I’ve got a HR2 60a on the back currently but wouldn’t recommend it as a winter tyre, its slips about too much on climbs trying to get traction, and slides out on the descents.

I’ve had a DHF previously which was great, but not the best rolling, which is why I’m about to try a DHR2 3C,

Go for the EXO protection sidewalls if you ride anywhere rocky.

Have the same problem on my galaxy S4 on Lollipop, clearing data doesn’t seem to help either…

The reason for the weight training is mainly to focus on leg strength to hopefully pump better on the MTB, and to hop higher/further to clear obstacles, which turbo training won’t really help with. Or would you just focus on this while riding the MTB?

I’ll have a look over on british cycling :)

Thanks for the advice. I’ve been riding once or twice a week on the MTB, usually 2-4hr and quite high intensity in places, but generally stop and chat a few times, nothing serious. I’ve also been doing a couple of spinning classes a week until I bought the turbo, and a short run per week. There’s certainly room for improvement on the cardio though…

I’ve got a few enduro races coming up this year, the first is in Hamsterley on 14th Feb.

I was hoping to get some squats/deadlifts and balance work in there too, but it does usually take me a couple of days to recover. I appreciate this will have an effect on cardio but unsure whether its worth it or not?

I had an 05 plate STI. You couldn’t fold the back seats down (not sure if this is STI only?) so was pretty terrible for getting the bike anywhere.

It’s a really nice car to drive fast, but it needs to be driven fast to be enjoyable imo.
Driving around town it’s laggy, heavy clutch and feels a bit of a pig.

Mine never seemed to manage over 20mpg (305bhp prodrive STI though…)

Could just be the throttle body or idle control valve needing a clean out, would give that a go before replacing leads and coilpack.

Check all the old plugs are golden brown on the tips when they come out so you know its not a problem in one cylinder.

Do you need to set the gap with the new plugs before fitting?

Lavatrax. I went for a days guided ride with Darren a couple of years back.
Shuttle up to 2300m, then the ride was pretty much downhill all the way to the coast.

I think the route was called ‘rottemere’s descent’, it should be on the website.

Really good riding, all sorts of terrains and some nice techy bits to have a go at too.

That’s a fair amount of climbing if it’s flat where you ride.
Train somewhere with some hills if poss, or maybe add some training in a higher gear / lower rpm than you’re used to.

EDIT.. The Macmillan 100km only looks like there’s around 1200m of climbing, the longer routes have more. You’ll be fine :)

There will probably just be a few puddles about on the red/black, it drains pretty well. Root666 will be wet but there is a fireroad past it if you want to avoid.

Descend DH lines can get pretty muddy if you plan on riding there.

If you’ve not ridden there before, just be aware the red loop has loads of long fire roads, I prefer to mix up the best bits of the red and do a full lap of the black (normal red difficulty imo).

Looking on SRAM service book now and it just says slide the lowers onto the uppers until it stops, so I think it should be ok?

How do you know when the bushings have engaged?

I actually just had a little read of this guide before doing it (which doesn’t mention compresing the forks):
    http://enduro-mtb.com/en/how-to-lower-leg-replacement-on-a-rockshox-pike/

I removed the valve core so any air should come out.

When it came to topping up the fluid I forgot how much oil to put in each leg. Had a quick google and the MBR video popped up so had a look at that which shows the forks having to be fully compressed otherwise there would be an extra air chamber in the fork lowers?

I’ve put it all back together as it is for now and pumped the forks back up. I’ll have to test if I can get full travel when the forks back on the bike, but wanted to check I’ve not missed anything.

There’s some good road riding around Strensall, head over to flaxton and upto castle howard and there are a few loops you can do from there depending how far you ride.

It’s pretty flat though so for trails you are about 40 mins from dalby and the n. yorks moors.

Great day out, the stages were brilliant! Fitness wise I felt crap, and was walking up most climbs after stage 4…

Binned it in the woods on the first stage, then again on one of the tight hairpins on stage 4. Other stages went ok, but the pedally bits were painful.

    S1 – 5:46
    S2 – 3:16
    S3 – 4:36
    S4 – 3:56
    S5 – 2:33

    Total – 20:09

    Quite happy considering my mishaps!

Pub run is on the right, that was open last weekend when I was there.
It needed a bit of bedding in, the new surface was a bit soft but might be ok now.

Had a walk up steel city too, it’s very smooth compared to what it was like before. I’m not sure how it will hold up if there is much rain, its still very soft on top and doesn’t look like it will drain too well.

Cheers will have a lookout for the facebook groups :)

Heart of England way looks good, and there’s loads of small bridleways linking up around Brockton / Milford, so will give this area a try too, looks fairly hilly.

I’m no good at massive gap jumps so might have to give them a miss unless there’s some smaller gaps or tabletops to build up on? Is this ‘Wildwood Dirtjumps’?

I’m looking for £170 posted, it’s in very good condition other than a couple of the stickers are coming away, they are £13 new although I was planning on just removing them and keeping the headtube badge.

Paintwork is lovely, the photo doesn’t really do it justice.

It will feel harsh because you are running the same psi. If you have a volume reducer, you won’t need as much air to get the same sag.

Got some mountain king’s if you can pick up from York, both 2.2 but come up fairly big, wire bead. Slight cracking on the sidewalls but should be fine with inner tubes?

yorkshire, he’s asking £19 more not £4. So yes in pure stw I am in the wrong and should be ashamed of myself. sorry

    These ones?
    http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1740193/

He’s asking £10 for the pair.

I’ve got some tyres I’d be happy to let go for free, if anyone can be bothered to make a bit of profit selling them on it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest.

    yorkshire89

Maybe he doesn’t like the tyres so decided to sell them on? He’s asking for £4 more than what he paid, and is probably expecting the buyer to meet in the middle somewhere.

Hardly worth a name and shame
