KMC 1/8th on my fixie and a wipperman 808 on my SS mountain bike. The 808 is much quieter although neither are that noisy tbh. Im probably going to run a kmx 1/8th on my mountain bike aswell as its half the price.

according to wheelpro hope should be sending the wheels out this week.

I would have suggested a lower ratio as i found it tough on my knees spinning a large gear (3:1 700c wheels) on my fixie.

Are you riding SPDs? Could try flats if you are.
Or possibly look at some other area of your bike setup, saddle angle and the like.

no you just push it all the way forward in the dropouts. My brother has done this for a few months with zero problems.

Love everything Trent Reznor makes (other than saul williams) and so far im really liking this new band. The females vocals are good.

Does anyone know who the other two band members are? I dont recognise them from anywhere.

That seems quite a small list to me tbh. Ive done about 800 miles on my inbred singlespeed and have gone through –

    1 x Chain annihilated
    1 x headset
1 x cones and bearings PER wheel
    1 x freehub body
    1 x bottom bracket
    1 x carbon seatpost Woops!
about 6 sets of brake pads, few still have a bit of life left though
2 x hayes stroker rydes, just killed them….woops…

Im not trying to brag, my bike is a cross country bike but i happily take it anywhere and everywhere riding some of the milder downhill sections and, what i think kills components, riding all through the winter without fail. Out in the mud and filth constantly wore through components in no time even with regular greasing.

ourmaninthenorth – track bikes (or in my case a fixie) are great huh? Mine has a periodic tightening of the chain and front brake. If its feeling lucky the chain might get rinsed in white spirit and relubed.

frankly if i were an insurer or doing something like replacing a frame i would go and search for the persons details on the internet.

If your not happy with the world knowing it dont post it on the **** internet.

nice video – would be improved with a dedicated camera man i think but thats obvious and it works well without. Also i felt you should have cycled through each frame because it was clear you were stopping at the end of them. Perhaps just cut a second to early.

Picky i know but its still a good video that i enjoyed watching :)

I remember when i was young my cat went missing for what i thought was about 6 weeks at the time, in my mind im doubting it was that long but it was still a really long time. He came bounding up the front garden and ran straight in the house whilst the door was open.

We suspect, like others have poitned out, he was being fed by someone else because he seemed in no disrepair. We also think he carried on getting fed by some old dear when he was older.

We had another cat who was completely off his trolly and would go off for 24 hours at a time very regularly. Pretty much once a week all year round.

Mine have lasted nicely through the winter so far.
They arent as light as rc31s and i dont thin kthey absorb shock as well, but for £85 i love my carbons. Im a XC rider and i know it, i dont try and do stupid jumps but ive done the odd small one. I have to say on occasion im a very sloppy rider and basically just crash into/through things (roots, step ups/downs, deer etc) and these forks have shown no sign of even caring.

All in all very happy here :D

Depending on other circumstances find a local club that does evening rides in the week?
otherwise, if its possible, buy some lights and get your mates on in the evenings during the week.

Riding in the week is so much more convienient than during the weekednd.

    Ridden Swinley a few times on a rigid SS… It'll be fine…

I, too, have ridden swinley on a rigid ss and found it okay.

i used one of the basic Selle saddles in that style. It was reasonably comfortable but i found it took a bit of fiddling to get it in a proper position as i found i always slipped into the 'hole' in the saddle.

Be prepared, if you buy one of those saddles everyone will be asking you if you bent your saddle and asking all sorts of weird questions.

Really i want something that can generate .gpx files so i can use them on something like mapmyride or, i presume, other gps software on the pc to look at rides. Stuffl ike average speed and distance really.

Been looking at HTC Desires too. Should stop trying to find ways of wasting my money : )

Their cats, thats what they do!

If they are on one side of a door they must be on the other and vice versa.

Mine is a pile of shite, the collar is incerdibly tight to turn as if somethign inside is jammed. I think i managed to get it to pump up about 3 inner tubes and now its dead.

My canyon dual use (co2 and regular pump) does both valves and has a smart head design in m opinion. Its not let me down yet, only drawbacks are it only takes 12g co2 and once you pierce the top you cant leave it in as it leaks out!

I picked up a can creek S3 from CRC for £25 a month back. All i can say is its an amazing headset. 100 times better than the M sport piece of shit one i had before. The front end is stiffer and smoother also!

Ive got two bikes, a rigid SS inbred and a fixied road bike for commuting and pissing about.

I am building up another bike but in all honesty these two bikes are more than enough for me.

I work in halfords and i know its possible to order them. I dont know the price though.

Go into your local store and ask how much they cost, when the sales assistant gives you a blank look tell him to look it up under "spare by spec" and youll find a price. I imagine £100 or so. You can probabyl find something better elsewhere.

I wear shorts (sometimes baggy) over bib tights. I've heard people have worn through cycling clothing because of mud chucked off the back wheel and then rubbing their arse on the saddle.

I also think its not nice when your climbing up a hill behind someone and can quite clearly see their arse through their lycra wobbling left and right in front of you!!!

Therefore, i wear shorts over the top.

Im annoyed the frame had the cracked chainstay and i suppose i could complain, but the way i see it if you buy second hand your taking a risk anyway. Sometimes you get a bargain and sometimes you dont.

freegan – i've not actually ridden it even, i was planning to build it up slowly for a nice summer bike.

Thanks for the input guys, the way i see it i paid so little for the frame id be happy to have the chainstay patched by a welder (as has been advised to me already) and hope to get another year out of it of riding. Then just replace it with a better quality frame which isnt cracked.

Ive been looking at insurance for me and my girlfriend and found time of year seems to make a massive difference. Ive literally put 100s of quotes through moneysupermarket etc and found theres a definate change in prices. For example before christmas i put a mk2 scirocco gt2 (89-92) in and got around £1100 for the both of us fully comp. Put the exact same quote in now and it comes out around £3000. If anything it should have gone down given that we are both 19 instead of 18 now and i have a years driving experience.

Ive tried with lots of cars and dont believe what anyone says about "get a small car" – sorry but they are flat out wrong. Yes turbos, superchargers etc will royally ruin your insurance but sensible cars wont. Something like a 1.4/1.6 mk3 astra is a great car. Im insured on my mums 1.6 fully comp, protected NCB for her, my dad and brother (add about £10 between them) and it comes out around £900. Great thing is you can pick up a good nick one for £500. Sorry to be blunt but you might find you can SAVE money by buying a new car like this than to press on with a 2.5k high premimum "teenagers" car.

I dont mean to imply that riding in the wrong gear is a good thing. I have found that if you use the right ratio for your riding then you shouldnt really be in the "wrong" gear.

Ive commuted on my inbred (2:1 ratio) and yes, its very slow and you dont work up a sweat. Thats why i have two bikes, a fixie for commuting and a inbred for off-road commuting and the muddy stuff.

If you enjoy riding more from it then i suspect so. If you got on and thought "F*@: this for a lark" then no.

I like how people, who i assume to be geared riders, have immediately attacked SSing. I dont know whether its tongue cheek but whatever, who cares.

The way i see it, Singlespeeding makes you think more about how you cycle and definately makes you use your upper body more. Especially your lower back from churning your chosen gear up steep hills. I PERSONALLY find SSing much more involving and rewarding experience. I wouldn't however say it is for everyone, some people simply prefer gears and/or suspension.

My suggestion is go and buy a singlespeed kit for about 20 quid and convert whatever your current XC/Commuting bike is with it. Okay its not ideal like track dropouts are but then you dont have the choice of gears and you have to think about those hills.

Ive never walked where a geared bike could still pedal.

My bike is no weight weeny.

Ive never used the excuse "ive only got one gear", in fact quite the opposite.

The only time innapropriate gearing comes into play is when the riders a wimp.

Your arguing about something which has not facts, just opinions ground into it. Who knows if a 26 or 29er is better for technical or open ground?

Ride what you like imo. I personally ride a 26er because its widely available and easier to deal with than 29ers.
