Simon, do you have the memorymap route saved? I had my gizmo set up wrong (recording every second rather than smartrecording) and only recorded half of it

If you do, be great if I could get a copy:)

Aleigh – I’m dissaponted – I think you should go.

A lot of what has ben said is true, its run down, tacky, lots of chavs – but I’ve been loads of times and stayerd over (usually for gigs at the empress) and not been glassed or mugged. If you’re out with a group of friends up for a laugh, you’ll have fun – then you can slag off the place with the rest of us based on experience. Everyone needs to experience Blackpool at least once.

I think we should have a picture thread, as being from up north, I don’t get the chance to point and laugh at these “{well, i don’t really know what the slang is}”

Deejay, you’re more than welcome pal – I really won’t be offended if yuo guys drop me off the back of the peleton (just make sure you point me in the right direction before you do) – last thing I want is for me to be holding anyone up and ruining their days riding and thats why I’m always a bit cautious about arranging rides with people I don’t know. I’m just desperate to get up there and get to know some of the trails as a bit of a change to riding round Rivvy.

Lowey, love the photos pal, can’t wait to get up there now. Pretty sure we’re looking at week on sunday (1st march) – be good if you could come:)

Waterdale is the small pond not far from philips hall thats always full of weed and also contains the top 3 sections of my pole!

Years ago, we used to make dens all round that area and not far from the pond we fouind an uner ground building – only way to describe it was a long corridor with similar sized rooms coming off it, bit like a prison or travelodge but with much lower ceilings. All sorts of equipment in there and as part of it had been demolished you had to climb through a tiny opening in the rubble – seroiusly unsafe looking back now. But I remember being told it was part of a hospital. Wonder if its still there now?

finish on NFT (if you must!).
I’ll quite happily forget about that if you want – originally I was going on my own and didn’t know any routes so thought the NFT would be a good start, but now I’ve got a guide…………..I’m ha[ppy to go where you think is best.

    Is Lowey coming?
I’ve never met him other than following some of his rivvy routes posted on here, but anyone is welcome as far as im concerned.

My mate who fancies it doesn’t really come on here as he doesn’t get near a PC much, but he does ride regular and very easygoing

I’m a strict 9-5 employee so I think maybe a week on sunday would be best for me – 1st March? One of my friends quite fancies it to, just text him and he seemed well up for it…….he’s much fitter than me also!

    Hi Fagus,
I was thinking maybe a week on saturday – but be warned
Still working on my fitness (as 3/10 at the moment but climbing:))

If you don’t mind waiting at the top of the climbs for me  I’d enjoy that. I’ll send you a mail early next week to confirm.

    cheers

I had some of the 661 tacky ones and they were awful!! So much so that I wouldn’t buy any 661 products again (to be honest it was a mioxture of this, ill fitting armour and poor quality gloves) Just how scardy described them, really soft sole and hard edges – really not comfy, not particularly grippy and fell apart pretty soon (i was glad). I now have 5:10’s and you really can believe the hype with these, mega comfy, mega grippy and had them over 12months and not showing any sifns of falling apart – FWIW mine are the original plain black suede ones not the garish new ones.

When I got married last year, all the ushers, best man paid for their own and we obv paid for EVERYTHING else.

I always thought it was tradition for the men to pay for their own suits…….thats always what all my friends have done in the past so I followed suit

We went there day after NY’s stayed for a few days. Loved it even though its bloody freezing in winter. TBH- remove the sex tourism/crap and it would make the place even better IMO

whoa there!! YOu don’t have to trawl the Red LIght – but its nice to know its there for a giggle:)

Take LOTS of money! Spent new year there, 5-6euro a pint & shot + mixer 9euro.

Smoking is harder nowadays as they have thre smoking ban in a lot of places. I viosioted a lot of coffee shops that I’ve ben to over the last few years and found thery have constructed tiny smoking areas boxed in by perspex – difficult to actually find places you can smoke and drink at the same time – they’tre still there just not as prolific as they were, even say 12 months ago.

Red light area is worth spending an evening as theres lots to see and do plus loads of places to call in for a drink / smoke. But after a couple of laps you will have seen all you want to see.

Head down to Leidseplein, lots of bars and restaurants (streets of Italian, Steakhouses etc.) – much less ‘scummy’ than around Dam Sq/Red Light.

Great Steak house in Rembrantplein call the Three Sisters and opposite one of the better coffee shops, Smokeys (it looks very commercial but once inside its a nice place to be)

Coffeeshops to seek out – Smokeys, Abraxas, Greenhouse, Hill Street Blues, The Waterhole and if you’ve never ben before, you’d best call in the Gtrasshopper – everyone whos ever been to the Dam must have losty a few hours in ther at one point.

Def woth hiriong some bikes for a few days and take aride down to the Vondlepark – great fun whilst trying to ride back to your hotel at 3am wasted:)

Always thought he was ‘ok’ – but his comments on the jobs climate just shows he’s out of touch, saying there should be no sympathy for white collar workeres because they hadn’t had to deal with being unemployed before…………….these white collar workers prob sdtarted off as the students who supported his career for so long and now make up a huge proportion of the workforce i.e. everyday people and not some sort of elite upper class – seriously Morrissey you &$%£ sucker!
