with reality.
    You’re not alone ;)
