Thanks guys. Intrepid looks amazing, would love to get a look at a Blackbird and Space Shuttle.

Anyone go down to Coney Island or Governors Island?

We all had one at Aviemore! It was year of the brown trek!

Got a great pic of me on mine by Russ Burton somewhere. Great bikes. Jenn managed the tour divide on one too. Only trek I’ve ever bought.

    Rossco,

I’ve got a steel standard jones spaceframe that I ran with 650b plus wheels (wtb 2.8s). This was ace like that but I’ve now also bought a plus (Timbur’s) and now have the standard Jones back with 29er wheels and singlespeed.

I don’t find the plus to be less nimble but I’ve had a pugsley and this feels like a pug that you can actually steer. It takes a bit more effort to get going but it’s momentum is incredible. It will batter over everything. The length is more at the front end than the back in my experience and Jeff has got the trail/head angle sorted so it steers perfectly.

The spaceframe I’ve deliberately set up to be different enough to make for a different ride. It’s a bit sprightlier and lighter and no gears.

I ride the plus more often and I tend to only do 1-2 hour rides at the moment.

BUT…. if I only had one I’d go back to the standard spaceframe with 650b plus for all rounder.

Baiting good. Won’t get the bike back but might get him nicked again.

    Beating considered too….

Released pending investigation. Bugger all chance of getting it back now.

Know the blokes name, got his street address and mobile number off social media. Wife has spoke to his mum who he lives with. Trying to talk him into giving up where it’s gone. So want to go round his house and give him a kicking. But unfortunately my career down the pan should I do that.

    Any ideas?

Cheers chaps. Amazingly the police have arrested someone based on the cctv footage and some photos. The thief went back up there again later today!

Hoping we might recover the bikes if they’ve not been moved on already!

Yeah! Was about to sell it as he’s outgrown it so have a few pics! Will put some pics out to the rozzers. It’s basically a silver Niner with white Forks and black other bits.

Stupid bugger locked it with his mates cannondale using their shitty cable lock instead if the big D lock I bought him. Tit!

Park at my house and get a Taxi to the airport*

I’m in Maidenbower, Crawley. 5-8 mins from terminals and the local cab firms do big enough taxis for a bike box.

Can’t be more faff or not able to see the volume left than an actual camelbak. Dovebiker, that sounds more positive!

Tim, not going as far as triathlete bottle cage seat pack and straws but I’m enjoying no pack riding and want to ride further like that :0). But yes, my biggest issue is that I might look like a bit of a see you next Tuesday!

They mostly come in one size (about 14 inch seatbtube) so would be fine in terms of standover. Top tubes aren’t too long and with a short stem would be fine.Specialized p1 come up on eBay a fair bit. One on there for £185 at the moment. Brakes are a personal thing. I always liked both but some run just rear to DJ, rarely just front.

If she is small maybe a 24 inch wheeler like a DMR?

BMX would do and be fun but I think I’d be more tempted to pick up a second hand 26 inch wheel singlespeed dirt jumper that might then also be useful for getting around town on etc too. Get a long enough seatpost and it could be a bit more multi purpose.

Stu, those shorts were ace!! Like a reverse mullet, business at the back and party at the front!

I only remember the weekend as it was a month after starting secondary school and my
Mum bought it for me as she’d just split from my dad. It was basic bribery to make up for being a ****!

All I did back then was ride with my two mates and paw the latest copies of Bicycle Action!

Try a jones. Bike for life. If you are in the south east, welcome to try mine.

Cheers chaps! Pics from anything before the last ten years are minimal but I do need to sit down and put something together from more recent times. Even just a slideshow of bikes might be good.

Conversely I hate ergons. Way too much material around the palm and feels like I’m not properly able to hold on with them as ring and little fingers don’t get full wrap. But worst of all they look awful!

I’m really liking the ESIs on my Jones bars, fat foam but confirm to hand shape well. I expect grips are a very personal thing though. My Klein has grab-ons which are also superb.

Talk him into 1×10 Tim. Lots cheaper

OP, I think you are the exact appropriate market. They aren’t for me at the moment but if it meant the difference between riding or not, then I think I’d be up for one in the future.

You really need to ride a Jones for a bit and then get back on a normal bike to appreciate the alternative riding position of the Jones. You don’t jump on it and it’s an instant revelation. It’s when you get on another bike after that you realise. Seriously, my other bikes now feel wrong.

The bars on their own are not the full picture. Get an extended test ride on a full bike if you can, then go back to
your own and see. I’m in West Sussex if you want a try.

You mean the cable end cap? A ferrule is the bit that goes over the cut end of the outer cable housing.

I have a bones 2 and bought the straps that have foam rollers on the end (boot huggers) to help make it more secure. Works a treat! The feet only mark the car if it’s not clean. Just baby wipe the patch where the feet sit before fitting.

The best made guitar I’ve ever owned was a Rickenbacker 330. If I had the cash is have another in a heart beat, or a 360 for better finishing. If you like the looks (they are a bit marmite I think) then really lovely to play and sound different to Gibson/fender.
