Thanks Tracey, when you had the pro pedal on would the shock stiffen up much? The pro pedal lever doesn’t have the same spring action to it that my RP2 on the Lapierre had, so may be faulty?

There’s 3 DH runs in grenoside, but only one open at the moment I believe?
They are all only a few mins from the carpark (over the road).

Wharncliffe stuff can be a little harder to find, theres some newer stuff in the far corner and some of the older runs come off the fireroads on the way back to the carpark from there.

Here’s a ride I did at greno and the newer bits at wharncliffe.

If you look on strava explore, most of the runs have a segment so you can find them on there :)

How far are you willing to travel?

A couple of decent spots in the N Yorks moors for DH, although they all only have one main run down:
Carlton Bank (Don’t go when its windy)
    Silton
    Wykeham

Wharncliffe in Sheffield has loads of DH runs if you know where to look. I live in York but do pop there every now and then.

They tend to be normal shoe sizes, go for the 10.5.

Black loop is fun, it’s no more technical than the red at Cannock though.

The red loop is ok, but I don’t really like the long fireroad climb to come back down a fireroad. I tend to just take a shortcut to the top of transmission, accellerator and nitrous.

The root 66 climb is good to try clear without putting a foot down, it was quite puddly last time I was there though.

I sold a 5 month old snappierre Zesty 914 2013 because of continual crack issues & having had enough of it & the timing was right as SC launched the Bronson, I swiftly imported one late 2013 saved a lot of hard earned pennies & from many people I had very negative comments, it’ll never replace 26, what’s the point, hardly any difference in tyre size blah blah I could go on, well if you’ve ridden a 650b bike long enough to understand it then the benefits are real, yes there are still some cracking 26″ bikes out there but sadly the value of them is plummeting, & I have to say we are victim to market forces & manufacturers but it’s here to stay so either embrace it try & get a fair price soon or get really pissed of at getting nowt for your 26′ bike. And I thought the wheel debate call it what you may had been done to death on here.

To be fair I doubt the wheelsize makes that much difference. I swapped my zesty for a 26″ Specialized Enduro and it feels better in pretty much every way.

Maybe not a propper ridge but ‘The edge’ at hamsterley looks like you could end up a long way away from the trail if it did go wrong, but there’s a good few tree’s to break your fall atleast :-)

My 2012 carbon zesty frame cracked after a year. Sent photo’s off and had a replacement 2013 914 frame two weeks later, they didn’t even ask for the old frame back :)

It was the little drop near the end of stage 2 that caught me out, in practise you could hold a decent speed and cut the corner into it, to give you a nice run out into the next section. The braking area was a bog on my race run and I just came into it sliding on my bum…

Here’s a couple of me from rootsandrain

I would get a top guide, dropped the chain in an enduro yesterday, running 1×10 with NW chainring.

Was a bit of a nightmare, had a few offs in the mud and chain came off on the last stage :(
The off piste was a total mess after the rain and everyone practising all morning, was really hard to keep any speed up.

    11:25 for me, 201/321 overall

I was there on Monday and it’s fine, just a few puddles about.
There is a few trail closure’s on the follow the dog trail though, and lower cliff is closed on the monkey trail.

Thanks, from the trails I meant. I tried to find it last time I was there and the postcode took me somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

I didnt realise it was on the chasetrails website

Hamsterley Enduro is coming up next weekend (15th) :D

I have a new bike to build up and get used to before then, and I’m working away in Stafford so looks like I’ll be taking it with me and getting some night riding in over at Cannock Chase / stile cop. I’ve not ridden a full suss in over a month so not expecting anything special!

Most new cars have a small auxiliary heater to blow warm air before the engine gets chance to warm up. Won’t clear the windscreen particularly fast though.

Lavatrax are really good, did the ‘Los Retamares Descent’ route which was perfect. Got a lift up to the start (2300m) and it was downhill all the way to the coast :D

Stephen Hawking had his first date for 10 years last week. He came back, his glasses were smashed, he had a broken wrist, a twisted ankle and grazed knees.

    Apparently, she stood him up!
