You only get a 1 year warranty on other parts, but if the frame fails in the first year would the forks/wheels still be fit for purpose on a 650b frame?

I was thinking the same, not sure if they would just replace the frame or the wheels/forks too?

I did go for the 2012 514 zesty in the end. I saw a lad at sherwood in the DH area on the same bike as me and noticed it was flexing alot from side to side under load. Had a look and the rear traingle and on the driveside chainstay there was a huge crack where the carbon/aluminium joint is just behind the BB. Fair play to him for having another run!

Went back to look at mine and you can see some glue on the joint and what I thought looked like a crack appearing, but its still holding up (for now).

That’s fine, I do the same.

Make sure you get the protection version, the standard conti tyres seem to puncture all the time.

jon1973 – I just set it to take a photo every 30 seconds, there were about 250 photo’s altogether.

I think it would have been fine on 1 photo per minute though, at the speed in the video.

I used a free download program called ‘timelapse animator’ which gives you a few options so you can change the frames per second and level of detail.

That was just my first attempt, best just to have a play with it and see how it turns out. I’m going to stick my gopro to the top of an egg timer and try make a panning timelapse next time round :)

If your using a gopro you will have to keep the usb attached to a computer to power it, the battery will only last a couple of hours.

    This was my first effort

I had a puma engined fiesta zs, loved it!
Also managed to get a standard 1.6 zetec s running 153bhp from 103bhp with cams, remap, exhaust and a head skim, and know others running around 190-200bhp with internal upgrades, so there’s certainly tuning potential with NA :)

I had a gruppeM carbon intake on my integra dc5 which did make a bit of difference for instant response, but been NA it still won’t feel like a turbo car.

You can get the KPRO upgrade for the ecu which will lower the VTEC crossover to around 4krpm rather than 6krpm.

Other than that you can get a full exhaust and throttle bodies but then you will be spending a few thousand with a remap etc so its never going to be a cheap job.

They are made to be revved, so just drive it that way!

In York here, so it’s about an hours drive to get to the hills which is a bit of a pain. Its a similar distance to get to the moors, dales or sherwood pines so atleast its not all the same.

Best bet is to take him to the vet, they will probably do a blood test just to check if he may have something that could be causing him pain.

Our Doberman loves a run out with the bike. Would happily stay out all day when its cold but if its a warm day I wouldn’t really ride for more than 2 hours, and would always ride somewhere with a stream she can cool down in.

Only problem is trying to keep infront of her!

Just joined up myself, can’t complain for £10 a month! I’ve not found the catch yet, you can cancel at anytime (although they may want 3 months notice).

Go for it, I really enjoyed it the first time I went. Fast and flowy sections with lots of berms. Not particularly technical but it was a nice change from other places I ride.

I’m using Nobby Nics, one tubeless ready, the other not.

Both seem fine so far with SS yellow tape on Mavic rims.

What year is it? I think they had the BB shell cracking issues sorted by 2010.

    I have a carbon 2012 that hasn’t cracked….yet :D

    Enjoy, love mine!

4-5mm is about as good as I could get it adjusting spoke length, was orignally around 7mm play possibly.

I’ll see what the shop reckons.

On-one £5 multi-tool is good. I only bought it to push my basket to over £20 for free delivery, so only cost £2.50!

Ndthornton – I could always give that a go as a last resort. Do you need to remove the hub/spokes first though? Or loosen the spokes where the bend is?

With the price of wheels now, I wonder if it will work out cheaper to get a hope hoop on the front instead rather than taking it to a wheelbuilder?

Scrumfled – :o Do you have a link fo this?

ETA: Bigyinn – tried that, but even with the spokes loose on that side its still not moving over much.

Do you have ‘DWG to PDF’ plotter? If not you should be able to download from Autodesk website.

I would have a go at Stainburn, its a nice change from other trail centre’s. Your never anymore than 10 mintues from the carpark but there’s plenty to have a go at.

The red loop and descent are fairly short and sweet but you can have a few goes on each. Pretty technical though, took me a few outings before feeling comfortable to go for it on the decent.

The black is very technical, i still walk alot of it.

There’s a couple of nice descents over the road too, its an xc loop but i tend to walk up the descent if its quiet. Went a couple of weeks back and the leaves are falling now, so there are a few hidden roots to watch out for.

Hora, yep the crack would have been hidden slightly by the swingarm.

I’m too far away to shit down his chimney unfortunately, I started the thread hoping someone would do it on my behalf?
