I had this with a set of shifters i had retrieved from someone’s bin for a single speed project which then acquired gears. wd40/gt85 soaked over night and then flushed the following day. New cable and works fine.

nullBike frame from a skip, most of the bits were donated by someone who didnt want them anymore (9 speed, 26″, cheap brakes etc), some bits from my spares box including the forks. Sad thing is that it was built for my daughter who has been on it twice in two years. Just not interested.

@footflaps loving the photos. The Lion Inn up at Blakey was my local when growing up. Brings back good memories of cycling over those hills and down the “incline”, watching my brother wipe out when he was about 10 when his brake blocks finally gave up on that hill..

    Sophisticated grooming

we had a photography club at our school which was quite popular with the teen boys. The teacher used to allow us to read his “photography magazines” (mid 90’s) which was basically porn..

These ones just blow my mind, Cleopatra was closer to us than she was to the Sphinx.

and she wasn’t Egyptian, she was Greek.

My wife got hit with a wheel which had come off another car, our car needed new bonnet, wing, headlight, bumper etc etc – nearly wrote our car off. This was witnessed by police who just happened to be driving past. It turned out that the other vehicle was being road tested by a local garage, and the road test included a few miles on a motorway. Luckily the wheel didnt come off on the motorway, could have been really nasty. Police detained the driver of the other vehicle.

The last two times i had a strange click, first was the end of the front gear cable catching on the crank arm the other was the speed sensor magnet on the rear wheel catching on the sensor. Also check shorts dont have a button clashing with the frame.

surely it would be open like twice

we considered putting one in during our extension works. I seem to remember the builder saying, £3k for the window, plus about £3k of work to the roof to fit it, including calcs etc for the warrant. For a window we would use 2-3times a year. Shame as it would have been lovely for the times we did use it..

I have been using the pull it when i see it technique, but recently have found a flame thrower much more satisfying…

as above, nasty stuff to kill. It has a waxy coating to the surface which stops chemicals penetrating the growth. If you ad a bit of washing up liquid or other surfactant to glyphosate you get a bit of a improved reaction. Pulling works to a point. Be careful of the cuttings as they can still take hold (if your putting them in a compost heap for instance.) Its been around since the dawn of life, and likely to outlive humans…

your not that tall though. I’m 6ft5 and fit in most cars by laying the seat back a bit. Some cars i struggle with the steering wheel adjustment like the FIL Boxster, which is sad as i was eyeing it up for when he leaves.. the biggest problem is fitting other people in the car when i am the driver.

they were here way before we came along and expect they will be here way after we have left. One way to avoid ants is to find another planet to live on.

Today a local bloke who crashed into someones garden during an icy spell a month or two back, who we felt sorry for at the time, crash in the same place today on a dry road. Turns out he is just a $hite driver.

Can you still use Covid as an excuse? Say your going to go, call in sick first thing in the morning, go for a ride. Everyone will feel sorry for you, you get a ride and dont get black listed for not going.

had this with my brothers wife…she is a pain in the ar$e. however i expect she thinks similarly of me/us as now she always has an excuse up her sleeve as to why she cannot visit. Doesn’t really change my world too much so I don’t worry about it – it bothers my parents as they rarely see all of their grandchildren together.

as above, (also as a long term back sufferer) although anti inflammatory medicine does help you manage the pain, look at the source of the pain and what can be done about that. Stretches (very specific ones for my issue) helped me immeasurably and i have learned to control the symptoms with care and stretches, with occasional pain relief and ibuprofen.

Stirling to Dollar, to Pool of Muckhart then over to Dunning then to Perth, otherwise you could go Sherifmuir to Gleneagles and then to Perth? Ive done some of both of these routes, but not all, mostly back roads or cycle paths.

if someone could deliberately drop something in the doorway to keep the doors open more than 8″ without at least an alarm or the system stopping, surely that’s not complying with H&S legislation to do everything practicable to prevent an accident? Like running a bit of equipment without the guard in place.

Not picked up on holiday, but I travelled with a power ball in my hand luggage once through standstead. That caused some hilarity as they took me to one side to search me after finding what appeared to be a bomb in my case from a cartoon, with string fuse.

every 2-3000 miles I put new grease in my road pedals, not cause they need it, but its just so satisfying to see the old stuff splurge out. my m520s have made it through about 5 bikes, 10 winters and not been touched, might re-grease them this year.

yesterday i got a chap ($%$£) on the M9 going through the 50mph speed camera at Newbridge flashing and widely gesticulating at me as i slowed to 50mph for the camera. I was in the outside lane, but then the inside was also full of traffic and doing 50mph. He then proceeded to undertake me at the earliest opportunity with a variety of hand gestures, then spun off onto the M8 eastbound cutting someone else up and i expect straight into the back of the que towards Edinburgh. Some people are just c0ck$.

a tree would look good in that space…

monoblocking up the hole is probably the best bet, with a bit of a dig out to remove organic matter to a foot or so below otherwise as it decomposes it will sink.

How about a westfield with a bike engine? Wind in your hair, in touch with the road, crazy speed if you want, but you have a crash box around you, and a boot, albeit a little one.

thinking about the chili tape, we use a fire gel to keep birds away, wonder if they would work on rodents? They make the bird think they can see fire or heat, so stay away – allegedly.
