I work in FE/HE (not academic staff) and it seems that most teachers f-cking hate teaching, whinge constantly about how much they get paid, take loads of sickleave and have no idea how to live in the real world that exists outside of the education sector.

if it still appeals to you then go for it, but don’t be surprised by the negative bollocks that will grind you down and make you half as happy as you are today.

good aesthetics and good design are not necessarily the same thing.

yep, its entirely subjective. Do you think that the spitfire was designed to look cool or be agile/fast/effective? Sometimes looking great and working great combine, other times they don’t.

The treatment of the Gurkhas is beyond belief. How complicit have the MOD been in all this?

Apparently the NHS have been giving those infected with Swine flu a special diet of kippers and pancakes. There is no nutriational reason, they are just the only things that the nurses can get under the door.

I think that a lot of people lack the knowledge and confidence to intervene. In my experience when one intervenes more will follow.

My wife did CPR on a guy that collapsed in a corner shop (he didn’t make it) and the women behind her in the queue, a serving nurse, refused to get involved “cos I’m not at work”

I am doing a 2 day paediatric first aid course in a couple of weeks time, hopefully never have to use it but would not be able to walk past someone like Ambrose and his lad without helping!

    1. I had a lovely ride in this morning and will have a lovely ride home tonight

    2. Both my kids are happy, healthy and almost always laughing and smiling

    3. Its pay day

    4. My wife is happy

    5. My garden is a mass of cherry, apple and pear blossom at the minute – you wanna know where all the bees have gone? They are buzzing round excitedly outside my house :-)

    6. I live 5 minutes from the beach which is a massive bonus in the summer (its pretty good in the winter but in the summer its like every weekend is a holiday)

    7. Its friday

All the best to all on STW, may the sun shine on you and the wind be at your back whatever you are doing. 8)

All human babies. **** horrific some of them. Especially Caucasian ones. Like boiled beetroots. And the proud mother waves it in your face and you can hardly point out the resemblance to Winston Churchill so you have to lie and say ‘Beautiful’. And yes, I include my own child in that categorisation. I almost had to be physically restrained from asking if there was something wrong with him when he was born. ‘Is he supposed to look like he’s churning out the worlds largest number 2, constantly?’

lol, yep my youngest looked like phil mitchell having a shit for the first couple of months of his life. :-)

So presumably you are donating the wheels and other bits to your employer which they are then leasing back to you?

no, if asked i am donating them to the lbs who will in turn donate them back to me as part of the overall build

i will be buying a frame/fork and getting all the bits from one of my existing bikes swapped over.

Nothing in the rules that prohibit that, the LBS will supply me with a complete bike when i go to pick it up.

Its the european neolithic for me. The introduction of agriculture, the errection of massive temple sites, the beginnings of long distance trade routes and the tracking of the seasons and heavenly bodies by people who were true pioneers. I have long suspected that they had an inate connection to the land and its other inhabitants that we have long since relinquished in favour of 3 piece suites and turkey twizzlers.

didn’t the police said that they had not come into any contact with him? then they said that they had and had come under attack whilst tried to help him?

I spent quite a few years living there in the 70s and it has improved immeasurably in the last decade.

I would also consider Tring and Princes Risborough area too.
