    Alex,
    She’s a beauty!!!!!!
Mine should be arriving in the next few days!

Should we start a new thread on here called “Show us your Birds!” ?

Great photos by the way! I’m also interested to know what camera / lens and processing you did??

Thanks for the good advice all!!

    I think it’ll be a trailer then :)

ourmaninthenorth, that trailer looks good but ideally we’d like to spend a bit less than that. The Halfords one looks like it’ll do what we need.

    Thanks again!

Didn’t realise how many girls we have here on STW! ;)

For me it’s simply silence. Would’ve been something else before having kids though I’m sure ;)

Their license plates say it all.

The insurance report will be a good read.

I suffer from the same addiction!I OD’d at Bike Park Wales last year and ended up in A&E. Several months of cold turkey rehab but all I could think about was my next hit.
I’m not ashamed to admit… I’m using again

    I’ve now tried Paint.net & Pixlr.

Preferring Pixlr because it has a straighten tool but mostly because it has a tablet mode which makes accessing the adjustments tools a little bit slicker.

Thanks again for the suggestions :)

Thanks for the advice & info!
I’ve gone for the solos in the end based on the fact that I can add tokens if needed. Also, don’t want the bike to feel sluggish. Cheers!

I bought my daughter a Strider balance bike to get started. She just wouldn’t use it. however she wouldn’t put down her cousin’s Islabike Rothan. So, bought her a 2nd hand Rothan and she hasn’t looked back. We put it down to the Rothan being slightly lighter and better geometry. She’s now on the CNOC.
Also, the brakes on the Islabikes are easier to pull for little hands compared to other manufacturers.

We know we’ll sell the Rothan for about £20 less than we paid for it once my son is done with it – so well worth it.

Wobbliscott mentioned above that he’s read that the solos perform better than the DPAs. Anyone else heard that?

had a 2nd test ride round Swinley on Thursday (Ran out of time on the 1st one a few weeks ago).
    Loved it!
    Ordered it!

    Geometry is spot on.
I don’t ride hard enough to notice any flex. I’d say it’s the best bike I’ve ever ridden.

Top chaps running it as well so customer service is good too!

Are you all in proportion? 8O
I’m talking torso vs. inseam? ;)

I ask because a large should be good for you – but it looks like you have the seat very high. (could be camera angle though)

What is your exact inside leg measurement?

Honestly I have never been happier in my entire life than in the last 3 years since we had our little girl, I love her so much it hurts. She’s so awesome, I love to just watch her just to see what she’ll do next. Watching her sleep is bliss, then kiss her little head, sometimes she wakes ‘don’t kiss me Daddy.’
At the moment sometimes she is a little devil.
‘NO I DON’T WANT TO GET DRESSED’
    ‘NO I DON’T WANT A WEE WEE’
    ‘DON’T BRUSH MY HAIR’
‘I DON’T WANT TO GO TO NURSERY’
and then if you grab her to dress her she screams and struggles, lots of fun when you’ve got work at 8am knowing that any traffic problems will make you late. Being a parent really does teach you patience.
Right now as well she’s all Mummy, so for example I’ll ask her to come for a weewee before tea or go to brush her teeth and it’ll be ‘I want mummy to do it’ or ‘Not you Daddy, go away Daddy’ lol

Exactly what he said… word for word! :)

People who say that can’t do things when they’ve never tried (basic DIY, oil change, bike maintenance, etc)

People who say they don’t like a certain food when they’ve never tried it.

What the hell goes through people’s heads when they park across 2 spaces.

People that don’t wash their hands after using the loo… then going back to their table to finish their meal. grim.

People in general really… and cats. Like a previous poster on here… I don’t get cats.

(this is just a bit of a rant really… not sure if it’s what the OP had in mind but I feel better ;)

People who queue/rush to board a plane when they have a pre-assigned seat, are going to be stuck in the plane for hours, and are going to get to the destination at the same time.

    ????

    I know what you mean…
I’ve flown with people that when I say I don’t want to rush for the seat you can see them get all edgy and can’t relax… to the point where any conversation dies and I just concede and we all rush pointlessly to the back of the massive boarding queue. Odd.

I went to the GP for help because I was feeling particularly stressed just after our 2nd child was born. We don’t get any help from family (live too far away) and I also have a pretty nasty stomach condition.

My GP told me to either :

    a) get more exercise (part of the problem with having a 2nd child is lack of time to do anything on my own which was part of the reason I was feeling anxious / stressed / angry)
    b) She recommended therapy / counselling – but could only get me to start 2 weeks from when I saw her. Then it would take a few weeks to see any benefit from that.

Thanks for the help doc… useless **^^*^&*^E$%.

So, I got myself some torches and started doing night rides. Not quite enough exercise to make a difference… but it has helped a little.

    I’ve also got an X1.
I’m 6’1 and got the large frame. My mate who is 5’12 got the medium X2 and I have to say the difference is massive. His feels so much lighter and agile. So all I’d say is if you are on the cusp of the sizing then give some serious thought to getting the smaller frame.
    Apart from that… great bike!
Giant swapped the brakes for me when I bought it – Elixir 5s for Shimano SLX brakes. Not sure if there is much of a difference but if you believe all the reviews then apparently there is.

Used my rear Mucky Nutz mudguard for the first time last night… and I agree – they are not good at all. Doesn’t stay straight and isn’t quite wide enough.

I think the ones up front are good though.

I bought the Bender Fender, Gut Fender & Rear fender all at once.
I wonder if I can get my money back for the rear.

    Think it’s worth trying?

Piece of cake in the end using a tyre pump (decent volume one) and a tip for blowing up air beds and the like.

I’ve just topped up the oil with an extra 10 – 15ml… and it feels loads better.
With lockout engaged I can now only compress it by about 10-20mm.

We’ll see how it goes on tonight’s ride I guess.

Thanks for the help all :)

I’ve just let all air out. When I compress the forks they go ALL the way down (dust seals touch the crown / no stanchion showing). Is that to be expected?
If I lock them out they go about 60%.

If that’s normal – then my next step will be to add an extra 10ml or so of 5w tomorrow and see if that make any difference.

Am I ok to just pull out the damper assembly and top it up from there?

    zeesaffa

    It was definitely a 20mm spacer :)
And I’m sure I put it all back in the right order… I triple-checked that when I did it.

Oh hang on… I don’t need to strip them down to top up the damper oil do I… You can tell I’m new at this ;)

    Thanks guys!

I definitely put 123ml 5wt oil into the damper side. Defintely definitely definitely!!… I think…

I’ll strip them down again and re-assemble… what a PITA! Another weekend with no riding :(
