Stupidly i was dragging them all the way down !!

yetiman – glad you are OK – did you get no warning? – I have done this a couple of times and both times the lever feel changed and gave me enough time to come to a halt.

Earlier on in the ride i started noticing that i had to pump my back brake to get power?

Considering changing to V2 brakes now!

Undoubtedly, i was braking like a plonker ! Learning curves and all that !

Simon, didnt know about that route mate, was following a route from the MTB in the lakes book, will look out for it next time

Levers were not coming back to the bars, and i could seriously smell the pads when i eventually stopped.

Are M4s easy to bleed (never bled brakes in my life before)

i am 6'2 and 15.5 stone, that takes some stopping power.

Cooked pads are what i am worried about, is it true that the high heat may have altered the performance?

Disagree Mad Pierre – Full brand new XTR system

No lube and muddy gritty conditions = Chainsuck

Only had it twice and both times i was lubeless (for different reasons)

@ Farmers choice – If you have done the job right, you dont need lubricant 😉

Blagers – You want to be looking for breasty haw, parkamoor and the descent to high nibthwaite.

Heres a route and a slight variation here

If you insist on a trail centre, then definately Whinlatter. But IMO the best option would be the natural stuff around Grizedale. Wife and kids can still go to the centre. Stay off the NFT and go au natural instead

Most of the best routes appear to be from the lakes

body position is very differnt so i figure that it will help with aerobic capacity.

Also mtb riding will contribute to upper body fitness, not sure that as a roadie that is needed?
