Thanks for the thoughts on run-flats.

I’ve checked with her and she does have one of the sealant kit things in the boot.

With regard to a spare, the boots is always full with a pram and her work boots, PPE etc

In reality I dont see her trying to change a wheel anyway so probably not that concerned about run-flat or not now.

    Thanks

Looking at some for my wifes BMW 2 series – thought I’s settled onn the Goodyear Vectors 4Seasons

However, shes asked me if these re run-flats as she doesn’t have a spare…erm nope, they’re not

What are thoughts on this (run-flats) for cars that dont have a spare?

I think it looks brilliant – want one!

Edit – I did have an EV6 GT which was faultless and now have a T6.1.  Will need the range to move people away from ICE vans

We’re going as a family for the first time.

Only concern is what to do with the bikes – naively thought they had 24hr secure bike storage but only looks to be 8am-10pm in the main area.

Says to lock your bike in your vehicle overnight and not to your rack but they won’t fit.  I’ve got a decent enough lock and chain (But obv aware of their limitations).  Any advice from Malverns regulars?

As the father of a 2year old I’m following this with interest – Like a lot of this new parenting…I have no idea of the answer :)

Although the fact you’re asking the questions means that you and your wife will probably come up with the right answer for you and your family

Mountain Morph – just watch trappoing your skin between the handle and body when using

Also usually have a Leatherman Skeletool – Philips & flathead, bottle opener – I carry it for the pliers, found these useful on quite a few occasions for different things – I mention this tool as it has a good knife like you asked but struggling to think when I’ve really ever used it

I’m also on the lookout for the perfect multi-tool

    Only the following – 2,2.5,3,4,5,6,8 – T10, T25 – 0,1,2,3 spoke – all with tools of a decent length

Carry Park Chain tool and Dynaplug seperately and have no need for screwdriver heads (if I did see above)

    Incredible bike IMO

Had one 1.5years and love it.  Admittedly its currently being looked at for warranty, but I did buy it down south and with the Global warranty I was able to take it to my local Leisure Lakes to get sorted.

Once you get used to the weight, which doesn’t take long it just does everything you could ask of it and I personally find the riding position spot on (as I have with my previous Stumpjumpers).

From big days out doing things like Ullock Pike to laps at Dyfi bike park – handles everything, well!

EDIT- For balance, a friend has a Giant Reign ebike – had a few motor issues but he’s found Giant warranty to be very good/helpful

    Hmmm – I think I may have/had it.

Definitely the feeling of something catching my throat and then a very log coughing fit when I’d struggle to breath.  It does feel a bit like choking.

Not as bad asd it was but been going on for about 8 weeks – feel like I’m just about over it.

    Very unpleasant :(

Right then – will take bikes, and a bit of food, already stocked up on smidge and headnets.

Can you tell I’m excited about our first time at “Fort Bill” :)

@rapiddescent – thanks for the solid advice – we’ve got a 2 year old in tow so will park up well away from the barn.

First time at Wild camp – but from what I’ve seen we’re not even going to bother taking too much food with us and rely on the breakfasts, burgers and pizzas for a few days :)

Still can’t decide whether to bother taking the bikes tho – proably not much ‘proper’ riding time for us so just used for getting to the venue and maybe bobbing to the shops – it was only the thopughjt of waiting ‘hours’ for the shuttle back that made me want to take the bikes

Thats what I was hoping hear – much appreciated Bob – sounds like my basic Kryptonite D Lock and cable will be ok then – I’ll leave the Pragmasis back at the camp site :)

For those riding uptop the event village – whats the deal with the bike park/store?  I’ve read that there are security staff and rider identification but to bring a suitable lock.

I’ve got a Pragamasis 19mm chain which would be ridiculous to carry around – but then I’m not convinced that some sort of cable lock would be any use at all.  We need to lock up 2 bikes – thoughts from anyone thats used it before would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    @matt_outandabout

What are your thoughts on Wild Camp vs Spean Bridge One – heading up with my wife and our 2year old toddler first thing Friday.

We’ve only stayed at Glen Nevis  in nthe past which I’m guessing is a completely different propspect to these pop up ones.

    Thanks

Edit – Also torn on whether to take the bikes with us (for bobbing about abou on) – will the bikes feel safe locked up on thre alloys?

    It fades.

    South facing Bifolds.

General fading might not be much of an issue, but, if like us you had a rug there, under our table, it’s acted like masking tape.

I’m generally against this sort of thing, but as someone that’s recently quit – I’m fully on board with this

Like most smokers, I wish I’d never started – once you do, it’s an addiction, don’t kid yourself

However, I’m also for the decriminalisation of weed so my opinions don’t really make any sense

I’ve justy had something similar with Cycling UK – looks like they’re not doing the club affiliated membership anymore – although gave a 20% discount on the first year

I only came here to see the STW elite **** themslves into a frency at the prospect of outing anyone that doesn’t like it, as bigoted, racist gammons.

I’ve not been disappointed so far:)

This was timely.  BBC weather presenter has just stopped buying new clothes….last year she spent £700.

Must admit, I’d have thought someone on TV would spend more on clothes than the average STWer

Soakaways won’t work in cohesive soils no matter how big they are.

Small patio draining into the domestic foul will be fine – thats what I did.

Now, if you were talking about discharging foul into the surface water….well you just wouldn’t would you !?

We have a MacRide – one thing slightly annoying is thar the seat angle can’t be adjusted – so if you’re running a mullet with a short seat tube (like my Levo Pro), the seast is angled a bit too far back.  However, still seems a much better design that a standard seat like the KRS

Our 2 year old wasn’t so sure on her first ride out (Lakes minus2deg) – she managed to hold on ok but seems much happier in the Weeride

Not rushed hewr back on the MacRide, waiting for the weather to warm up a bit

Some sort of high end tool company, Park whatever…have you seen those contraptions he enjoys building and riding

I honestly think he’d be good for any company that picks him up.

You can tell he just does everything he does for the love of it and clearly gives A LOT of his time encouraging/helping kids.

The fact that he annoys so many judgemental types here on STW can only be a good thing.

It’s very easy to shrug our shoulders and pretend we’re powerless but doing so just makes us willingly ignorant apologists for it.

Well thankfully dazh, we have people like you that have really been the drivers of change in global politics over the last few years.

The deliberate murder and starvation of an entire population is an issue that is far more important than whether you can get a doctor’s appointment.
You forgot the “should be”.  For many people who need a doctors appointment that trumps their immediate concern on anything Israel is doing.  We are in a privileged enough position to have it as a priority,  lot of people really are not.

Agree – whilst politicians views on global issues is something that goes towards the charachter of our elected officials, its just self-indulgent words, its not like they can actually do anything about things like Palestine.

This one issue  is not something I’d be basing my vote on.

Been wondering about camping a bit further out then trying to get on some sort of bus on the day.
