got asked by the kids to go and watch 'meet the spartans' 20 minutes and could see even the kids weren't enjoying it. Walked out managed to get a refund too. Won't get the lost time back though

My original ones are well comfy but no longer waterproof (probably because I didn't tumble dry them). I've just got a new pair of the regular ones that need breaking in and aren't quite the same cut as my originals but still good.

YEp if I was starting from fresh I'd go 819's, Stans 355 or Flow rims on hope hoops. I'm currently running rim strips in XC717's and have noticed a big reduction in punctures and an improvement with grip and I was verrrry sceptical

run dura ace BB with fsa cranks on my roadie bike, have ran XTR and XT with the girlfriends FSA's on her MTB with no problems. The new FSA bb's have additional seals, we'll see how it gets on :0)

I just used a big two handed scraper and did it dry to get th ethick off then just sponged the remains with warm water. Worth putting some gloves on to stop the spliters getting under your nails.

Had the phone line in over 2 years, think they may have changed the price plan last year which sounds like they've been sneeky and tied us into another contract (B*$Tard$)

Yep already done that twice and the 3rd one's jsut arrived with te same problem. Either the design has changed and they haven't updated the wording on the packaging or as you say they've got a dud batch

easiest I've ever bleed took 5 minutes literally.

Take reservoir cover and diaphram off, get a syringe with a small tube put over bleed nipple on the caliper, open bleed nipple suck all the old fluid out with syringe. Fill syringe with new fluid, attach to bleed nipple, force fluid back up to the lever from the caliper, close bleed nipple. Top up reservoir, roll the diaphram back over, refit resevoir cover. Job done :-)

Good call with Tread, Re-tread wasn't as good, the bit with HB's cross-training and his baja bug follwed by the single track to the music 'Crack in the Universe' makes me want to get out and ride though. That reminds me , the sun's shining, the bike's down stairs so I'm off out now !!!!

When truing it's important to get a basic even tension in the wheel, if you start with the spoke tensions all over the place you'll be fighting the wheel all the time. I check the base tension by ear plucking each spoke, you can easily tell which ones are tighter/looser than others. As well as oiling the nipples oil the eyelets, makes getting a decent tension in the wheel much easier. tension will differ from disk / non-disk and drive /non drive sides.

Can't recommend the gardening glove tip enough, once yo get teh wheels tight it takes the pain out of relieving the spokes.

Along the Wear from Hylton and up to Penshaw, a little buit around Tunstall and Rocky Hill there's not a lot of technical stuff in Sunderland unless it's changed recently.

You can go along the coast as the previous poster says.

For cracking single track get yourself along to the Shepherd and Shepherddess at Beamish on a wednesday night at 7pm and go for a ride with the oddsox. Great bunch and they have a lot of knowledge of trails round the area.

Whoever you choose ring up and make sure they are going to provide the right type of riding. We've just got back from spain having gone there on recommendations and I was sorely disappointed with the riding, everything else was ok though. I've heard really good things about AQR and Skedaddle and I think we'll be going with one of them next year.

Had to refit braided hose Mini's to my soul last weekend, the only reason there wasn't expletives was because my son was about, I ended up using circlip pliers to open up the olive and fed it over the braided hose. I was using Park cutters to cut the cable too.
