my brother used to hav a f-ing mental cat, it wasnt particuarly active or feral but was built like a brick shit house and had a bit of a mood with anyone it knew.

A few years back (before he got squashed) he would try and terrorise me, now i really like cats but this particular one would happily claw your legs very deep without caring too much. Other than smothering him in a blanket and chucking him out the back door the only method of subduing him was to get my brothers dressing gown and dangle it in front of him or put it near him. He would instantly rush to it and start licking and suckling the dam thing. Sometimes he would do it for hours and just roll around in it.

    Damned weird cat.

my on one inbred set up as a SS. I think it was half having a SS bike and half having a good bike, all of a sudden my interest in cycling exploded and ive not had a break/layoff for the year since i got it.

nice long board. Im into quad skating myself and just did the goodwood roller marathon today. Theres quite a few long boarders there and its always a good laugh.

I usually use a thick grease (white grease i found the best) on cheap bearings but then that was when i played rolelr hockey in teh rain and would skate through puddles. Somethign worth considering if you are skat(eboarding)ing all year round…

Thanks for the headsup on this stuff though, i may have to try it. Today i only had a light oil in my bearings and whilst they made a horrific noise they rolled for freaking ever and i believe my wheels are similar in specification to yours just a bit narrower.

Out of interest, how hard is riding a long board. Ive never really ridden a skateboard in my life but longboards look great fun.

i run nobby nic 2.4/2.25 triple evo on ZTR crests.
My brother runs high rollers supertacky wire bead on ZTR arch's.

Both of them aired up very easily, the rear on each lost a little air the first night. With the high rollers we painted a copydex/latex solution on the sidewalls as we heard they were a bit pourous and took ages to seal up. We then went and did a week in south wales and had 0 burps, punctures or pissing of sealant on the trail. We ran both of them down to fairly low pressure, my NNs were at about 10-15psi at one point and i weigh 144 pounds. My brothers rear high roller went down to 20 psi but he weighs considerably more than me. Ive also clipped the sides of rocks with my NNs and not damaged them yet :o I did a little jumping on mine and had no problems.

In other words, to cut a boring story short. Do whichever one you want to they should both work.

copydex + latex mixture painted inside tyre side walls if they leak.

Contact adhesive (£5 from wilko?) on the bead of the tyre if it wont seat. Works seriously well and no issues removing tyre later on.

should probably point out i did some south wales trail centres this week, afan etc. No burps, not pinch flats and nothing else to worry me. I dont really jump much but did a few small ones.

ive got pro2s on crest rims and tubelessed a 2.4 and 2.25 nobby nic evo on them. I used some electrical tape with a stans olympic valve. Worked really really well. The rear one lost a little bit of air at first but thats because i taped the rim up SHIT!

yes sorry, topangarider. I looked up the mens bike not the womens. Checked it and you are correct.

The salesman sounds like a right bellend. If it were me i would just go and say your cancelling the order and go to another store. Im sure they will happily stick pedals on if they get an extra 500-1000 quid in the kitty.

had another look, i can see where the pedal thing is coming from. The womens bikes apparently do come with pedals whereas the mens dont ?

Either way, the website is not the same as the store.

You could always say "Put on some pedals or cancel the order." Im sure they will understand

First off, that sounds very odd them not putting some cheapo pedals on for you. Usually there is a new set lying around somewhere.

Secondly however, im afraid they are right and you are wrong. The website is NOT the same as the store, the prices are different, the stock comes from the main warehouse and not from the individual stores. We dont even get told about price differences until a customer comes in.

Also, as far as i can see both halfords and boardmans website show the bikes without pedals. In fact to quote halfords website on pedals gives you "# Pedals: NA "

Reading up on sheldon brown he doesnt seem to mention these problems. Not that im saying they dont exist.

Im also curious as i tihnk im just being a bit thick and not seeing something obvious. If Q rings have been rotated 90 degrees compared to biopace can you not just rotate a biopace ring one or two bolts along to get effectively the same thing as a Q ring?

I feel im being thick here but alas i may aswell ask.

BA Nana, my front brake does that as well. I always assumed the brake dive with forks was what stopped it squeeling.

another vote for an exotic carbon fork. I use mine for general XC mincing, few rocks/roots and small drop offs which i **** up a bit. Front heavy landing on a 1 foot drop off felt nice… mmhmm..Only weigh 144 pounds so not that much weight on it must be said.

For your riding id go carbon rigid, if you think its shit sell it on here. If you want true fit and forget steel rigid.

It is my completely unscientific view that anyone who doesnt wear a helmet whilst riding off road is a ****.

Theres lots of cool things about helmets.

Start with tyres, tubes, then go to rims spokes and hubs. Ive just got some hope hoops with the pro2s and stans crest rims. They aren't ridiculously light but quite good for the money.

There was someone selling Ti seatposts on ebay a while ago for £45, were fairly light i think. Also you can get a saddle off ebay for £30 that weights just under 200 grams claimed weight. Ive not checked but its very light. here it is – http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/bioflex-carbon-base-titanium-rail-190grams-bike-saddle-/270582781059?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item3efffd9483

saying all that 24lbs is good. I think my 18" inbred weighs around that with stupid light stans tyres. Should be able to get it a little lower if i put them on my new hope hoops wheels however im going down the nobby nic/racing ralph route. Still should lose a bit of weight though. deore hubs/317 rims and non butted spokes are HEAVVYYY

edit: realman has a point. Nice rigid exotic/pace fork made of CF will reduce the weight loads!

i should probably point out spock im not exactly a gnarl-core rider. I do the occasional small jump and stuff but i basically ride XC. Its not very rooty/rocky around portsmouth.

If its possible make a way around it without actually damaging any of the existing trail. Without a picture its hard to give an example but just an alternative route basically.

not what you want but can you not ride your current bike in wales? That way your local riding will improve no end.

That is of course as long as your bike isnt totally unsuited.

err is there anywhere that does cheapish 15,16,17 and 18 tooth wide cogs?

the superstar selection leaves a little to be desired :)

    yesiamtom

fair play. I take it your using an alloy freehub also?

    yesiamtom

hmm yes the teeth will be too wide.

That was my next solution stumpy, but as i already have a 15,16 and an 18 tooth shimano cog i thought it might be a way of saving a little bit of money.

Shame as i just bought all three of them new. :?

edit: 7 quid for a single cog is fine, 7 quid for 4 cogs gets expensive. Theres a reason i ride a singlespeed instead of other things.

i think really you need to get locals to show you the best routes if you want the real riding.

Same, i presume, is true of anywhere.
