Glass roof here

Do those blinds offer any insulation or just privacy?

We had out polycarbonate roof replaced about 18 months ago. We had the choice of a solid lightweight roof or a replacement insulated glass roof. The price was similar for each at about £6k for a 5m x 5m conservatory. The supplier reckoned the thermal/insulation qualities of each were similar.

In the end we went with glass and we’re glad we did as it leaves the conservatory a lovely light room where you can now lie on the couch and look at the sky.

HOWEVER….while not quite as cold in the summer or quite as hot in the winter, it has not made it into an all-year completely useable room, but this could be because we only had the roof done and didn’t replace the two glazed sidewalls with better insulated panels, nor do we have curtains or blinds.

The whole roof was done in a day, including glass and new roof frame to fit it on.

The Bose Soundlink Colour is reduced to £64.99 (plus £5 voucher) at Argos at the moment.

Heard of it. Have absolutely no intention of trying it.

My 6 year old son has a Frog 55, moving up from a Isla CNOC 14. It’s ok but does seem to weigh a lot for the size of bike it is.

Goulash. Large.

I love the bit where we “Transpose existing EU legislation into domestic UK law”. I.e. copy and paste EU law and call it UK law.

Where was it brunged from?

It is possible but not entirely legit to stay in a quiet spot somewhere (Wild camping), but there are plenty of campsites.

You will probably want electric hook-up and somewhere to change the water somewhere which makes official sites more convenient. Around Keswick, Castlerigg Hall and Farm campsites are decent as is Scotgate just along the road in Braithwaite. But there are plenty of sites all over which take campervans.

Sounds like the bloke who bought something off me which had second class postage on the listing, then insisted that I should have sent it recorded delivery because he always does.

“Maybe you should have offered to pay extra for the postage service you wanted rather than the one you read was included on the listing”.

Nowhere near as annoying as stupid offers for listings that don’t have best offers on them.

Item for starting price £120 plus postage…..plenty of time left on the auction….so some nugget messages me and says will you take £100 posted.

I don’t know what it is….buyers assuming all sellers are desperate.

Or even worse “Do you have a buy it now”….then they offer less than the starting price.

Surely it’s cheaper and less hassle to just sort out/chuck out some junk….

I’ve just bought a Hero 5 session because:
1) Voice control. No more taking gloves off, putting stuff down to take a photo. Just “Go Pro, take a photo” or “Gopro, start/stop recording”
2) It’s small and easily mountable…..I don’t envy the tinky-winky look.
3) I don’t mind too much about battery life because I’ll do what I do with my phone – carry a small power bank and give it a charge at lunchtime.
4) I couldn’t see myself needing the bells and whistles of the Hero 5. I just want it to shoot when I tell it to.
5) Image stabilisation as I’ll be using it for biking and skiing.

I’ve gone the map route, bought the 4 maps around Derby and Nottingham. I’ve had a look at the online resources before but can see that the map, highlight and join up (supplemented by the online sites) will really give me the visual possibility of where I could get to.

I’ve managed to ride to work in Derby from Beeston in Nottingham mostly offroad before just through exploration, but looking forward to opening up some new possibilities for loop rides as well as commuting.
