One is almost 4 and riding unaided for about 9 months, the other about 8 months so not quite cycling yet but loves the bike seat. Tramways and the cycles ways around blackpool sound good.

Edit; oh and I have a trail gator to extend those tired little legs.

Should have gone to lbs in the first place.

    Indeed.

Went to my LBS, got one off the shelf, along with some good banter

    – Does that not tell you all you need to know?

certainly learnt my lesson. Just trying to save yet another trip into town. oh well.

I wouldn't have done it with the first until over a year, but the second is so laid back with everyone, she wouldn't notice for a week, so long as she was fed watered and allowed to sleep when she wants…! Planning a long weekend in a couple of months when my youngest will be about 9 months, oldest 3.5yrs. Grandparents are in-line with our thinking by the second one as well so know what/not to do. It might be good for us all to have a break from time to time…!

just getting to the Bo'ness hill climb and thought my exhaust had fallen off, with lots of people stopping and pointing at me, looked behind to find the Vulcan climbing up from the Forth over our heads – superb.

weld each metal component seperately to a lamp post… that way any thief will have to cut through the part.. effectively rendering it useless…

I had a motorbike chained to a house, they cut through the bike frame and left the lock unharmed whilst stealing it, so that might only slow them down.

two weeks taken this time round. First time round, only took one week, and spent most of that looking at our baby not sure what to do with it, second time spent most of the time out playing with bikes with the first one.

I get that from neighbors, but more on a Saturday night at about 3am as they drive their motorbikes home without helmets on…

I'm sure there are websites you could post of pic of your screaming child on, and someone would come and take it off their hands for a while…

Thule 591, put some cloth or webbing material around tube where the rack attaches.

i'm with Ho hum, if someone came knocking on the door asking me to quiet my child who was screaming for some reason and i had already tried to calm her, it may be the last straw and I would end up on an assault charge…think they may not have slept for days on end, they may not be thinking straight themselves.

Suppose I'm lanky (6ft5 14st), formal suits from Slaters menswear, reasonable prices and they re-tailor for free, or they did last time I got a suit from them.

*edit* they do work on commission though and tend to stalk you around the shop a little, you need to be able to say no or you will spend lots.

I had a mate who lived in an ex cottage hospital. Big house, lots of guests frequently visiting his large family. Fairly often people would "meet" someone having a cup of tea or drink of milk at silly o'clock, and describe this meeting to the family the next morning. Never anything nasty, just a stranger in the night, who wans't really there…

Drop off at CV, then along north Third cliffs heading for Stirling, if you still have time, up and down Dumyat back into Stirling. Get picked up in Stirling back in Glasgow for T.

*Edit, just actually read the other posts now…*

I've had mine done (trimmed), went from hobblin to walking quick quickly really. I have sprained it a few times since then though, so make sure you do your exercises to increase strength again after. Oh, I was asked if I had any intentions in being a pro footballer or any other sports, I wish I had said yes, as I am told that they would have taken more care in the op!!

I got at Norco runner bike like this one.

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?PartnerID=79&ModelID=21477

Got it for about £40 new thro e-bay. No stearing limiter, but light, fairly bullet proof, and adjustable.

I liked the Islabikes version, but quite expensive.

edit, not sure if the reviews on CRC webiste are related to that bike btw!

I got a new set of cones from my lbs (who usually are amazing at getting odd stuff in), which were the right pitch for the bearings, but the wrong shape on the outside for the dust seal (old shimano hubs), so the dust seal sits about 2mm away from actually sealing anything – very interested in above now, will go and inspect hub for code.

be very careful with Giant Hogweed. It can lead to irreparable damage in some cases. Increasing susceptibility to sunburn and chemical reactions, like eczema – not to worry you too much!

Speak to Islabike, their levers on their bikes are great, loads of power and very little reach, they might give you some ideas?

as above, second one I know is where your on your side, both arms straight(like your in a cross position) feet on the ground. Having the strenght to do that for any lenght of time is one thing, the balance in that position is another….

got our first a Norco runner bike for £40 (not sure what its really called), mate just picked up a "scoot" from halfords, which should also do the job for about £40 also. We are now onto an Islabike for her first proper bike with pedals and brakes.

I find the foot rolls the pedal forward when going up-hill. I am now considering both foot further forward but also heals down more as I keep losing my footing.

we have a thule atlantis 600 or something similar half width, full lenght box. 300 litres or so.

Very good box, mounts very easily onto the aero bars I have, nice and quiet on the road, but the aerial does foul it, so I tape the aerial onto the box to stop it flapping.

we were thinking of going to Kielder later in the year, some kids things, nice lake to hire boats, walking, cycling, mountain bike trails of sort, midges if the weather is right.

Personally i would not recomend chiropractors (certainly not the one I went to). Although they did get me back on my feet, i am left with the distinct feeling that they are a lifestyle option rather than a cure for a problem. Maybe I went to a bad one, but lots of folk I have spoken with think similar, once they start manipulating your back they have to continue to sort the problems they then create….go to a good physio, avoid going under the knife unless you've got refered symptoms (pins and needles, pain or numbness).

I'm sure that the new DISTO from leica can do areas and maybe volumes as well – great bits of kit, (I might be getting confused with one of their other toys though.)

I have heard that Lion poo/pee works. However that just means you have big cat poo on your garden instead of neighbours cat poo.

edit – I undertand you can get Lion poo from most zoos – edit

always ask, its what I would want if I had a breakdown.

Last time I stopped, gave someone a spare tube and pumped it up for them. Couple of days later, there was a small crate of beer and a new tube on my door step. (they knew one of my neighbours)
