Another Scot here, I live in the borders having moved from Midlothian. There are some grim towns arounds there, Gorebridge, Easthouses etc. Don’t fancy having to live there again.

The 2 gates on the Gypsy Glen descent. The first isn’t too bad as you can head up again from there but the 2nd just kills your speed.

Ordered 2nd Jan, barely any comms since then. All emails, fb messages etc have been ignored. My order was only for £40 but I would have expected better service than this.

Nice work big yim. I had a 3/4 sleeve finished recently which involved a couple of 7hr sessions, most of it was dot work so not too bad but kudos for sitting for 6hrs for your first time.

As for care, I left mine wrapped for a couple of hours, washed it, patted dry and applied cocoa butter twice a day until the scabs had fallen off. This is what the tattooist recommended and it’s worked out perfectly, plus it smells amazing. Good luck with your next session.

I’ll be in the pub Sunday evening but the rest of the weekend will be spent marshalling. I’ll be at the start of Stage 5 so if any of you are racing, make sure you have the right kit and are ontime or I will have to wield my power :D

My Rocky Mountain Instinct falls into that category as well. I think i-cycles in Innerleithen have one you could demo.

What did you think of Gypsy Glen? I’m a local and it’s my favourite ride. Amazing descent.

Go on a skills course, having the right techniques on the descents will help you catch you mate better than strength and fitness, although they will help you ride for longer.

Spooky, the setup would fit in a SWB van but when the RnR bed is down, it would be tight up against the front seats. We measured ours so that we can still open the fridge when the bed is down (for beer and wine :D ), if that wasn’t such a big deal then it should fit. I have to say that Vanguard Conversions made the whole process amazingly easy and quick.

nick, I have to take both wheels off and turn the bars so they’re parallel with the rear of the van. It was the compromise that I had to make to have a T5. The rear garage is 700mm deep but there is more space than that with the shape of the doors. My mate has a similar garage on a hight roof transit and he can get his bike in without taking either wheel off.

This photo shows 2 bike in the rear. You can see that there’s still a bit of space.

Cheers Spooky, It was 18mm ply for the rear garage, it’s covered in the same Altro flooring that’s in the main part of the van. As for the cupboards and worktop/table they ordered it in like that but I’m sure it’s also ply covered in foil but I can’t remember what the colour is called.

I have a LWB T5 converted by Vanguard last summer. I can fit 3 bikes in the rear garage area and sleep 2 in the main cabin. I’ve been away in it loads and it works brilliantly.

Gypsy Glen into Peebles get my vote, especially over the last couple of nights riding into the sunset. 2hrs door to door riding from the house with a group of like minded folks. I could do that every night over the summer.

I moved to Innerleithen in 2004 and then to Peebles in 2008. I love it here and wouldn’t live anywhere else now. It is easy to settle in as long as you are prepared to put yourself out there and get involved in whatever interests you. The MTB community is huge but that is far from the only thing to do round here.

We’ve done it in a big group a couple of times. We were up there for the weekend and stayed at the Glencoe Mountain resort campsite. From there it’s about 30mins to the bottom of the DS. The ride took us approx 7hrs but that was in a big group with lots of waiting (mainly for me!) and chatting (mainly by me!).

I would recommend riding along the pipes up to the dam, it’s much flatter than the road and there a few squeaky bum moments as the ground below you drops away.

All in all it’s a fantastic day out

I’ve been taking 5mg Lisinopril for the last 5 years and not noticed any difference either way. The high blood pressure diagnosis was a bit of a shock but I was going through a divorce so not surprised I was stressed. I’m good at taking the tablets when I have them but I feel like it’s a whole big con as I didn’t feel bad when diagnosed and still feel the same now that everything is supposedly ok. I’m pretty thankful that I don’t have to pay for my prescriptions, living i Scotland, or I might question the whole thing in a bit more detail.

I’ve got an Ambit2 and I’m really happy with it. The battery will last approx 30 days if I just use it as a watch but that drops down to 24-36hrs if I have the GPS on constantly, which only happens during 24hr races. At that you can alter the GPS poll timings to extend that anyway. Can’t fault mine and I think it looks pretty good too.

+1 for Mudhugger. I’ve been using all winter and it has helped massively. Follow the instruction for fitting so you don’t damage your frame. I wrapped some old inner tube round the frame to prevent any damage.

5 year plan was on stage 2.

Stage 3 did start at the top of the old Ewok village – at the end of the straight section after the redemption climb. Anyway, you go down the trail by the wall then head into the section called DoubleX then into the Bitch which had a new exit built for EWS then along the road for 30m and left into the steepish section we call The Ponds. It’s a great wee stage.

Working on the same plan albeit with no kids. Looking to move from Glasgow down to Peebles or Innerleithen.

Go for it Bob, you won’t regret it, there’s growing number of folk moving down here for the riding. I’ve been in Peebles for over 10 years now and wouldn’t move back to Glasgow.

I’ve heard it’s just the top section, so above the forest road. Top sections of stages 1 & 2 from last years K&Q will be affected but hopefully the lower sections will remain.
