@ NickC so the curvy seatstays on cannondale roadbike and other frames are not designed to allow some vertical compliance in the rear end thus giving a more compliant ride then, Hmmmm????

druidh – I can ride on the roads :) but getting thru Newcastle there's bike lanes that should be safer than playing with the traffic.

Agreed that there has to be give and take, ideally there should be proper funding to develop and infrastructure for cyclists. It's been done elsewhere in the world very successfully but hear in godd ol' blighty the government doesn't seem to give a gnats chuff about doing it properly and just pays lip service every now and then. Cycle paths are created when the local councils have some spare paint and pull ahead's at lights are always full of buses and Taxi's. What would help is a concerted drive from the government with TV and press coverage as opposed to adverts offering loan consolidation packages, info on the so called celebs and who they've been boffing recently.

Sorry should've said it's th egtting the stem in line with the front wheel bit, I set it up so it looks straight but when I get out and ride it looks off to the left so with the bars in the straight ahead position the bike steers slightly right. Was wondering if there's any fancy jig for setting this up

I had problems with a maxxis tyre, used neat washing up liquid to soap the bead and it went up straight away.

All wrong, firstly you'll need a bigger rotor if it's designed for a 180mm disc you'll have to buy a 200mm disk and the HBSM20H adaptor only know cos had to do this the other week

ERD of the DTSWISS is 539 and the Mavic XC717 is apparantley 538.5 even though it's listed as 541. You should be fine with the same spokes

It's perfectly ok to reuse the spokes, if the rims are the same ERD you'll be fine

Just seen this and thought it best to post my experiences with the seller, longest I had to wait between comms was 24 hours, openly told me he couldn't post over the weekend, arrived on my desk Tuesday morning, so no concerns frmo me and I'd buy from him again, can't say fairer than that really.

Yep agree, even if you use a pipe cutter you're gonna have to file the edges. You could tape a plastic sheet above the top race to cover the front wheel etc.

If using a saw definately take off the bike

Cheers for the info, I've got a park tension meter, got opne sheap and out of interest checked all the wheels I'd built and was pleasantly suprised to find they all had the same spoke tension and the wheels were all within 5%.Guess I was lucky that the guy that taught me to build wheels was a stickler for balanced spoke tensions and it seems to have stuck. I always oil the the spoke threads and holes when building too :)

Grease added before install, drifted in square, just wondering if the faces on my Hope drifts have a high spot in the middle, Think I'll ask my mate to check them on lathe and perhaps remove a bit of material to ensure they're only contacting the outer race

Yep live in the North East and it's definately changed in the last few months, live not far from a hospital and the Ambulance siren's are starting to get silly, the dogs round the back emulate the sirens as soon as they hear them. Ok so who do I need to complain to, local MP??

As said no problem if there's a genuine need for them but clear straight road when there's no-one in front of them is having a laugh
