Oh should be doable on a kelly-kettle! The M-kettle has a rubber cork… wouldn’t like to transport it on it’s side though…

Get him to bug the employer about suppliers? Edinburgh Bikes have loads of 26″ bikes left in their sales just here and they do C2W and are super helpful!

Joshvegas – it’s not too wobbly? I was going to get a titanium trivet and use the base to cook with once the water is ready… The water boils so quick is there time to cook on top? ❓ Oh mine came in a tight fitting red bag, it had a couple of D-rings for strapping it to stuff iirc.

Scotroutes – lovely gaiters 😀 I think I did the WHW a few years after you, I remember some of the path was knackered. Oh and my friend got food poisoning at the glenorchy hotel. 😳

It looks pretty cool – I’m a novice at bike building though – how much would a pretty basic set of components set me back?

It’s got lighter wheels anyway… ah, from Evans site

(TL:DR lighter wheels, disc brakes inside the triangle so you can use normal racks. Other things a bit better)

“Genesis Croix de Fer 2014 Cyclocross Bike. The irrepressible Croix de Fer returns for another year. Visually similar to last years’ model but with some choice tweaks to improve versatility, everyday use and overall ride characteristics. For starters, the new inboard disc dropout moves the calliper mounting position to between the stays, meaning no more faff to space out mudguards or a rear rack to clear the calliper. They’ve dropped weight from the Wheelset (via some lighter rims and double-butted spokes), upgraded to better sealed hubs and added Continental’s Cyclocross Speed semi-slick tyres into the mix for better rolling performance on a wide variety of different surfaces. Gearing has been widened via a 12-30T cassette out back to give a really low climbing gear to aid fully-laiden adventures into the unknown.

Everything’s brought to a shuddering halt by Hayes excellent new CX Expert (formerly CX5) mechanical disc brakes – the stiff, one-piece forged aluminium calliper offering brilliant power and modulation. There are integrated barrel adjusters for on-the-fly adjustments and we’ve offset the slight weight increase of the calliper with Hayes L1 lightweight rotor. Oh, and we’ve also added a 50cm frame size, meaning more of you can now enjoy the closest model we have in our range to that fabled ‘one bike’.”

Sadly now amazon has all the small crappy sellers working through them, that’s pretty normal. Sorry! They are worried about being swizzed.

And now the free postage is being done by Yodel, the worst pile of sheep’s balls postal service EVER. 👿

This is why road jerseys have three pockets at the back – the left and right ones are for a pair of Crocs.

Wel fair enough if you don’t like them… Ti frames are going to get a lot cheaper and better over time though…

What about a nice leather jacket, or a cowboy hat? 🙂

No one talks about the Dark Tower embarrassment. Talking dogs, gun-shooting knights and possibly the killer Thomas the Tank Engine…. 😀

Most definitely the custom bike (Shand for preference). Get a nice bottle of whisky and think about her when you have a dram. Keep any left over money for house/wedding stuff – she’s a granny, it’s what she would of wanted!

If you’re at the art college, check the Bike Station and Soul Cycles – you can pick up a second hand bike for not too much. It might be a clunker but you get get some rides in!

I have a regular kindle and it’s great – kind of wish I’d gone for the paperwhite but hey ho. Normal books are pretty good, and a lot of slightly out-field ones tend to be cheap as chips, or free. As said above, Project Gutenberg is great, and you can find other sites (I mean proper legal ones!).

Oh and for series of books like err terrible David Weber books *cough* quite often a lot of them are free, to get you to buy the new ones. 😯

I’ve been touring with someone who took their kindle – it was crap for maps, but she did have the Rough Guide to Scotland on it, which was useful..

You might be better with a basket and bodge it with saw and some bungees to convert it into a pannier holder. 😆

The better baskets do have pretty hefty fittings so should be fine for carrying a laptop, especially if you’ve sawn the front 2/3 of the basket away!

Edit, ah thought I remember these – pretty strong tubular one for carrying beer. Takeout Handlebar rack. Possibly too nice to saw up though!

I once had a couple of teenagey girls say ‘what are you doing on the FOOT path??’ I got to point at the white painted bike-path sign they were standing on 😀

edit – fair play to them, they said ‘oh’ and got out the way!

You could try singing hymns? Or doing a full-throated evil laugh “Mu-ha-ha-ha”

I’d pay good money for an electric bell that played Brian Blessed at people…

I was wondering about that! If he can get sponsored by Irn Bru and Glenmorangie too I will build a small shrine in my shed.

Caramel Log ftw, as it is basically the wafer, but with MANLY death-risk from choking on the coconut/dandruff coating.

That said, at my wedding we did a buffet and the giant pile-o-teacakes was ravaged into nothing in the first 5 minutes.

I always liked the postie bikes – didn’t they donate them to african charities when they were finished with them?

Closest I ever found was a stall at a market in amsterdam selling loads of the Royal Mail post bags. Oh, and bowler hats.

Hmm can you buy the police mtb’s second hand anywhere?

You can get shiny photo paper that works in a normal printer… A4 obviously 🙂 we did a bunch of printing from my baby niece’s baptism, and they seemed to come out lovely. Obviously this won’t work for your large pics, but if your doing loads of normal sized ones…
