Had a go on a 21" hei hei 29er up in Lagan last year, much fun and still makes me want a big wheeled bike. "Normal" XL Orange 5 as well, both fitted very well.

according to a bloke from British Waterways, the ice was up to 10" deep, the car had been on the ice for about a mile, and was on the way to Edinburgh from near Linlithgow via the canal as the roads were covered in crashed cars! – nice pics btw.

I have an 07 hatch, 1.8 TS. The estate has something like 10cu ft more room, but they are rare when i was looking. Drives well, but very poor in snow/ice. BIG boot, and ok leg room behind drivers seat (I'm 6ft5).

I found like for like the passat was a lot more expensive.

Don't like the look of the new ones, but nicer than the mondeo still…

I would have liked the diesel but don#t do enough miles to have warrented the extra money at the time.

if your putting a playhouse on top, you shouldn't need the mortar mix. but do spend the time to compact the sand and the soil underneath the sand and get the levels right, putting it right after building the kids playhouse may put you in the doghouse!

Shibboleth, SWB. I do wind my revs down to 100mm before putting in otherwise bars are a little high. oh, and the passenger seat is not very nice to sit in for long. understears on bends if you boot it too early, but otherwise not bad handling for a van. the speed limit thing – I understood that was because your in a purpose built van, whereas the berlingo etc is a car derived van.

my large yeti only just fits in, with wheel turned at 90deg. but just high enough to keep the seat up. I use bungies to keep all upright, easy fit two bikes in, with space for boxes etc in between. Get the sliding door one btw. oh, 60,000miles in, changed front disks, rear axel (under warrenty) and a couple of sets of front tyres.

I've got talk talk, which is fine now. If you need to talk to them though its not a local call center, which did cause a few issues when changing to non-paper billing.

OK speed, 6meg rather than the 8meg quoted.

Something like £25/month all calls included except mobiles incl line rental. I think you can add mobs on for a flat rate.

pain or indeed numbness are both bad things.

I'm with midlifecrisis, lie on front, ibruprofen, ice on every ten mins.

Reduce inflamation! After a couple of days it may settle. If not, then get to physio asap. Don't do anything which is painful as it will bring back the inflamation/spasm.

    cheers for your thoughts everyone!

Understand the FM issues, now to find out if I can hot-wire my car radio!

I had a little play with that Sony one in the shop the other day, nice.

I have a hamax recliner, and with two different bikes have issues with top routed front mech cables down the seat tube, however you can get the boss to sit around the cable mounts eliminating the requirement to buy yet another bike… :-) Oh Spech Rockhopper here with Avid 5's and Rebas.

another vote for Stugeron here. But if you can't stay on deck and if you can't see the horizon, lie down, head on pillow, shut eyes. don't get up or look about you even if when you wake up, unless your going straight on deck to look at the horizon.

something about your eyes and your inner ear causes sea sick, so don't let them get confused!!

I have a pair of these. If you spend all day, for several days at a time in a pair then its worthwhile, if you spend 10 mins in them, then spend £10.

what tazzymtb is right in my book, however how does the cycle to work scheme sit in with this. They are in effect helping you get a bike and therefore H&S at work 1975 etc kicks in?

all the shine off the toes of those hard shiny surface leather shoes in about 4 weeks. Put her in an open space and I struggle to keep up! (the area next to the aquarium at Lomond shores is good, especially the step).

windowshopper – maybe a new bike on her birthday is a little early then…

Mine is on a balance bike, and loves railing curbs and running into walls at high speed. At nursery she plays on a trike with pedals and would like some on her bike..still think that the balance bike is the way forward though to start with, but not sure when to introduce pedals…shes 3 in April..

Cruachan, over by Loch Awe on the road to Oban. If your into big hills, doesn't come much better in Scotland in my books. Give yourself the whole day at this time of year though (6hrs +).

    Hi,

not sure if i am going to make tomorrow so please don't wait on me, kinda over did it today in Drumlangrig, great to be back on the bike though after injury.

Ice is good in the early stages to reduce the inflamation, but do not try stretching until warmed back up again…! I;ve been recomended to only do things which don't hurt and I will get more and more movement/less and less pain. good luck, feel for you, i was similar about 10 weeks ago, first ride this weekend…

Maybe join in for this, so long as the emphasis is on slow! not been on a bike for about 10weeks due to a back injury…

what about Solid Rock Cycles, out on the road between Mingavie(?) and Bishopbriggs?

I often ride alone, as I infrequently get a pass enabling me to join up on weekends etc for organised stuff, but I have bumped into a bunch who post up on another local forum who I sometimes ride with. Nothing serious, but I have found my skills increase riding with others – too easy to get off and push over/down difficult stuff just incase….

great review, I was concerned about quality of the unit at that price, as i built a cutter kit rated at 500lumen for more than that (including second hand battery, SS salt pot from ASDA and a dubious switch!)

But the checks and changes you have made can be repeated by me with limited tech skills, and hopefully get a great light for another mad winter of muddy, snowy night riding. Any ideas about mounting it as a helmet light?

We got our 2yr old a runner/trainer bike (Norco), which I tied an old inner tube around the headset/bars which limited and strangly sprung the stearing back to straight. Took it off after about 2hrs playing on it, and not had a crash yet involving oversteering issues (lots of other crashes though, into walls, flowerbeds etc.) It was less of an issue than we thought it would be.

I’m 6’5, and tried a 29er for the first time at the weekend in Laggan. Liked it much more than I thought, but was slow and cumbersome at tight corners etc, over rocks was great, and very fast at fireroad climbs. (19″(?) Kona hei hei 29er btw)

scuttler, its not a high def hard drive camcorder as I expected I would need some serious computing power to handle that. agreed about the software with the camera, all the decent stuff is locked out so you need to buy it off sony for £££££, leaving you with a poor trial copy.

Had a play on an orange 5 and a Kona hei hei 29er. 29ers on rocks er.. rock! Hardly notice the joins in the slabs.

I got a mail back quick today when I asked as I hope to be in the area. Even suggested that there would be stuff big enough for me at 6ft5! Just turn up with credit card and photo ID and enjoy.

    Think I e-mailed info@highlandbikes.com rather than basecamp.

We use a Spech small fry, which if you can get in very small sizes, and fits really well. We did try on as many as we could find before getting one though. Which was not that easy as a small child gets fed up easily…

both my rebas and revs do this sometimes…I do find that it gets worse the greater difference in pressure between the pos and neg chambers.
