I would find and diagnose the cause before any treatment no matter who you see.
I study physiology and Biochem so it helps when I’m injured but the Gp can confirm or show other causes.
I had cramp in my right calf when riding, dull ache in hip and right leg-for 8 weeks of annoying pain/dull ache turned out I had sciatica from tight joints and muscles on my right hip pressing on the nerve.
I sit alot at work too-it doesn’t help.
My doctor is very good but wanted to try anti inflammation drugs.
I had an x ray that showed the joints and discs were fine so I decided to stretch more with the aid of the Bath rugby clubs chriopractor who confirmed my diagosis.
We spent 3 months stretching and freeing the hip area and it worked-I can eat hills for breakfast now.
I still stretch every on/off day.
Don’t let it get you down, don’t look for a magic cure but use logic to aid you Gp.
Groin strains can be pain free if not torn after a few days.
See another Gp-it doesn’t hurt to get a second a opinion and get them to examine your legs and back even an xray. Demand it.
Once you’re proved you’re not in danger-see a physio/chiro -make sure they are registered and not some wacko. See their credentials.
Be patient.
How old are you? are in shape? is the pain worse when the leg is lifted straight up when lying down?-this is what your Gp should check.
Go book an appt with another Gp and be confident so you can get good care.
Show them notes and research and that you are serious.
Sleep on your stomach if you can till then.
