My suggestion: Cold Fact by Rodriguez. Incredible album and an artist wth an interesting story that few people have heard of.

Just had a Dean Forge W5 installed – it is great! It is shallower and wider than most. Nice big viewing window.

We are in the process of hving our first ever log burner fitted (along with a whole new chimney breast)!

Also didnt know what to go for – except that we knew we wanted something with a wide-ish viewing window amd it needed to be 5kw because of room size.

After a hell of a lot of browsing I found the Chili Penguin Woody – slim and wide design and looks good. Highly regarded but fairly steep at £1300.

Then someone pointed out the Dean Forge brand. Ended up going for the Dartmoor W5 which actually has the same dimensions as the Woody! Im sure in some respects it might not be as good as the Woody but it’s still supposed to he a very good stove and it’s nearly £500 cheaper!! :-)

Can’t wait to fire it uo next week!!

(Not sure if any of that helps OP)

Yep, I’m 36 and noticed the same with one of my front upper teeth!
Dentists said not much I can do except brush that tooth / gum in a downward motion and make sure I use a soft brush.
Thing is I like the hard bristle because they feel more effective.
    Anyway…

Thank you all for the advice. That website look very good so I’ll definitely be spending some time on there.

Some unusual pieces of advice as well… always good to have last resorts!

I’ve been reading up a bit more on oil vs lacquered – and oil is definitely the way forward.
Scratches don’t show up as much because the oil penetrates the surface – and when they do show up then (as you suggested above) – a light sand and wipe of that board with oil sorts it out.
Lacquered is a bit more hard-wearing but when it does scratch or wear out over time – the floor starts to look bad.
Also, oil has a nicer more natural look to it.

That’s how I now understand it.

Good thing you guys pointed that out and I didn’t just have the advice from the wood flooring “specialist”.

    Thanks all!

I had been advised to go lacquered for the protection but now that you’ve suggested that about oiled I’ll have to rethink that :)

    Thanks again!

    Thanks all – great suggestions!!

Our budget is up to £1000 but if we can pick up a used bargain so that we can spend more elsewhere on our living room refurb then all the better :)

I’m reading this thread with interest…

Ive recently broken my ankle quite badly and had some metalwork. Surgery was 2 weeks ago.
Have been told it will be minimum of 6 weeks but pribably 8 before partial weight bearing.

Maybe the derallieur has taken a knock and the mech hanger is slightly bent.
Same symptoms as mine had a while ago. Could just about make out that the mech was skew. LBS got their hanger straightener tool (Park tools) on it and it is fine now (5min job).

Thanks for all the good advice!

There are so many different choices it’s hard to know what gives the best value for money.

Spent about 3 hours in total on phone today to different brokers and still not quite there. To be continued tomorrow…

They are using an apprently well regarded international accounting firm – http://www.hlbi.com
Even so… it still seems insane.

They will be the first ti admit they were naive in their decision to go out there. They went for a holiday andcame back to tell us they hd bought a house off plan!

That sounds terrible mate – not sure what to say other than you have our sympathies. Stay strong and try be positive because whatever happens you need to remain hopeful and make the most of the present.

Having had friends that have been through similar and also just difficult challenges myself – I would say that you should never be shy to lean on your support network. Don’t try to bottle things up and handle it all yourselves. And look after yourself as well!!!

    Ahwiles,

We did exactly what you suggested (both extrapueces if red fox) and it was great!

The wife loved it! The whole day was much better than she expected it to be – good result I’d say!

Went to Cross Foxes for a quick bite on way back and that was very good as well.

    Thanks again!

Thanks for all the good advice everyone!
We have had to postpone the stay over (kids / babysitting) – but will take note for next time.

Still going to do Minotaur trail tomorrow though and try sneak in some of those detours siggested by Ahwiles above :)

Thanks Klunk. We are only going for a Sunday night – and that placer is closed on Sundays.

I should mention we’re heading across from Shrewsbury – so could stay anywhere in-between but willing to travel a bit more for a good hotel / food.

Anyone know what the chances are of getting a place for Saturday’s race?

Another great way to find a rythm is to ride with a group – ideally with riders a bit better than you who will push / encourage you along. That has helped me over the last year anyway.

Enjoy the new bike! Riding with the kids is ace! My 3yr old is fearless!

I also love my Aeris and will have it for years to come BUT if i were on the hunt Id also consider a shorter travel such as a t-130 or a Scout.
£3.5k will get you something pretty darn nice :)

Ive got the Debonair on my Bird and its fantastic. I ride fairly technical natural stuff around Shropshire and Ive never really felt like anything is missing. I dont do big drops or jumps though.
That said, i cant compare to anything so maybe it would be plusher with the Plus. I dont know. I guess that makes my post kinda pointless;-)

Had a Giant bought from a Giant store. Bike was okay but shop experience was shocking. Turned me off the brand.

In total contrast – my experience with Bird has been fantastic. Great “ride quality, build quality, warranty amd company ethos”!

Very moving human stories… The sense of responsibility and associated guilt some of these people felt and still feel is especially affecting.

Well said. Makes you realise just how “comfortable” we all actually are and how we just take it for granted.

Thanks for the recommendation to the OP. I’d never heard of Storyville until now.
