    1) How many times have you experienced a cycling incident where your were wearing a helmet and the helmet was damaged but you weren’t?
    2) How many times have you received a blow to the head while cycling where neither you nor your helmet suffered any damage?
    3) How many times have you been involved in a cycling incident where your helmet has harmed you regardless of whether it protected you or not?
    4) What percentage of your cycling time is ridden without wearing a helmet

    Just to kick off

    1) 2
    2) loads, usually low slung branches
    3) once, got a strained neck but avoided a fractured skull so will take it.
    4) 0%

another phil and teds fan here. Have a 2 yo and 6 month old and not sure what we would do without it

def go for a side-by-side one rather than a ‘you sit here and have a nice view, and you sit in this bag and not be able to see anything’ one.

utter bollocks – side-by-side chairs are waaay to cumbersome unless you have an MPV/massive house and only shop at the mall.

sorry – that sounds harsher than i intended

we have the 2.o tdi SE and its great. Plenty of room for kids/prams/etc and take some seats out (you choose the config) and plenty of room for bikes/kit.

the 2 seats at the back fold down flush into the boot and the three in the middle row can be removed in seconds to give a decent payload. VW even offer a specific bike rack for the boot space.

Not at all; imagine it had been acid or something really nasty?

Imagine it were you; would you not feel a little concerned that some evil person might want to throw acid in your face?

no – it was custard, not acid.

if, as a politician, I was at all worried about having acid thrown in my face by some random nutnut then i would either:

a: have my security team escort me into the building
b: go in through a different entrance
c: panic, and stay at home.

    it was custard

now personally i would have used cold gravy but hey…

As odious as politicians are, I don’t think acts like this should be tolerated, really. Very childish. Should have nicked her, massive fine and/or jail, and deter others from doing it. There are enough nut jobs who might think that it’s a good way to seriously harm someone.

new job at the daily mail RB?

its actually not too bad in the paddy fields of east kent. some shitey sections right enough where horses have been acting as rotivators but some lovely dry descents. Had huge fun yesterday but am paying for it today : )

I’ve just written one of these myself!

Include a comprehensive annual staff survey including methods of travel and questions about which incentives would encourage them to give up the car etc etc, staff distribution in terms of residence/distance travelled etc. You can use this as tool to determine what measures you need to put in place.

Speak to local bus/rail companies to see whether you can get a discount scheme going for your staff

Speak to liftshare companies in your area – these can be quite effective also

Have you signed a section 106 with your local authority yet? If not then don’t until you are completely happy that you can meet your aims/targets

I would also conduct an offsite-onstreet parking survey as soon as you can to get a picture as to how you are affecting the local area and its something the LA will be very interested in.

Sorry none of this is in a clear order, just typing as thoughts are occuring : )

2 years ago there was a murder 3 doors down from my house. A group of lads beat a man to death after he disturbed them breaking into his house. I heard the attack and went out to see if i could help, i couldn’t.

    http://www.kent.police.uk/News/Latest_News/3%20jailed%20Mark%20Witherall%20murder.html

Unluckily for the little scumbags a neighbour had a CCTV camera on the road that night with an audio feed that captured the whole thing.
