Is escape to Gisburn home baked? Not sure where the other two stages are…

Here is Mika, you can’t hear, but I’m shouting ‘back’ a fair bit but she does eventually get past!

Mines exactly the same, can’t stand running behind me and always wants to be about 10-15m in front. Its fine 90% of the time as she is faster than me on the flat but she won’t move over on the downs!

The lap is around 13 miles, with 1300ft of climbing/descending. The 3 stages have around 800ft of timed descent between them and 50ft of climbing.

Stage maps and race info will be emailed out on the 25th.

There’s a fair bit of building going on next to some of the fireroads, but I’m guessing thats just going to become part of the loop at some point?

Looks fairly rocky and technical from what you can see.

There were 210 people altogether, 169 that finished so guessing the rest were DNF’s or decided to give it a miss after a practice.

43rd out of 55 in the senior’s which I don’t suppose was too bad for my first enduro, Gisburn is next in a few weeks, can’t wait! :)

Was good fun, my first enduro and I was a bit out of my depth on the DH runs in the slop, not used to pushing on when its like that after only one practice run.

Came off a few times but I wasn’t the only one! I think some of the first stage times were messed up, so it will just count stages 2 and 3 for the final results.

Are you swapping between syringes to push/pull? You’re supposed to do it a few times to get any bubbles out.

I did wonder if they will make special K and brainfreeze a segment, with the climb between them?

I think the TT route will possibly be a segment (Transmission, accelerator and nitrous) but not sure other than that.

Was there last weekend and pike’s teeth was closed off, but the end section of it looks pretty good, so maybe they will have that finished off and open in time for it?

It was just the BB-shell that was cracked, I couldn’t tell until I stripped the paint. That was fairly common with the 2008 frames.

If they offer you a new frame, and you don’t have to send yours back, I may be interested in the front triangle! :)

Ah you should be good then, although I don’t think they have any spares that far back (they didn’t for 2008 anyway). So I would guess you will get a 2013 frame as a replacement if you are the original owner.

It’s currently just bare aluminium, I stripped the paint off the full frame, but then realised the front triangle was cracked. Drop me a mail if you would like photo’s.

Did Lapierre give 5 year warranties in 2009?

I have a rear triangle from an XL 2008 zesty if your interested, but I’m not sure whether its a straight swap or not.

Its still a pretty good price at £18, the pacestar would work better on the back (for better rolling) with a trailstar up front.

I got on fine with pacestar front and rear for the last year, the trailstar just gives more confidence on the slippy stuff imo.

Its just the cheaper compound, it rolls a bit better but seems less grippy on wet roots/rocks.

Endura, Cube, Mavic, GoPro and 100% are all excluded (assuming your going for Endura shorts?).

I use camskill or black circles usually, need new tyres so will see what e tyres are like.

Which GoPro is it? I have the 3 and battery life is poor (30-45mins at 1080p). Ended up buying spares to swap over. The 3+ should have slightly more battery life though.

For the chest mount, I mount my GoPro upside down to get a better angle otherwise it does point down. There is a setting to flip the video on the camera.

I have the black, which came with a free wifi remote (never used), and a few more video/photo settings, it is supposed to film better quality in low light conditions which is the main reason I went for it. Not sure if this is still the same with the 3+.

Gisburn is worth a visit if you haven’t been before!

Did anybody do the TT there at the weekend? Just seen the youtube video, with a mention at the end that the TT run will be one of the stages. How was it?

I just check the skate shoe’s shops and see what’s on clearance at the time.

I’m using DC nets at the moment (£25), soles nice and grippy and have held up well for the last 6-8 month’s. I had a pair of adio’s before but the soles were too soft and only lasted 3 months (riding 3-5 times a week).

Only problem is they soak water up like a sponge so take a few days to dry out.

Great, think I’ll get myself booked onto it then. Do the distances of the stages vary, or are they all roughly 4-8mins depending on skill/fitness?

Not been to Hamsterley before, so will head up there in the next couple of weeks for a lap of the red/black.

Tomhoward – I may well be in the same boat as you! Its just the fitness and technical ability holding me back :)

A few on each hand just below the fingers from the bar. Get some gloves or eventually they will harden up.

The new ios7 seems to detect non-OEM chargers.

Some chargers won’t work at all, some will charge but will stop the screen working and won’t show the battery actually charging.

Not sure about not fully charging, maybe your battery is on it’s way out?

Where abouts are you, and do you have some details on the caddy you could send over?
