neat washing up liquid instead of soapy water helps to get the tyres inflated at first, had to use this with highrollers on crests. Once seated deflate and put sealent in (either pop a bit of the tyre off the rim or remove valve core). I use a small syringe and inject sealent thru valve. Then pump back up and do the wiggly thing to get the sealent all round the tyre. Use soapy water on a brush to see where the tyre is hte most porous.

I’ve managed to inflate with a track pump but a compressor makes things a bit easier.

    Hope that helps

love it, use Reblochon when I can get it if not I make do with Camembert, I boil the spuds in milk and fry onions, pancetta or bacon with some finely chopped chilli’s and garlic to give it a bit of a kick :)

to keep the oil in the forks make sure you take them apart with the forks upside down, if not you’ll get oil all over your shoes.

Just check the lower leg maintenance video and it’ll all make sense, this link may help, it’s for TALAS but don’t worry

think the classic was designed for 105mm forks, my old one was ok with a set of revelation swound out to 130 on the downhills, steering was a bit slow though. on the uphills anything other thatn being wound down to 100mm and it wandered all over the place

what would’ve happened if you hadn’t jumped off the bike 8O definately report to the cops and haul them across the coals.

Yep she failed to stop at the scene of the accident, you had to chase her down to get her attention and details she didn’t stop voluntarily

Just out of interest what did you use to check spoke tensions?

I’ve been building wheels for too long to remember and I never charge mates form doing their wheels, if they decide to get me a few beers in return all the better. I agree with many that 3 wheels is not enough to start charging for your service and as such you should’ve been doing it for the experience

Open procedure for a femoral hernia, removed nodes from inguinal ligament, still got a 5-6inch scar, 7 weeks off the bike (first few weeks very painful) 12 weeks after the op did the Fred Whitton. Can still feel the scar tissue a good few years on and some tightness when it’s cold but everyones different.

digital luggage scales, some peoples idea of bike weights are laughable, guy the other day was convinced his bike weighed 22lb I picked it up and said oh really, have you weighed it. Usual answer that’s the weight on the website so he believed it, he then asked if a large would be heavier than a medium, some people will believe owt

new exhaust is wrong, strangling the engine and not letting it breath, had the same problem with an aftermarket CAT fitted to my AUDI, replaced the cat and everything was back to normal. That’s what I reckon but I could be talking bollox

if they’re that far out of wack loosen all of them off and start from scratch, i.e. set the nipples just at the base of the thread and go from there in small steps, it#’ll probably take less time in the lnog run. Just and idea :)

as wwaswas says different tension depending on dishing and 10% of the mean for each side. Sorry but it has to be said if you’ve gone to the effort of buying a spoke tension guage I’d assume you’ve built or know how to build wheels. A read of Roger Musson’s book on building wheels is probably worthwhile. Sapims race are 2.0/1.8/2.0 double butted spokes so similar to DT Swiss, my crests are built up with DT Comps / 3 cross and read 23 on Drive side and 20 on the non drive from what i remember. The hope hoops on another bike were 24 / 21 straight from the factory but who’s to say that the tension meter is calibrated correctly.

Yep the wheels have been built the way I would normally, but for King hubs the lacing on the front wheel leading spoke should be heads out on the disk side. Don’t think it meantions that for the rear hub though

Hi, nice but what are the angles on that, and as TLH’s comment on blue and green not working I beg to differ :)

Proper ride yesterday, best for a long time, North York Moors and is was suprisingly dry. The trace is missing about 1 1/2mile and 200foot of climbing thanks to the random stop/start button on my EDGE 305

Oi, only got it in November and it’s only been built up for about a month, well maybe a bit longer

Agree looks better without the Crud Guard but necessary evil round our parts

Frame 2nd hand from the states, then stipped, powder coated and rebuilt from scratch. New Crest Rims on King hubs, mix of XTR from M901 up to M971. Thomson post and stem, Easton Bars, Hope Brakes, King headset, xlite seat clamp, Hope BB and old faithful WTB Saddle. Weighs in around the 27lb mark

Will sort out more pics when I get home. It rides a dream feels so much more planted than my old Blur which I loved. The pushed shock on it is way better than the standard RP23, will give it a proper outing at the weekend and exper with fork length etc..

Hmm sounds like you may have to bin the post, if it’s been greased and de-laminated it could be well stuck. WD40 or GT85 down the side of the post. INner tube around the post and a set of molgrips or stilsons might shift it

I like it, I’m going to build one for my girlfriend as Cotic don’t do a soul in XS size which is what we need. Once done I’ll let you know what it weighs.

Also what scales were used to weigh the bike ??

ok used to do a 15 mile commute best times as follows : Hardtail mtb with knobblies 43minutes, cx bike 41 minutes, Full on road bike 37 minutes (mind you I was pushing it) would normally be around 39minutes

90mm down to 70mm made a big difference on my soul, also switched from 670 to 685mm bars though. Feels more chuckable and planted

I’m still getting bad vibes here, it’s a bike a very good commuter in my opinion, granted it’s not as twitchy, fast or climbs hills like my road bike but then again I can’t ride singletrack on my roadbike but it does cut thru traffic better than a mountain bike and the steering is plenty quick enough for me, but everyone’s different.

It would be nice to see more comments from actual owners than prospective buyers

Ok to redress the negative vibes here I’ve had my >X< for a couple of months now and love it. It’s disked up with BB7’s and suffers no brake chatter / shudder. Got full guards fitted to it (Had to bend the stays thru the brakes) but it all looks very neat and fitted a small boss to mount the rear guard using the hole in the bottom bracket with no affect on front mech performance. I had to get the large cos I’ve got long legs and it fits me a treat

There’s loads of good stairs in Newcastle, theere’s some that go from behind the Bridge Hotel down to the Quayside are good. Dog Leap ones aren’t to bad if you catch them on a dry day.

Oh and there’s the Wooden Escalator in the Tyne Tunnel :-)
