I've got a 575 and aP7. If had to ditch one,it would be the Orange. I can ride the Yeti all day and still be in good enough shape to ride the next day.
I am an old knacker with very little ability, tho.

Good advice above. The Bel Air suits my boney arse on short rides and all dayers.

It's a nice bit of trail and keeps the punters away from my local woods. Great work ,Chase Trails.

…but the Mk111 is pug ugly. There are problems with any old motors, but the old Golf isn't too bad. My nephew has one,a lovely, flawed motor.

Monksie,I can't give details.I took what he told me in good faith. He's a physiotherapist,a serious road racer. He wanted to lose a stone and that's how he did it. As an aside,he doesn't drink alcohol and is incredibly fit. When he comes mountain biking,he gives us a good kicking.

    Munkster,that's a proper mountain bike!

I've got one,no photos.Lovely bike, too expensive. If I'd have realised they're not made in England,I would have bought an On One.

Monksie, a riding mate of mine is a keen roadie. He's a big, strong lad(no lard). He was talking to the Nutrionist at work, about diet/losing weight and she said to stop eating at night(cos you tend not burn off the calories). He's lost a stone without altering his intake, just the timing.

Eat less, exercise more. Don't eat in the evenings. It's all common sense.

Spuds for me.They do clog with mud, snow, ice etc,but they never break.Egg Beaters do,not all of 'em,but enough to make me stick with Shimano.

Iain and Neil are correct. It's not important.

    I've watched the footage,they aren't human.They climb quicker than I descend.Very impressed.

I think the non-bog readers have completely missed the point. The intended business doesn't take long, but while you're out of sight,a bit of light reading is one of life's pleasures…..bored with MTB mags tho'…again.

That's a cracking photo.Perfect illustration of how to ride a mountain bike.

Great photos Col….how dare they ride on rocks on sub 40lb bikes…without flats ….five-tens…lard-hiding baggies and no armour? Are they mad?

I've been through this, but my kids are now 18 and 14,so it's not a problem now.
Family does come first and night rides are a great solution to the work/family life balance. I like to ride at weekends, but generally it's local, cos I feel a bit of prick driving somewhere to ride my bike. I try to have a couple of trips to the Lakes each year, but we also do stuff as a family at weekends.
Marriage is all about compromise, try and sort a rota without it descending into a row…..not always easy.

    Endura,poor quality.
Assos, the best shorts that I've owned, but apparently quality has dipped since they switched production from Switzerland.
I'm going to try Sugoi next.

I've got both and both perform well. The Revelations have been unreliable, but are now working well on the P7.
The Floats are more subtle and so far have been problem-free.
    I'd go for Fox .

Den,glad you enjoyed Hanchurch. It's my local, there's plenty more fun to be had in the woods. I prefer it to the trail centres.

I rode at Hanchurch at the weekend. Intended to ride in the Open class, but that was in the afternoon,so I rode the Fun Class.
Like Graham ,I was surprised by how quick they set-off,wrongly thought that they'd struggle on the first climb.Wrong. Took me a while to get up to speed.
I know the lad that finished second in the Sport class. He's had knee problems for a while and didn't expect to do well. He's a seriouslygood rider, but wasn't pot-hunting.
Talking of turbo trainers, saw a young lad on one with his Dad proudly watching. I found it quite depressing.
Really enjoyed the day, good course and great weather.

Doveridge is a lovely spot….even better if you like fishing. Spent many a happy hour fishing the river there.
Another bonus is it's proximity to Stoke.

Johnny,I got my idea from riding the place. It is short enough to blast round. There's been a liberal coating of ice on my last two visits.
If we waited for warm days and dry trails,we wouldn't get much riding done on our woderful island. Riding in the mud keeps you sharp.
