I recall reading that around town, up to 45-50 mph it was better to turn the air-con off and open the windows.

Above that speed it was more economic to shut the windows and used the air-con.

For the sake of a few really hot days, i think that i’d live without it. It’s nice, but how often do you really need it.

Man up and drive naked. You know you want to.

The Hornet’s a good suggestion. I loved mine and sometimes regret selling it. I think the Triumph Speed Four is a better package, if you can live with its quirky looks.

I keep looking at a Hornet or Speed Four for a track bike. I think I need a more upright stance as old age makes its presence felt.

Wow Calamity Cal gets on the podium in a lottery race and then has a pop at other riders not having big enough balls stay classy Cal you clown.

He does make it hard to warm to him. I don’t think he does himself any favours when he comes across as petulant as he seems.

As Mr Clarkson said, time to man up.

Don’t move out, if she wants to end the marriage, then she can face the consequences of her actions. Why should you fund her new lifestyle.

For all the bleeding heart advice here, you’ll be the one who’s shafted left, right and centre.

If she wants to leave, let her, just don’t make it easy. Why should you. She’s dropped the bombshell, she can clean up the mess.

A friend had the same experience years ago, she came back later as the grass isn’t always greener. They had two homes, one in France and one here. She got the house in France and he kept the family home.

When she came back, she sold the French place and “bought back” into the family home. He wasn’t going to go through the same thing a second time.

Deccisions you make now will have long term effects on your future. Take care.

I haven’t been since the fire, but half a day should be enough, unless you’re really interested in a particular marque or machine and want to spend hours looking at it.

They were crammed in before, not sure if they’ve spread about a bit in the new buildings.

    Good place to visit though.

Why do the Remainians feel that they have the right to countermand the referendum?

Petulant **** ****. The bastard me, me, me generation. My view is the most important.

If they’d won it my a very small margin I expect that they’d be happy to consider it legitimate and not worry about the feelings of those who voted leave. ****.

Suck it up losers. You lost.

**** the young. They’ve time to save for their pensions, but they’ll do sod all and sue someone in 50 years time when they can’t afford to retire.

Why do these feckless wastrels feel they’re owed everything.

The old have paid their dues, time to pay them what’s owed

They’re big old things to manhandle and it’d be easy to do a lot of unintended damage with one.

We hired a tree guy to remove a stump from our garden. His grinder went through it like a dose of salts.

Not something I’d like to do myself.

Many, many years ago I used to leave my Austin 1100 unlocked and with the key in the ignition in the hope it would get nicked.

Never was, it seems that even scrotes have standards.

Save your money, tell her you though it was in a couple of years time and that she can’t possibly be 40.

Any other time they lie about their age anyway, so now it’s your time to do the same.

I can’t wait for Ramadan to be over. Every time I put something in my mouth (steady, there) I think of gonzy and feel guilty.

Doesn’t stop me eating it, though, but I do feel slightly bad for doing so :D

    How many days left?

My local jewelers replace the battery in my Tissot watches (that I bought from them) but will not guarantee the waterproofness (if that’s a real word).

To have it waterproof it needs to be sent to Tissot.

As I don’t get them wet, and if I did, a soggy watch would be the least of my worries, I’m not bothered about the guarantee.

Tell him you’ve got the incident recorded on your dash cam, and you’ll go through the insurance company if he doesn’t honour his commitment to pay.

If he calls your bluff, you’ve lost nothing. I wouldn’t tell your insurance company as it is likely to affect your premium, claim or not.

Here’s an idea NW if you don’t like what’s being discussed, don’t read the thread. Who appointed you as the STW moral compass?

It’d be considerably harder to shoot over a hundred with a revolver though. The death count would be 7 at most, I’d wager.

Let’s hope that they don’t think to take more than one revolver.

I often ride at the speed of traffic I’m in if I’ve been giving it some stick a little earlier on in the ride.

You can’t ride like a loon everywhere and expect to get away with it all of the time.

I’ll stick my head on the block and say no.

Rutter asked his crew to turn down the power on his bike. It truly is amazing how they ride that fast on the road, but they must be reaching the limit of what can be done.

The real problem not this individual, there are thousands like him and the only way to stop this type of thing happening is to regulate vehicles down to levels all people can be trusted with.

What utter crap. I’ve read some shite on here, but this takes the biscuit. It’s his fault, no one else’s.

Then you have crashes like the Sioux City DC10 that almost, against all odds, resulted in no fatalities. Still a good number of people survived against the odds but a last second gouging of a wing into the airfield caused it to barrel roll.

I recall watching a documentary about that incident. An off duty pilot in the cabin noticed they had a problem and went onto the flight deck to help out.

IIRC they put the conditions into a simulator and no-one was capable of flying the plane.

Just very unlucky right at the end, or lucky depending on your point of view.

I don’t find modern road bikes that appealing either. With their steeply raked top tube (it’s a crossbar!) and lots of seat tube they just look like you’ve bought too small a bike.

Horizontal crossbars, you know they look right.

I’ve had my fingers burnt in such a purchase, only £45 but it still annoys me. No way would I send £1,000 without any recourse.

Jump in the car and pay cash. Much safer.

Or get him to send it C.O.D.

Last time we were in the championship it was great. Cheaper tickets, different and more interesting venues to visit at away games, visiting fans who mostly were here to have a good time rather than thinking they were better, a less money-driven commercial atmosphere and a more grassroots culture, and fewer prima donnas on the pitch. I knew a lot of fans who were disappointed to go back up.

Nicely argued, but I’m sure you’d have preferred to stay up.

Yesterday lunchtime, Princes Street Gardens, walking away from bridge over rail tracks. Man walking towards railway bridge on mobile phone ‘I’ve been depressed and suicidal since I was eleven…’

Reminds me of a quote form a guy who used to work with us. He had less confidence than anyone I’ve ever met.

He’d screw up everything he did. We got some professional help for him, but ended up letting him go.

During the sessions with the professionals they asked him what would he like to forget about his life. “Everything from the age of 10” was his reply……
